Breast & Ovary complaints

I most likely have endometriosis but won't know for sure until my upcoming MRI at the end of this month. The pain comes and goes, as does its intensity, but both yesterday and today it was especially bad. This morning I actually had to lie down with a heating pad for a good hour or so.

If I end up needing surgery then so be it, these fuckers are annoying.

Gorls with polycystic ovary syndrome, how was your diagnosis?
I have history in my family and have been having some problems with my period and everything, but doctors only focus on my weight (I'm not a deathfat, just a little overweighted) and the fact I'm not exercising (which I'm not doing because of an injury that I'm still treating in physical therapy).
I want to know your experiences, because I know it's not because of a few extra kilos. Some shit isn't normal.

Everyone else has said if your GP isn't listening go to someone who will. I was diagnosed when i was a teenager, like first year of getting my period and it was heavy irregular and long over two weeks. My mother did listen to me and get all the scans done they also found out i have endo so go me with hashimotos i'm just a bag of fun.

I never really bothered treating it, took the pill to manage the periods gave up on that because it made me serverly depressed and i'm not a depressive person.

Everyone else has described my symptoms to a tee on top of that i'm pre diabetic, i to am also a fat cunt but working on low carb diet has helped me loose the weight and keep it off.

He also prescribed Metformin which is mainly used for diabetic insulin resistance but since the medical field ignores women's issues, there isn't a drug available that targets PCOS insulin resistance.

Yes the metformin was incredible they prescribed it for my diabetus and it had the unintended side effect of helping manage and regulate my periods to the point i actually felt normal.

My OB mentioned metformin but never actually prescribed it to me, I’m going to have to ask her about that at my next visit. Hopefully it will help regulate mine as well
I’m 9m PP and they’ve been so heavy and horrible that I’m having to wear 2 S+ pads at the same time
Only bad thing I’ve heard about met is that it leaves you on the toilet for like the first month you’re on it and it can cause weight gain, were either of those the case for you?

Anyone else steal their husband’s Viagra to treat their menstrual cramps or is that just me?
I'm sorry to hear your husband needs the blue pill, but also kinda stoked that it helps you.
Why do ovaries just make everything gross happen.
It's intelligent design, duh! (Also feel free to give up on trying to please a ridiculous white god and seek the darkness of hell in all of your dealings going forward)

It was mentioned before, but the vast majority of "modern" western medicine takes the very firm stance of "fuck women", more-so if you are in a place that normally treats women like shit (aka the rest of the world) - Not to say that eastern medicine is better, it's not, steve jobs had the best eastern medicine cancer treatment money could buy, and still died like a dog in an american hospital. One example out of many, I know, but please, be your own advocate if you feel like you are being ignored.

My first GP prescribed me to much and he poisoned me, he was an idiot i don't see him anymore. But if you take it in smaller doses and increase to the recommended amount there's minimal pants shitting or side effects.

It took about a week for me to fully adjust but once your on it no problems.

I’ll be sure to ask her about starting me on a lower dosage at first then, hopefully it’ll work out well

She also suggested a form of hormonal birth control to help with all of this but every kind I’ve ever taken has given me crippling migraines that leave me unable to move because of how much pain they caused, I think I’m just going to pass on that one lol

In my non medical opinion low is best, you'll probably find you're also pre disposed to diabetus it might be worth checking your levels with that as well. It'll be a twofer but better in the long run.

Recently got a grapefruit sized cyst from my ovary removed, holy hell that sucked.
So, to save your ovary (I said I didn't care if it got removed) they FUCKING SCRAPE the internal lining of the ovary to prevent it from happening again.
Maybe this is common knowledge but it wasn't for me. The reason you get cysts so easily it because a cyst-like polyp holds the egg, then gets reabsorbed when it drops. People with pcos have it where it doesn't reabsorb, and continues getting nutrients funneled to it so it expands with fluid. It's also a big reason you get so dehydrated (aside from blood loss)

I'm like 70% sure the cyst was caused by 2 different birth controls negatively interacting. I had taken the shot since 17, was on it for 8 solid years because my general doc didn't know I didn't take breaks like you're supposed to, my gyno never fucking told me that and they're a woman.
After finding that out I took breaks, and last last year I decided I wanted a non hormonal birth control and oof that made things suck. I barely had a period thanks to the shot, but it came back full force with the new meds.

I got the shot again and am letting myself just have my normal period when I can at this point. I'd rather not risk another god damn cyst.

Why do ovaries just make everything gross happen.
You are an evolutionary palimpsest of every selective pressure that has ever been placed on your ancestors. You are the product of aeons of irresolvable genetic spaghetti code. There is (or, crucially, was) some reproductive benefit to genetic traits that, in you, happen to give rise to your current physical state.

This is true of your entire body. However, evolution works especially intensely on the reproductive system. There’s no standing still. Iteration is constant. As a result, when it comes to the ovaries, function and dysfunction can be so closely intertwined as to be near inseparable.

Glad I found this thread randomly

I’m about to go off my bc pills for the first time since my last pregnancy/breastfeeding journey. And I’m scared it’ll be a perimenopause shit storm

I’d love to keep taking them until I’m 50 but my doctor keeps telling me I’m too old etc even though I’m low risk for combo pills. The main issue is breast cancer risk he says

I am SO unstable when I’m having regular periods. I hate it

Also ask for extended release (XR) Metformin, as most people find that easier to tolerate than regular Metformin. Take with meals, too.

The great thing about Metformin is that it's safe to miss doses if you are experiencing side effects. The endocrinologist told me to stop doses for a day and then taper slowly back up to your usual dose, like Gonzo said.

I stop and restart the Metformin a few times a year, never had an issue doing it. The side effects aren't terrible, just vague nausea and indigestion at times.

After being on it for many years, Metformin can start to leech B12 from your body, but hopefully your doctor knows to keep an eye on that. (You then just go on a B12 supplement which is easy to take).

That Tampax commercial with Amy Schumer as the "weather period forecast girl" that YouTube will throw my way has convinced me to never get tampons ever (among other things).

Will do! Thank you for the heads up 🙂
I’ve got a really good feeling about it so I’m excited to see how I’ll fair. What’s crazy is I see a thousand Semaglutide ads on Facebook a day from all these weight loss companies and one of them was advertising met as if it’s a weight loss drug like all the GLP-1 meds lol

I haven’t used them in years, always caused me so much pain no matter what different brands I used. The recent reports of tampons containing all sorts of fucked up chemicals is quite alarming
