Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

I hadn't bothered to look up the specs until I read this, and just seeing the fanboys spaz out over how awesome it was that the S2 was about as a strong as a 12 year old console is... enlightening, to say the least.
personally for me, as one that grew up with a shitty PC and a Wii my childhood, i just never gave a fuck over graphics, im probably going to put all my switch 2 games on performance mode as i value a higher frame than pure graphics.
put people forget the chipset is way more modern than the PS4 (which had a shitty Jaguar CPU/APU from AMD) while the Switch APU is based off the NVIDIA 30 series architecture allowing for DLSS (but not frame gen), judging consoles by "TFLOPS" is pointless as its a baseless standard to begin with, its like how people called the Series S an xbox one because it had simiar tflops.

Well this has been a rollercoaster series of announcements.

In one corner, new not!Bloodborne game, new Metroid Prime, new Tomodachi Life, Gamecube games FINALLY on virtual console, just a whole ton of wondrous things all around.

And then we get to the prices. I love video games, I really do, but I can't enjoy video games if I've starved to death, now can I?

I clearly got excited too soon after hearing Xenoblade X was getting a modern port. Shame.

Huh i heard good things about the switch and my last Nintendo console was the SNES. Lets see the switch 2
See game prices
Lmao fuck off

They had a pretty damn good set of Directs and then fucked up all the goodwill instantly with the price stuff.
The one last week was pretty weak too.

According to this comparison, it wins out against the PS4 by a whopping 3 points. https://versus.com/en/nintendo-switch-2-vs-sony-playstation-4

Dunno how reputable versus.com is though, so take it with a grain of salt.
Hm, I'll wait for Digital Foundry, I guess (fucking hate those libtards but they make good videos).

switch 2 to this website has
>faster gpu by 20% (1007mhz to 800mhz)
>50% more ram (12gb vs 8gb)
>nearly double the tflops when even in handheld mode (3.09 vs 1.84)
>896 more shading units
>modern Wifi 6 support
>and supports 4k

ps4 advantages
>faster CPU clock speed (but god awful archtechure) 1.6ghz vs 1.1ghz (both have 8 cores)
>faster memory bandwidth (176gbs vs 102gbs)
and thats it for objective hardware the other pros for the ps4 is legit "62 mm shorter" and that its "DLNA-certified" whatever that means
i feel this website is retarded, like userbenchmarks

I've mentioned it already, but this direct was a 9/10 on its own. It's all the bullshit they intentionally hid from the direct that drops it to a 6.5/10

I mean, if you look beyond the arbitrary number and at the actual specs listed down below, the switch 2 honestly smokes the ps4 out of the water, with it probably being a hair under a ps4 pro, and far closer to it than the ps4 is to switch 2.

if you care about TFLOPS at all (i dont but still) its comparable to a Xbox Series S (3.09 for switch 2 vs iirc 3.6 for Series S). people underestimate architecture upgrades massively. if no one cared to update that stuff, we'd still be using the Pentium instruction set

Smart for them to kike up the price so high. They know their loyal nintendrones and misinformed parents buying stuff for their kids will happily consoom mario and pokemon at any price.

Dude, I can't fucking wait for Pokemon to still run and play like complete shit despite the better hardware. GameFreak needs to be fucking thrown into the garbage where they belong, I have never seen a franchise fall so low yet still make record-breaking sales every release.

I'll probably get the bundle for mario kart, but i wonder, I was talking to friends about this pricing, and half blame Biden and Bidenflation, and the other half blame Trump and the tarriffs. I feel both are true to an extent, but even then nintendo shouldnt charge 90 FUCKING BUCKS for phsyical games. Cool system, but i hope this pricing backfires on nintendo and they walk back.
If Trump's trade war was going to impact the Switch 2 price, they would have waited until after 4th to set a price to see what the damage would be.

With physical media, really would have only seen a price increases in America due to the tariffs on Mexico, however, the price increase of games is world wide. So it is just greed, and let's be real Mario Kart is going to end up 30 million+ sales it would have no issue making a killer profit at $60, this is just Nintendo wanting more money.

The worrying thing is, lot of people have been speculating that GTA6 could cost $80+, if that happens, along withwhat Nintendo is doing, I wouldn't be shocked for other publishers to start doing the same.

I find it hilarious how some people are saying the Switch 2 will be “dead on arrival” because it is too expensive.

Yes, it IS expensive. The games are VERY expensive.

But, look at the PS5: $500 price at launch, VERY SMALL list of exclusives, $70 for all games (plus many games are stuffed to the brim with microtransactions). PS5 has already sold 70 million units, and that’s BEFORE Grand Theft Auto 6.

I totally expect the Switch 2 to sell big numbers, probably similar to PS5 numbers. It also has actual exclusives in the launch window, with new Mario Kart (a potential 50+ million seller) and new Donkey Kong.

>3 year old handheld console
>no online subscription required for multiplayer
>base model costs less than switch 2 base model
>built-in microphone
>access to all of steams social features like voice chat customizable user profiles
>four backpedals
>can reassign controls easily across any game
>can download community made controller profiles for lazy niggers, even on emulated games
>can customize deadzones if your controller starts to drift
>comfy trackpads instead of bootleg mouse
>can play pointer based games without looking like a faggot
>also has gyro because why the fuck not
>can use any microsd card instead of only express or proprietary bullshit cards
>access to the largest library of games on the largest storefront in gaming history
>pirate anything and everything
>can emulate most of Nintendos entire back catalog of games, including the ones they're going to drip feed over NSO for the next 10 years
>Internet browser
>i can shitpost on the best web forum on the Internet while i pirate nintendo games in the background
bing bing.jpg

on the bright side, you can now play cripple basketball for $70 (online not included) :)

Surprised no one mentioned how the whole "game key" thing is pretty obviously a way to combat piracy, they know the last console was so underpowered people were able to emulate it on their fucking phones so now they're trying this as a way to make it impossible to pirate. same with the download play bullshit, if its anything like the DS download play you're ending up with a glorified demo, but its just enough to get people to "try before they buy" at least in theory.

they know their consumers will put up with it and its harder to fake a license for a copy of the game. I'm more shocked they didn't jack up the price of the console itself, the console being 1/5th the price of a game is sort of silly.

Nintendo really is pioneering how console games will be from now on, between the higher costs and only getting a key instead of a full game you're pretty much fucked trying to play a first party title now. plus i'd assume because of them having a unique key that each copy of a game will be able to mark who downloaded it and other info so that if it ends up being pirated and put online they'll be able to figure out the original copy pretty fucking easily.
tldr - game preservation good
one of the craziest parts about the SNES/N64 is that despite it laying in dust for decades between use, multiple generations of family have been able to pull it out and plug it in and play games during get togethers because those cartridges and controllers seem to fucking last. obviously it can fuck up, but overall its crazy. meanwhile even upon release i've had multiple games on disk fucking break on me, same with controllers.

Only thing I wonder is if the Switch 2 is going to ship with OTA implemented right out of the box, want to keep that firmware as low as possible.
Hopefully Shittendo wont follow the same trends as of late with GPUS though.

I don't get why people are blaming the price increases on Trump or Biden when everywhere else it's more expensive than the USA in exception to Japan where they made the cheaper japanese console region-locked so you couldn't import it.
I'm glad we're bringing back region locks, I can't wait to go back to the translated version of japanese games being shit and unable to play the original one in my console and having to pay atleast 200$ for second-hand games in the international market instead of the cheaper japanese one.

Same excuse retards made during the Blackwell GPU launch. "But muh tariffs", when its just Nvidia jacking up the price intentionally.
