Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

I would personally like to see them go back and overhaul/revamp the old fighters for once. It is pretty obvious how outdated most of the 64-Brawl roster has become as they have refused to change any of them for multiple entries now outside of maybe slight tweaks, at best 1-2 moves. Ganondorf and Wario are the most obvious in really needing an update as even with Ultimate's changes, they still barely resemble themselves. Hell, would argue the entire Mario cast pre Wii U could use an update, all of them feel foreign by todays standards
I mostly agree, but the Mario cast feels pretty good and like themselves. There may be a few random seeming moves like Luigi's fireball being unlike how it is in any other game, but I feel like that's become a part of his character, kinda like how he essentially got his floaty jump from a non-Mario game (Doki Doki Panic).

But yeah, I wanna see Luigi with more moves associated with him, like not just using the Poltergeist for a grab, same for Mario, integrate Fludd into Mario's jumps. They definitely need some work. Peach in particular has a lot more options now thanks to Super Princess Peach and Princess Peach: Showtime. Only thing I dread is DK's redesign getting into SSB, I hope the DKC version is a costume you can use.

Best outcome would be to create a more evenly divided roster that actually reflects how popular an IP is. Looking at Ultimate, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Zelda, Splatoon and Animal Crossing all feel vastly underrepresented for how big of IPs they all are,
I couldn't disagree more, personally. Star Fox and Metroid would be reduced to/stay at 1 character, we'd probably never get Golden Sun or Pushmo in, but we'd be flooded by Animal Crossing kids & animals and squids from Splatoon.

I think there should be a more even balance across the board, not perfectly even but no more than 3 per franchise and at least 1 for others (this is assuming they whittle down the cast size, ideally we keep as many as possible).

One would think DS could get like a Rythm Heaven rep or one of its many other decently popular new IPS : Style Savvy, the Cing Games, Brain Age, Nintendogs, etc..
That'd be great, I can see Kyle Hyde working similarly to Phoenix Wright in MvC.

Also, think getting a new artstyle would really benefit the series.
One of my favorite things about the 3DS version was its option for thick outlines and how everyone had a more cel shaded kinda look, almost like Street Fighter 4 or something. A more stylized art style like that could be good, but at the same time I kinda like everyone looking as close to their games of origin as reasonably possible.

IDK, just something about Sonic, Metal Gear, Mega Man, PAC-MAN and Castlevania feel so much better implemented than the rest of the outside franchises
I kinda understand. I think a story mode would really help with that. Also they need to be more picky, I'll never accept Steve as part of SSB. He visually looks like shit, he's an eyesore. He's not the only character that feels out of place, but he's the worst offender by a mile. Bayonetta for some reason never really clicked either, not sure why. It doesn't bother me much but she just isn't a great choice imo.

I also just hate how the emphasis went away from Nintendo characters, especially for DLC.
I only agree to a point. I think virtually every Nintendo IP should get at least one representative before any 3rd party gets in, but we also don't need to scrape the bottom of the Nintendo IP barrel at the expense of better 3rd party choices like Sonic. Fucking Piranha Plant doesn't deserve a spot at all over anyone (except Steve).

Just for comparison: it took Pokemon Red/Blue 8 years to reach 31 million sales, in 2004, when it did it was considered the best selling game of all time. In 2025 Palworld reached 31m after only one year.
Gotta factor in that more people have Steam compatible devices than Game Boys, and while I'm pretty sure Pokemon Red did cost the same as Palworld ($30) you need to factor in inflation. Additionally, Pokemon spread primarily via traditional advertising and real-life word-of-mouth instead of spreading through modern social media and having easy digital access via the Internet (until 3DS anyway). Pokemon probably would've sold even better if it had those advantages too at the time.

But it is portable, which is more convenient and comfortable.

Is this the real reason they're going to keep supporting switch 1? Not the install base but because they know it's gonna take a while to get people used to the price? That's kinda really disappointing.
If you call Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven "support", sure. They've got nothing good new to announce for Switch 1, after Prime 4 the Switch is barren. We might get some decent ports or spinoffs but they threw Switch 1 out to die immediately, and it's probably to force people into buying the Switch 2.

These are the true outrages:
  • Region locking
I really thought we were done with that shit. I hope Switch 2 is hacked day 1 and unpatchable.

From a programming perspective the concept of limited backwards compatible libraries is clearly a business decision.
Like i understand a N64 game couldnt run native on a Gamecube because the hardware architecture and available controls were completely different and newer games ended up using new engines made for the console. But what is fundamentally so different between the Switch and Switch 2 that the application wouldnt work at least similarly on both hardware without minor tweaks?
Hell, most of these games are middlemanned by Unity and Unreal anyway. And i doubt theyre completely redesigning the chipsets and hardware architecture for the switch 2.

Why do you assume games don’t work similarly between the two? They’ve already said it’s around 1% of the library that doesn’t work identically, and that those games are being investigated. Hell, they even made a public list of which games are known to have issues.

It varies between systems, but the old one is general supported for about six months max after the new one is out. The only noteworthy exceptions are NES, Super Famicom (in Japan specifically), and all the handhelds. The Wii U in particular got its last first party game (excluding BotW) a few months before the Switch released, and even ended production before the Switch.
That's exactly what I mean. They're planning switch games into 2026, with a summer release I guess a january release for tomodachi and rhythm heaven is possible but it seems odd to plan out switch games a year in advance

i can hack mario kart wii and shit it up with over 1000 custom characters and tracks for free. you are a corporate cuck with nintendo's dick in your mouth. enjoy paying $200 for "game keys"
That wasn't an endorsement and I'm not sure why you thought it was.
I just realized that this means that when smash is 80, it will be directly compared to ultimate. no way that ends well. Will be suprised if Sakurai decides to attach his name to that eventually shit show
It would have to be a complete overhaul like Mario Kart World at this point.

84 playable characters? Is that 6 characters and 14 reskins of each?
It is probably counting costumes.

Why are you so negative about the future smash game? lol, can you start complaining once the game is confirmed please

i find it funny people are bitching about nintendo games being a license but forget that you dont own your games on steam either, but hey the only worse cult than nitnendo fans, are valve fans
"Hey this other guy does that thing you're mad about me doing, so why are you mad at me for doing it?"

lol how about calling both companies assholes for doing that?

I have always called out steam for not letting people truly own their games, my point being is that you see PCMR fags go on about consoles for not owning games, but I tell them to look in the mirror, the utter truth is that except for GOG, no platform lets you own your games. Which is sad considering people have given up ownership rights to feel comfortable.
