someone should correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure the whole claim about him cheating was just that he played on an emulator, right? and that it was potential that he DID cheat? it was so long ago that i learned about all this that i don't remember if he was actually confirmed to have cheated on any scores.

Y'know, that's actually a good point and I don't know the answer to that. My understanding is the claim was he got those scores on 'original hardware' but it was an emulator, but I don't remember anything about actual cheating.

Maybe all along he's just been a silly little man with hot sauce and luscious locks who thinks too highly of himself but is otherwise utterly harmless. I just hope his hot sauce is good.

I don't see why they need experts, It seems like Billy was able to produce canceled contracts for public appearances and testimony or cancelation notices that stated they were canceled because of the Apollo suicide heat. That would be good enough proof of damages anywhere.

Any time you're so far in copes-ville that you're talking about how you need to be allowed to present you expert to tell the fact finder not to believe their lying eyes you know your case is in a bad spot.

It's as good as proven that he used the emulator on some late runs, and the use of the emulator is in its self a rule violation. It hasn't been proven that he did any tinkering with the game/used save states/gained any actual advantage from the emulator use, but from what I hear-tell there are unproven (and probably untrue considering they come from brain-warped speed run troons) allegations that he slowed the game down 3-5% for an advantage.

Karl has done videos showcasing how hard it is to detect cheated speedrujs due to the sophistication possible with current technology. All Billy would have to so is watch one of these videos to see how to effectively avoid most of the common pitfalls. Lel.

He used an emulator, and claimed he didn't. Just like using a corked bat or a deflated football. If you claim to do something that is the requirement for qualifying for a record, and you lied about that, you cheated. Sort of like if you bet on a sports game where you were a player, you get the award death penalty. It might be excessively harsh, but look what happened to Pete Rose.

Those aren't the "general damages" that comprise most of the verdict. Those "general damages" are non-economic. He definitely proved at least some actual economic damages, but those weren't the bulk of the award.

It is still very interesting information due to so much of Billy Mitchell's public image being centered around that movie. Funny to see a Karl defender in another screenshot say the Judge should have been shown The King of Kong to learn about Mitchell's character, something that was also based on lies and dramatization for the sake of views and content.

The big question is.
Is it really that important to keep going after this guy to prove he is a fraud? Especially to the degree they are putting body's on his name now.
From what i can tell, he shows up at some mid-tier cons that have the extra's from season 3 of shit SI-Fi shows nobody cares about as their flagship guests.
From all the footage of Billy being the "King of Kong" at cons. Nobody really shows interest in him and has lines out the back waiting to get an autograph. If it was not for these autistic slapfights. I doubt anyone would know him at all. And confuse his name for a character on a British Soap opera.
Billy himself shares a lot of the blame for this, he should have just rolled with the Cartoon Network punch and show a small amount of self awareness and laugh at himself once in a while.

Back when I was following this stuff, it was that he had incredibly low credibility and might have cheated. I don't know how this spun off into Billy DEFINITELY being a cheater who killed Apollo Legend. The hotsauce stuff is new to me, too.
