General Wrestling Discussion

the only dude I respect there is u/daprice82. he does these wrestling observer writeups which are pretty damn good.
I remember there used to be a guy who only talked wrestling through the lense of kayfabe and it was fuckin funny. He'd get shit on constantly for being a "mark", while all the cool kids argued over tweets and shoot interviews.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman. I’m here to introduce my client. He is a Revolutionary! He is a Visionary! He is….SETH FREAKIN ROLLINS!!!!”
Raw after mania.

If I was Swerve Strickland I would've simply stood up.

Re-watching the ending and the orange dude has the same opinion as me. Glad to finally have representation on AEW TV.

Just saw that that utter fucking hack Bert Kreischer was on Raw last night.

How much of his appearance was him laughing hysterically at his own shitty jokes?
Thankfully I missed that and the Twink Hinchcliffe on commentary. I fucking cannot wait for the Rogan-TKO pipeline to be closed for good.

Dynasty was decent overall but the World title picture and the RatedFTR stuff is cancer.

I don't even dislike Cope or Moxley that much but the booking for them at the moment is noticeably terrible compared to all the rest of the main card AEW stuff. Peak Vinny Mac late 2010s/2020s stuff of everything being geared towards the established guy going over in fucky ways just to piss off the fans with no dismount in sight.

Toni is killing it against whoever they match her with, Ospreay is having absolute bangers literally any time he gets in front of a camera and they are developing Takeshita and Fletcher as his equals whilst Omega is still arguably the GOAT even though he is clearly visibly a bit slower and more banged up now (the Okada match at Y'All In is still going to be MOTY easily).

AEW is a company that produces some of the best wrestling matches i've ever seen before showing me the exact reason why i almost stopped watching wrestling entirely a few years ago in the very next match. They put way too much emphaisis on the fanfic reworked WWE shit TK books and the fans are starting to get tired of it.

Contrarianism?

Jey and the rest of the Rocks family suck shit and the Gunther belt is just the Intercontinental Championship now anyway. They are pushing a mid card feud like it is something that actually matters.

Jey could win the belt at Mania and drop it on the Raw after Mania to one of the 5 Swerve clones from NXT that WWE decides to call up to the main card that night and no one would give a shit about any of it because Cena will be the champ at that stage and he's who they are there to see.

Just finished watching Raw and I'm really looking forward to my great luchador hero El Grande Americano's wrestlemania match, I hope it somehow leads to a whc opportunity but he's probably going to feud for the intercontinental title against penta. Speaking of the whc, I think they've done everything humanly possible to make people tune into jey vs gunther, its a great storyline on paper and even the promos and segments have been good but I just cannot for the life of me get behind him. I have no idea how to explain it but he's just not cool and I cannot get invested in his storyline. But it looks like he'll win so good for him. Finally, I know people don't really like Seth, because of the ridiculous clothing, but I really enjoy his segments. He's never weak in a promo and despite all the injuries is still a great worker. This last promo from him really sold the triple threat for me.
Jey's fine, but that's the issue. He's just fine. His mic work is good enough, his ring work is decent enough, and he does push a hefty amount of merch, but there are so many more upper-midcard wrestlers that outshine him in each individual category, some in all three. L.A. Knight is better on the mic, Penta is a bigger merch pusher, Bron outworks him. He's basically the Samoan equivalent to Austin Theory.

No I think its just a matter of taste, an example would be the codester for some people who still see him as just a midcarder, whereas for me he's the coolest guy in wwe and my top guy. I've tried to be fair to jey and I can see that he is trying very hard but he just feels like the guy who faces the villain bravely but ultimately loses before the real hero comes in to defeat the bad guy, like how it was with sami vs roman before cody vs roman.
