Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

The state of Switch emulation has always enraged me
As it should because what always ends up happening is the dumb dumbs are too public and or making money somehow and that gets them in hot water.

The lawsuits even make this painfully clear. Outright stated in fact. Nintendo knows exactly who they are and where but they are safe as long as they don’t pull dumb shit.

But they always pull dumb shit.

The cartridge part doesn't mean it's only a code, it means that the cart doesn't have the game in it, you have to download it after, still could be gifted or reselled

Sounds like it's included in the + Nintendo online, probably going to have a limited amount of games though
Its also been a thing since as far back as the Switch 1's launch, at least. NBA 2K17 and L.A. Noire both did that. Fucking 360 ports because 2K was so cheap.

A few more bits of information:
  • Several Switch 1 games will get free performance/GameShare updates, including: ARMS, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Zelda: Link’s Awakening (thank you), Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Game Builder Garage, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain.
This is such a bizarre list of games, what are they thinking with some of these choices? Stuff like the Mario and Zelda games make sense, but then the others are just batshit. Who the fuck even played the Captain Toad game? ARMS over the Splatoon games? Unironically based, but strange since Nintendo has seemed like they were done with ARMS for a while, but they still milk Splatoon for all it was ever worth. And no performance patches for stuff like Xenoblade X which just came out is dumb. I assume they'll eventually put out patches for additional games but I want to pick the brains of the niggas who decided Big Brain Academy needed to be one of their first next gen patches.

big brainaaacdemey also got so fucking boring aftetr a while

Is the GameCube thing mean that the games are included in the subscription service or do you have to buy each one separately on top of the subscription?
Historically this meant that it was included with the sub, but also the library was so small for SNES and NES when I last tried it that it really encouraged you to emulate it anyway.
Dolphin is probably the most developed emulator out there so besides already having the feature on the switch there's really no reason not to emulate at this point.

I wonder how the cartridge codes will work with stores like GameStop.
No difference. They'll be sold like the normal games. Im sure these codes can "activate" the game on any account that is currently signed in, for now.
Fallout 76 tried this but there was literally no resale market because no one bought the physical cardboard circle with the printed one-use code on it, so we have no data on how major resellers handle this. I presume they just wouldnt accept them when they inevitably become single use.

Nintendo always tried to have the cheapest hardware on the market, especially with the Wii and DS. The only exceptions to that were the SNES and N64 during the height of the bit wars. Considering their target demographic, it was a very smart move.
God I miss Iwata.
It really does feel like nintendo is just a hlloow shell without him

For Xenoblade X it might honestly be ‘game just came out and is still selling we don’t want to release a new physical Switch 2 Edition a few months later. We will wait a bit’

And well, it’s Monolith. It very well could just be a free patch that they drop randomly
but I want to pick the brains of the niggas who decided Big Brain Academy needed to be one of their first next gen patches.
Popular casual normie game that is well liked by the moms or women.

Cause it is. You have to remember he’d been the dude in charge for forever, it’s not going to feel right with him gone.

When the big name devs go, as of course they will, it will happen again. I do not envy the position Nintendo is in.

I dont event want to fucking imagine what this companyb will look ilke in five years.

It happens to all companies through no fault of their own.

Smash without Salurai I just know will be horrible.
A grabnd majority if the roster will be cut and sold back for $20 minimum each, there will also be premium "lives" and "Currenty"

I don't understand how Nintendo managed to cultivate a wholesome chungus reputation. They're right up there with EA in terms of being predatory and greedy.
It's simple: Their games are fun and the amount of effort they put into the graphics and charm of their games shields them from criticism. Plus, hey're not Sony. Therefor, they can do no wrong, but if they do fuck up, you get the Narcissist's Prayer from their cult where any fuck up and criticism is either excused or seen as not a big deal.
Shit's too expensive with rarely any price drops?
You can always buy used or keep waiting for a sale!
Also: Inflation! Tariffs! Orange Man BAD!

NSO+ was a laggy/glitchy, untested mess at launch?
Oh they'll just patch it!

Don't like that TotK is $70?
Well the Voucher exists, so if you plain on buying 2 full priced games you'll get them at $20 discount!

They shut down the 3DS eshop?
Severs cost money. At least this gives you an excuse to pirate their games now!

Oh, Nintendo was being over-proctective of their IP over piracy? Again?
People really ought to be more careful next time!

All this has come from an apologist Tendie friend of mine. These people exist and they're very bull-headed when Nintendo gets rightfully shat on for their shitty practices and even when politely debunking their excuses. I feel he'll follow the herd mentality over the the inflated prices with this one and blame it on tariffs/Trump/etc, since it's never Nintendo's fault in his eyes.
Also the thing that really peeved me during that Direct was they now let you remap buttons on NSO classics after N64's convoluted layout debacle, but it's only for GC. Oh, and the GC controller's only compatable with GC games. So fuck S1 owners, I guess. Pony up close to $500 fucking dollars for the privilege to finally be able to change your button layout for one system. Fuck right the fuck off with that.
(Edit: Disregard the part about the controller. Misread the fine print due to tard rage.)

See. I forsee worse. I forsee the roster being cut back. But eventually I think you’d have to even if Sakurai was still aroumd. But then only the popular characters will be available to buy back.

I also forsee the removal of all party game elements.

They did indeed say that some games will get updates to allow you to share S1 games on S2 thst way.

I don’t think they said you’d be sble to do that on Switch 1. Think it was bery much a Switch 2 thing.
Disappointing. This Direct was disappointment incarnate.

I'm gonna be devastated if they go full woke on top of being this damn greedy and lazy.

Smash without Salurai I just know will be horrible.
Best case scenario they just do the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe thing and rerelease it with new content, unless Sakurai is willing to do a new Smash.

Oh, and the GC controller's only compatable with GC games.
Not even SSBU?!

I wouldn't mind cutting back in the form of making "echoes" mere costumes. I can understand losing 3rd party characters too (in fact, please fucking remove Steve).

I highly doubt they'd remove the party elements. If anything we're at risk of those taking over like in Brawl, there's a decent balance currently.
