You keep proving my point over and over again. It CAN'T sell in the USA because of regulations not that it wouldn't.
What regulations? That platform is already certified in the US. Toyota could bring that truck to the US if they wanted to, but when they did their research they discovered that there’s not enough demand for it.
Also you can't buy a base Tacoma anywhere, good luck finding one under 50k because I just looked.
You can buy it at any dealer if you’re willing to wait.

Funny, took no time at all, chose Los Angeles since I'd think there would be a bunch of car dealers there:

Only upgrades look like a step and a 'door edge guard'.
Still too fucking much but anyway.

It doesn't have airbags, the engines won't meet emissions testing, and 20 other asinine things. Why would Toyota bother spending the hundreds of millions to bring a cheap truck to market when the next option up is good enough for most people? There's no financial incentive because it's been regulated out of existence.

The only thing touching MSRP around me is slightly used (25k miles).

Edit: to add, that's not even touching on the modern strategy of enshittification. Why would they give you what you want when they can give you something close enough? If you are never happy then you'll always be looking to trade up for something else.

Lmao. "Family" "Only wants a single vehicle" Maybe that's some cope they tell themselves because NO trades person at my place of work with a family has only 1 vehicle.

*Edit* Then again they also own homes. Maybe pod people only want 1 car.
The only people I've ever known to privately own a single cab pickup are older folks with grown up kids, single guys, or single child households (and this last one was only when 3 person bench seats were still popular)
All the tradies I know with families have AT LEAST a cab and a half.

I think this is just the market demand in North America. The consumer buyers just aren't interested in stripped down, new cars as they want features. If they can't afford it new they'll rather buy used. That's why all of the former cheap, bare bones, "starter-class" new car models have disappeared.

This is starting to sound like a sperg about trucks thread when it was meant to be a thread making fun of redditors who sperg about trucks in a different way
That's what happens when your reject the true 2-door utilities, utes and panel vans, for these 4 door heretic 'trucks'. :p

That being said, I'm surprised these globohomo dullard haven't been screeching about tariffs on their precious bikes yet, they seem to only have cheap Chinese junk or pricy euro bikes so I'm surprised they haven't been sperging about price increases.

Instead r/fuckcars is the usual threads about being losers, not understanding traffic management, or complaining about some perceived benefit given to motorists.

I do agree that the bed size has kept shrinking, and also agree that the truck should be designed for the maximum bed space.
How the pickup truck became a passenger vehicle is a mystery to me. Its design does not match the use.

Because unless you have an HD truck, you'll max out the weight of the bed long before the volume with most loads (though many truck owners unknowingly overload their trucks). Trucks can tow a lot more weight than they can carry in the bed.

If you have to tow anyways, why not make the passenger compartment nice? Again, most new truck buyers have families so having their "work" vehicle double as a "family" vehicle is a massive plus.

Almost everyone who drives is going to, at some point, have more than themselves and one other person in their car. This is regardless of whether or not it's one of two cars you own. It's just going to happen. Most people therefor want their truck to be able to have a back seat. It's really simple.

If you're hauling things long distance because you have a trailer of some sort of recreation (horse trailer, camper, toy hauler) then you want to spend those hours on the road in comfort. Even then, why wouldn't a tradie working want to be comfortable? Therefor they have lots more features these days.

Fuckcars people hate them because they don't believe people should drive. And it's easiest to critique someone who has no apparent "need" for a big SUV or truck because they're trying to pretend their position is reasonable. "Well, I just think cause of GLOBAL WARMING WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE you shouldn't drive a big gas guzzling TRUCK MY WORST ENEMY/FEAR because you don't work in the mines or whatever."

My dad went though that thought process when he bought his last truck. He towed a large trailer for work and ended up getting a diesel Ford Excursion so it was comfy for the whole family on trips. Big 3 row SUV with the towing capacity of the F-250.

we are literally discussing one of their biggest bugbears: that trucks are only for work and shouldn't be 'allowed' to be everyday vehicles.

r/fuckcars is full of mentally ill control freaks who are very upset over other people's freedoms. It's not enough that they are able to live in a downtown shoebox, everyone else must be forced to do so as well.
edit: also I am a small truck owner and lover, just trying to correct the record about the financial viability of them as products

I also have owned multiple small trucks and I'm on your side; they don't work in the modern market. Besides, a van is generally better for anything an S-10, Tacoma, or Ranger could do.

I can certainly understand the appeal of compact pickups in regards to personal use, but the evidence was clear: they just weren't popular, often due to not properly filling any niche. Too light for the average tradesman to use as a dedicated work truck, not enough space for use as a family vehicle, too expensive to justify having for light work in comparison to a UTV. Of course, they work fine as a personal vehicle used for hobby work, but it just doesn't have the same versatility as a full-size pickup.

Well remember, the latest insult is "rural larpers" which they can categorize that even if you have actual stuff in the back, you're not a real truck user.

I'm sure the lack of bike lanes is why she doesn't feel safe in Chicago...
Chicago has a ton of bike lanes, especially in the dense parts of the city and along the lakefront. Has he ever been to the city?
