This is what bothers me about the snow niggers complaining. They have to option to get American gibs and still bitch about Trump vs being forced to work in a mining camp where they get paid a few dollars a day and left to die in the cold if they complain about conditions with China or Russia. Greenland is at a fork in the road and the march of time and lack of military means they cannot defend themselves against this possibility. America has its flaws yes, but its significantly better than Russia or China taking over and enslaving your population for labor.

Greenland isn't a military power either, it's not really in a position to say who can and cannot annex them.

The smaller/weaker countries have had it good for too long, and they have come to think of their position in the world as the natural order of things. American military protection is taken for granted, it's as natural as the seasons or the rising and setting of the sun.

Everyone personally familiar with the old way of doing things has died off and the new generations have been raised being taught that the bad guys of the world aren't that bad and just need a hug (except for white men, who are inherently evil somehow).

Countries like Greenland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand need to start strengthening ties to the US like crazy because even if American isolationism doesn't take hold now, it's going to happen sooner or later. But their populations probably don't want to face reality.

To boomers though the tarrifs are basically annuda shoa, literally 6 million lines go down.
I had this old boomer lady rant to me about how trump has crashed her IRA with the tariffs. I just look at her like oh no, your generation fucked everything up for us so the amount of shits I give are non-existent.
he basically said I'm too young to understand how these things work, and that I'm stupid for believing what I read on the internet.
And this right here is another reason why I hate boomers. The superiority complex.

Maybe, but I don't want to give up... he's my dad. And I have always considered him to be one of the smartest people I know, especially when it comes to money (His job is finance). It sucks to see this fear and anxiety in him. There must be something that can convince him it will be okay.
If he's in finace his literal job is knowing about the state of these things. I'd take his opinion over yours just on that (assuming he's a succesful financieer). Still, freaking out in general does not help but if you got any exposure to certain parts of the economy it's getting really fucking hard to not freak out due to how much shit is changing.

Have you tried taking him on a haunted cave adventure?

Remember, Mastercard is the primary source behind this and Nick Sortor Someone who came out of GamerGate had a huge thread a few years ago, with receipts, about how Mastercard was working with Soros's Open whatever foundation because they think that infinity brown people means infinity people using credit cards that they'll just keep paying off forever. Anyone who has ever tried to get a muslim or african immigrant to pay a bill at all, yet alone on time, could explain the problem to these people, but they're not working with facts and logic anymore, so...

They fixed that now, the last administration made Credit Card Debit immune to bankruptcy. You WILL pay your 30% APR loans no matter what.

Remarkable how the companies that got themselves written out of the usury laws later on wrote themselves out of the bankruptcy laws.

If he's in finance you should ask him about what his main concerns are and share them with weridos on the internet.
@The Big A
Man it seems like these guys have way too much societal control?

Honestly you can’t fax and lawgic away how people feel. His attacks towards you suggest he doesn’t want to listen, so you’re better off redirecting him and encouraging him to do things that won’t impact his health. Anyone and his mother can look up generic muh mentals bullshit, but the idea is to get him to touch grass and get away from the TV/tablet/computer.
I've been trying to get him to hang out with me more, he won't do it. He just sits around doomscrolling on his phone. He used to not be this way. It seems like things went to hell when he upgraded his phone into an actual smart phone that allowed him to play videos. People warn about kids getting hooked on their phones and believing bullshit, I think that's what happened to my dad.

I do take his opinions seriously, especially since I'm not great with math and don't understand the finer details of how economic stuff works. He's very smart, but he isn't infallible, he also thought Hunter Biden's laptop scandal was a conspiracy theory made up by Republicans, he completely bought into the covid hysteria, and now he thinks DOGE is going to take away social security and ruin his 401K etc. He believes Elon personally is in there stealing data and stuff. I wish I could break his phone.

I'm trying not to powerlevel too much here, but his job is to ensure his company's money is going where it is supposed to. He basically does what DOGE does but for one large single company, which is why I find his reaction even more annoying. His fears, as best as I can understand them, are that Elon is this crazy man that should not have access to American information, and he believes that Elon is working to get rid of social security and also sell off information to Russia.

bankers fleeing the country? Or the government trying to make Fort Knox look good?
My current theory is that this is due to China just allowing the 10 largest insurance companies in China to invest up to 1 percent of their holdings in gold

The National Financial Regulatory Administration of China has issued the “Notice on Launching a Pilot Program for Insurance Funds to Invest in Gold” (hereinafter referred to as the “Notice”), allowing ten insurance companies to invest in gold, effective immediately upon the release of the Notice on February 7.

That just makes me think he's a lefty boomer. I'd just tell him you love him and are there for him.

also sell off information to Russia.
What exactly would Russia want/do with information about my contributions to social security? What good would that do them? How would that harm me or the United States? How would that help Putin or Russia? What would make it worth risking a security breach to transmit this information to Russia?

This is what's always irritated me about the Tier-1 dipshit conspiracy theories (lunar landing hoax, flat earth hoax, etc.) -- when there's either an astonishing pile of very reasonable and convincing evidence disproving the theory (lunar landing, flat earth), or literally no pragmatic reason whatsoever for "evil group X does evil deed Y" to actually occur. Think for ONE FUCKING SECOND and the whole idea falls apart.
