It's time you just sit your dad down and tell him something along the lines of the following: "FUCK YOU, DAD! I'm sorry, but this is something everyone goes through. It'll happen to me too someday. Things just change."

I understand where you're coming from, I had to explain what I said above to my parents. They didn't get it either, but now they do.
lol

The most amusing timeline: TDS causes them to overplay their hand and "Judicial Review" (which is unconstitutional bullshit) gets removed as a concept in American politics. No more running to the courts to undo the thing that just happened, Mr. Greer. Er, I mean, Democrats.
I'm not happy with all the activist judicial lawfare against Trump, and I'm worried about the SC cucking. But anyone who is so hot on the idea of Judicial Review going away might want to consider if it does, 2A will be gone too.

If I said anything close to that, my dad would definitely end up yelling at me and my family would hate me lol
Well, unfortunately you're going to have to. It doesn't matter if anything I said are your personal beliefs, it's just reality. It's going to happen to all of us. Especially in this world where technology is rapidly evolving and changing. The day will come where every single one of us can't keep up with the younger generations. The same way we mocked boomers for not being able to open PDF files, Gen Delta or whatever will soon mock us for not being able to setup a home cleaning robot. It's just how things happen. We'll all become old and out of touch and stop understanding the world. It's an inevitable part of aging and you just can't fight it.

It is at least a handy retard barometer. You should always be wary of who trusts what is basically a patchwork glorified chatbot, a digital midwit that openly lies to you because making shit up that smooth brained investors can be fooled by gets you more contracts than having the thing honestly answer and give a "I don't know/I don't have enough data on that subject" response when it's got nothing.

Add to that, the super majority of them are coded and trained by a revolving door mix of true believer tech bro dorks who thought VR crypto casinos were the future, dyed in the wool bugmen reddit admins and wiki jannies, troons named lilith/loona who learned to code over a particularly grueling two day weekend and a gaggle of the finest lowest bidder saars money can buy.

"AI document summary" too should be looked at disdainfully, as it's overly trusting the worst people backed by the dumbest empty suits to tell you second and third hand information passed through a series of no no word and concept filters that you could have read your own goddamn self instead of getting regurgitated and pre-censored and mangled in the form of a bite sized bedtime story.
I was trying to find if there was instances of Alfred E Newmann making cameos in the DC universe and google's ai tried to tell me about "The Greenest Lantern" allegedly a story about Alfred being given a ring.
As far as I can tell this not only doesn't exist as a comic, it doesn't exist as a fanfic or anything else.
Still it's a pretty good title for a joke story about a schmuck getting a GL ring, so I gotta give credit for that.

Maybe, but I don't want to give up... he's my dad. And I have always considered him to be one of the smartest people I know, especially when it comes to money (His job is finance). It sucks to see this fear and anxiety in him. There must be something that can convince him it will be okay.
You shouldn't give up, but it will be an uphill battle because the TDS has got him. I'm guessing there's reason why he won't look at any alternative news sources: despite his fretting and worrying (and probably ranting), he's getting enjoyment/satisfaction from the validation of his hatred for Trump. That's what this is really about, and there are many such cases. I have a family member who's the same way and it's frustrating. It's not just that they believe the media lies it's that they refuse to entertain an uttered syllable of an alternate position.

You've got a few options--you can continue to try to convince him to at least read something that's not Trump bashing but that probably won't work. You can ignore the worrying and continue to redirect him even thought he's not open to anything other than doomscrolling. You can put up some boundaries--tell him you're not going to engage in politics with him and stick with it. You can use the Socratic method mentioned above and ask him why he thinks the way he does, what are some ways he can mitigate the disaster he believes is coming, why he'd rather sit on his phone instead of living in the real world, etc. Or you can listen in silence to him rant.

I would also add praying for him, too. Even though he's getting something from being in a high state of anxiety, he's also riding high on the constantly fed belief that Trump is a nazi/destroying our country/satan incarnate, etc. It's a vicious cycle and in some ways not his fault because it's psychological warfare. But at the end of the day he's choosing to perpetuate the cycle, and you can't force someone to do something.

You're being a good kid, caring this much about your father. Take some comfort in that.

Guy has his holster still on the pistol, looks like a Glock though. That's obviously agg assault with a deadly weapon. Ultra agg.

That dumb nigger is playing with fire in Texas, if you point a weapon at someone, they can respond back, and yes, it counts even if its still in the holster.

I have some doubts on that, though it's based on anecdotal evidence. All my younger siblings and cousins go to me for tech shit problems. I don't think the current gen have much DIY in them, at least in comparison to the other gens, ratio wise. I believe it is a lack of guidance from older gens and how increasingly closed off tech has become.

yeah obviously the zoomer who can do things isn't going to stand out, but it does seem like they're really really bad at tech, like, even worse than legit boomers
I think part is that people are learning basically one nerfed system, and not learning that very well.
When I was a kid I started on a TI-99/4a in preschool, and I've used a bunch of different machines over the years so I approach more from a general computer theory rather than "my phone does it this way"

That's the one!

These people really are allergic to being challenged or questioned, even just a little. It's fucking hilarious, especially in person. "What, you can't answer one question? So you're full of shit then. Cool." The seething is real.
What's even funnier is that, iirc, the dude drew this comic to dunk on the sea lion'ing behavior. A New Guy or Bike Cuck situation.

Young zoomers and Alphas have been on tablet and phone all their lives, so many basic things (like folders, file conversions, etc) are alien to them. It's gonna be a bloodbath when they reach the job market and have to deal with older systems

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but what ever happened to the whole autopen situation? It seems like the media quickly moved on to other things after Trump declared Biden's signatures null and void.

Also, I haven't really heard anything else about the MLK Jr files that are supposed to be released soon.

If I said anything close to that, my dad would definitely end up yelling at me and my family would hate me lol

I said as much in the thread. I take my dad's opinion into consideration given I consider him one of the smartest people I know, and I am never rude or argumentative about it when I disagree with him. I'm respectful to my dad even when he's being very disrespectful to me. There might be a real reason for my dad to worry (He does have stocks, has been maxing out his 401K contributations for years, and has other financial assets that I don't understand), but the fear mongering media is not helping matters and is causing him to stress out way more than if he wasn't Doomscrolling all day.

You've got one dad. If conspiracy theories about Elon Musk stealing his Social Security are making him go nuts, just avoid the subject as much as you can. At some point, this will all blow over, so just sit tight until it does. Burning family relationships over politics is never worth it.

Eventually the SCOTUS will begrudgingly step in and slap this stupid practice down (it's threatened to do so during Obama's and Biden's terms, not just Trump's), and if it doesn't, eventually the executive will just stop paying any attention to the orders and pull an Andrew Jackson ("let them enforce it"), relying on support from the legislature to avoid punishment. There isn't enough support in Congress to impeach Trump at the moment, much less actually convict and remove him, and enough congresscritters are nervous about this judicial overreach that it's unlikely Congress would actually remove Trump from office for ignoring these retarded decisions
It will HAVE to be the Andrew Jackson route. SCOTUS is pozzed. Roberts is a traitor. He had a chance already to stop all of this and him and ACB refused to do so. They refused to slap it down and he's hellbent on it continuing because he's also a swamp creature.
