What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Something like Rimworld or whatever, where its really hard for the audience to babysit his playthrough and the game is unpredictable enough that it doesn't matter too much and would actually make the stream more interesting.
But I know this will never happen since he mainly plays pretty linear games and because Rimworld is brutally difficult and unforgiving.

I enjoy over analyzing Phil's organization and optimization so Book of Hours would legit get me to check out RawDSP and maybe even write summaries to see and talk about the absolute state of his library and how hard he needs to be handheld. A chill style, relaxing style, interactive gameplay stream where Phil gets handheld through complicated concepts such as 'match the color and symbol that tells you 'this is a light blue square aspect' if you click the light blue square' and 'archaic British style currency conversion' between bitching at chat about misplacing the Moon 4 book, forgetting to pause the game, and bitching about the time mechanics of the more relaxed of Weather Factory's two digital games.

I really want to see him fumble through an RTS or 4X game. Age of Empires, Stellaris, Starcraft, Warcraft, EU4, etc. Or something like Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress, as mentioned a few posts above. AOM Retold and AOE2DE are available on console and are controller compatible, I really hope his dents/larpers push for it sometime. AOM Retold got nominated for a game award, hoping that it wins and that's enough to push him in that direction. I think it's free on gamepass too and he loves those free games. It's not even the strategic aspect of these games that would be fun to watch, it's the ui. You know damn well he's gonna just manually click through every menu and forget where everything is rather than just remembering hotkeys. same goes for league/dota/deadlock, it would be too much for him to handle and it would be funny.

I would die to see DSP play Kerbal Space Program. His fast food fried brain would self-destruct trying to understand anything related to rocketry or orbital physics. He wouldn't last a hour before he rage quits and claims that Newton's laws of motion are bugged or developed as part of a conspiracy to ruin his LP career.

Get To Work is really just a streamer-bait rage game, but I want to see Phil play it for the sole reason that we'd get his stupid, fat, gouty face in the corner of this screen at the beginning:

And quite frankly, that would be worth it in and of itself.

FUGA: Melodies of Steel

I just wanna see how many times he says "fuck this" and tosses one of his children into the Soul Cannon to auto-win the boss fight.

I have a laundry list of games I'd like to see him play, many which he will never play for one reason or another, but at the top of my list of likely candidates:

Ready or Not
A tactical/police sim first-person shooter. The game sees you taking the role of a SWAT operator dealing with barricaded suspect and active shooter situations. The games tasks you with being able to make plans and execute them quickly and effectively with minimal loss of life, as you are expected to act within Use of Force protocols when dealing with suspects. You also need to be able quickly identify hostages and suspects, and make quick and accurate shots if things go sideways and a bad guy grabs a woman by the neck and starts using her as a human shield. Weapon modeling and handling leans heavily towards realism, so gun knowledge is helpful when making plans, but not necessarily required.

Given how he typically plays games like Call of Duty, I'd love to him go full-auto on his MK-18 and blow a civilian to kingdom come because he failed a PID check, or waltz on through the fatal funnel and get peppered from every direction because he didn't pie the door first.

Buckshot Roulette
We all know how much Phil loves gambling, and plenty of people in this thread suggested him to play Russian Roulette. Well Phil's never gonna buy a gun to shoot himself with, so here's the next best thing. Key skills include memory, probability crunching, and planning ahead incase things don't go your way, all of which are things Phil lacks. I can imagine how chat would try to fuck with him via backseating by feeding him false information, which would no-doubt be hilarious.

I eagerly await the day he plays this game in the next five years, and then wonders why no-one showed up to support his streams, because if there's one thing that's consistent with Phil, it's striking when the iron has gone completely frigid.
