Thanks to Clearsky, I found a rather interesting development: Hope has Lynzee blocked on Bluesky and has since November 2024.

Lynzee is the only one she's blocked, not anyone else, which makes it even weirder. As for if any clique members have blocked Hope: Brainchild did in August 2023. That fatass has in the past credited Hope for getting her into anime and defended her, so must've really had a falling out.

I like the idea of this article (shows that you still enjoy despite obvious production issues), but because this site is run by fake anime fans, most of it comes off like they barely know what they’re talking about.
I like how Caitlin's entry is framed as "yes I write off shows entirely over their animation quality, but here is just the one exception". Why write for the article if that's your mindset?

Over in the forum thread, you can even see ATastySub saying that people who can set animation quality gripes aside for the sake of enjoying the story are wrong for it lol. Lynzee chimes in with "if visuals didn't matter I'd just read the book/manga", which would be a good argument if these people actually read the source material of the shows they dismiss just because of the animation. They don't. Caitlin for example won't read the Farewell, My Dear Cramer manga despite it literally being the girls sports story she wants

I really like the Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective anime, but the horrible animation at times really hampers it. Her logic is ridiculous. Caitlin, are you saying your entire critical framework for animation is thrown out the window for just one show? Doesn't that suggest a potential bias or a significant inconsistency in your reviewing process?

ANN is full of snobs that I'm not surprised someone would have a snit-fit over animation quality and say it sucks for that alone. That alone leads me believe that that's probably why it is 2016's Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou has only one review on the entire site and that was written by a freelance writer years later because I guess he actually had something to say about it.

Why does it seem like every other Answerman column these days is hyper-political?

As "progressive" as Zac Bertschy may have been, I don't recall him using the Answerman column as a political soapbox/firehose, certainly not nearly as often as the new guy.

Because he's a euro-fag of Iranian descent that worked for Manga Entertainment in the UK.

And, of course, the forums are heavily monitored by the jannies:

I still find it funny that Lynzee and the rest of the ANN crowd threw Theron under the bus, yet he's still a janny when he's not teaching.

As a gift, Justin has shared what he was like in his final moments. Because, holy shit..

TLDR: Zac was indeed drinking himself to death because of Hope trooning out and made a pass at Justin so he could leach off of him. And Justin, maybe the reason why you "can’t square your memories with the joyous ones of so many" is because you had a shitty, miserable friend.

Having sampled some of his posts, I can say Jerome is on track to being the shittiest Answerman columnist, even worse than Zac. Like Zac's stupidity can at least be blamed on him only working in editorial. Jerome's worked in the industry (one of the oldest licensees in fact) and everything he writes about comes off as second hand information.
