This has to be a high score for lolsuit costs (excluding Alex Jones).
Karl is probably gonna end up $800-900k in the hole by the end of it, if he doesn't get any reductions in fees.

Rekeita has done at most half that on his montysuit. (granted this isn't finished)
Fatty Tomlinson about $200k
Maddox was a hefty chunk but nowhere near this.

That deserves a pat on the head at the least.

Karl said he had 400000$ in costs to defend himself in April of 2024. (at least I think it was around that date)
Granted, he likes to not be clear about if it is $US or $AU, so I think I will just go with the lower one, which would make that 250000$ US.

We know the actual trial in front of the judge is the expensive part because the dude hired to speak there charges a lot more than the barrister who does the filings.
Silly Commonwealth law system and all that.

So I would fully expect Karl alone to have ~500000$US in total lawyer cost.
Remember, the initial lawsuit was filed in 2021, so this has been going on for about 4 and a half years at this point.
Billy's lawyers will likely file cost for about 800000$US, expecting to be granted maybe 60% of that sum, so around the same amount Karl spent on this.
At the end he will likely be about ~1.2 Million $US in the hole. (Lawyer costs + judgement)

I think I will not be too far off with my estimate, but I am keeping it on the reasonable side. We know the judge was really pissed at Karl, so there is chance if Billy's lawyers charge excessively for their services it might be granted. I would certainly try if I was them.

This is not the first time Billy sent a "Notice of Concern" to Karl about something, which is the preamble of filing a lawsuit.
The two previous ones were before this third case was actually filed.

It is entirely possible that the previous lawyer wanted nothing to do with this case after looking over the facts. Which fits the explanation posted by several people before that he ditched his Notch-payed lawyer (or at least partially Notch-payed) when he told Karl to "apologize and settle".

[EDIT] Also minor nitpick, this would be the correct link. The case was moved from Cairns to Brisbane. That is why your link does not show the entire case.

I had hoped to be able to read the statement of claim and defence documents but sadly they don't seem to be available online.

None of the documents, except judgements, are available publicly for download.
You can request access, by going through some moronic and extensive request form in which you have to write down every single file you want to have access to.

I looked at all that garbage last year and decided it wasn't worth the effort, because surely Karl would easily win against the cheating scumbag Billy who only files frivolous lawsuits.

Definitely do not wish to pay. But as some are making claims suggesting Karl's lawyers botched his case by failing to argue this or that, I thought I'd see if his defence docs were available.

I am hoping for a Journalist to be interested enough to shell out company money to pay for the entire document dump.
Billy won for a good reason, the judge explained it very well, if Karl or any of the Jobstguard want to provide evidence the lawyer fucked this up then they can pay up and present it.

Damn, I like karl and his content. Been a fan for some years now but never paid attention to his antics outside of his youtube videos (like when he got angry when null make fun of him and his recent tranny shielding). Always thought he was right with his beef against Billy, since he (Billy) gained so much bad rep. because of many other youtubers (and karl himself obviously). Oh boy it feels funny to have an 180 like this. Karl is unbelievably retarded. What a way to ruin your life. Thank you kiwis for all the comprehensive posting and archives. You are the absolute legends in this.

I enjoy the fact that his time on the internet is limited due to him being almost 60 years old and that's his key advantage and charm. Dude was 30 years old when AOL started to become mainstream in 95, the age group that remanences of the high school days of using their cassette drive that took 90 minutes to load up a videogame on their VIC 20 computer and sees games like Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat as the Fortnite of their era. Meanwhile Jobst was 9 years old and part of the first age group who grew up with easy access to the internet as children.
And honestly, I thought Jobst was in his mid-late 20's couple years back when he brought this up. You'd think someone who was in college in mid 2000's, when the internet was still serious business (as in not), that he wouldn't be so foolish to not only speak of an ongoing court battle so openly on the internet, but to also do it on a public Discord channel in front of thousands of others to express what he truly thinks of every facet of the trial, all of which is permanently recorded.
So while Jobst and all the speedtroons seethe and rage 24/7 about Michell, he's too busy being a legitimate old man selling hotsauce and not engaging on those 'doohickey gizmo whatchamacallit redditchan sites' which in their eyes is probably the most insulting thing since that means the chinks in his armor are limited.
