Correlation isn’t causation. She gave solid examples of the board folding for Harry at the drop of a hat.The fact that everybody left the board except her suggests that the problem may, in fact, be her.
The fact is that our wider culture’s adoption of concepts like “white savior complex” has changed the approach many nonprofits take. The optics of a bunch of rich white people playing a sport that’s the exclusive indulgence of the super-wealthy, congratulating themselves for what they’re doing for the poor blacks, are no longer as innocuous as they previously seemed.3) Here, she says things like the way the charity was set up is no longer appropriate post-BLM, that she increased African board members and accused the UK-based charity staff of being upset about this - implying they are racist. She claims funders want locally-led initiatives.
If you listened to previous interviews with Sophie, she emphasizes the need for entrepreneurialism to take root in Africa and help people to help themselves. She sounds almost Reaganite.
I agree she’s a shitstain progressive racist. But I don’t for a second buy that there’s no fire behind all this smoke.
