It amazes me that Wu thinks everyone is dumb enough to just accept her word as truth when you can see this isn't the case by just looking at her twitter account.

Does anyone know the makeup of MA-8? I mean, is it a reddish district by Massachusetts standards? That would explain why Lynch is relatively mild on the topic of President Trump. By comparison, consider Richmond County in NY, aka Staten Island -- while the rest of the city went for Hillary in positively Mao-ish numbers, Trump actually won this one borough by (low) double digits.

I'd be curious to know if this is a similar situation. It'd also be fucking hilarious to see John trying to win such a district.

MA-8 is hard blue, but it's old blue. The kind that dates back to when the economy was more-or-less thrumming along without too many overt issues. They fucking hate identity politicians and tech-hipsters in particular. Nobody in that state who works for a living is going to put up with a 30+ year-old iDevice-wearing yuppie with delusions of grandeur tell them how they're being bad people for not giving a shit about fake oppression.

No, Flynt/Wu, you gibbering imbecile, you will not have "power of congressional subpoena." That power is granted only to congressional committees and subcommittees. It is very explicitly not available for the use of individual members.

Specifically:

"In Liveright v. United States, the court held that the committee rules place the power and responsibility of deciding who shall be subpoenaed with the subcommittee itself and not with any individual member."

Until now Wu neatly fitted the narrative of the poor, harassed woman in tech - just don't look at her. Except for a few articles on certain websites, which were brushed away as right-wing propaganda, she only received positive, non-critical press coverage. Most authors who wrote something about her just rolled with it and didn't even check what kind of person she is. And if they checked, they didn't bother write it, since "Poor female game designer receives death-threats by sweaty basement dwellers!" is something that generates clicks... and today there is literally nothing more to it.

But now Wu wants to do something with her life that - well - actually matters, she wants to go into politics and do something jobs might depend on. Playing the victim as some harassed indie-developer with big aspirations works, because it is a tragic story. But in the end it doesn't matter, if she succeeds or fails as game designer, because the difference is one game more or less in some online store.

Politics is an entirely different thing. The press will happily leap on any dumb thing a politician says and then tear that person into shreds if they see it fit. This is what they have done since the dawn of the free press and will continue to do so until the end of time. Brianna hasn't realized yet, that with her step onto the political stage she left her victim club card at the door. Of course, like any person without a shred of self-reflection, she now tries to continue with her victim dance, not realizing that this won't work with the media...

....especially because Trump is trying to do exactly the same at the moment.
