A lot of folks in Jackie's situation are individuals that went into insane debt for medical stuff for themselves or their kids.

Imagine your 8 year old has a disease or something and you get like $800k of debt keeping them alive. Then, trying to pay this, you are destitute for years.

You get the option to start over or not.

Before anyone argues that bankruptcy is for deadbeats, I got to ask, what do you do in that situation? Me personally? I do the same.

Obviously, this ain't Jackie's situation but please don't paint everyone with her brush. Different situation. We could all end up like this. It's the number one cause of bankruptcy in the US.

Keep in mind the banks and credit cards that keep on extending stupid amounts of debt to people in the first place with predatory rates - the bank's favorite customers are people who are trapped in debt.

I never quite understood how bad it was until the DSP bankruptcy happened because banks gave him 14 fucking credit cards and he was literally paying the minimum interest rate on everything from his credit cards, to his car payments, to his house. DSP did actually technically defraud the banks and the bankruptcy process, but in general they keep giving people huge piles of credit, even when they don't have things like medical emergencies to pay for.

Does anyone know what Jackie actually spent the money on? In DSP's case his situation happened because he was addicted to a mobile gacha game, but it could literally just be living expenses that accumulate with debt.

She was very vague in the hearing. She started to blame the ex a couple of times but got cut off by the bankruptcy judge. I think she spent the money on rent and partying. A lot of this debt was created during the years after her oldest was born and she ran off with second worse Jason, leaving the baby with first better gay Jason.

Dude IRS debt is the most secure debt in existence. It's also the only type of debt that you can literally enjoy prison for not paying. They always get paid first. This is why CC companies and other debtors don't even bother when the deadbeat in question owes taxes.

My understanding is that bankruptcy in the US heavily favours the debtor because the system is set up to encourage borrowing and taking your shot at the American Dream (for whatever that's worth any more).

I don't know what you'd have to do to have them come down on you like a ton of bricks, but it's probably the kind of shit that would send you to federal prison and unfortunately being an ugly fat brown retard is not a felony.
