I’ll bite, just because that post didn’t expand and what elons replying to isn’t visible on either link.

They’re talking about importing assembled components like the tires , electric motor etc.

Every “American made” car has at least some foreign parts and are just assembled here. (2023 Toyota Tundra truck is more American made with 60% US/Canada parts content , than a 2023 Ford F-150 is at 30%) there’s so much shit from CHY NA in the cars, so tariffs are going to fuck the US produced cars as well………….

The Model 3 otoh already has 87.5% domestic content. Cybertruck is 82.5%. S and X are +/- 80%. That is a high percentage of domestic content for the industry. Space Karen can have this round.

One of the things I regard with great suspicion about about the tariff proposition is that it stands to mark almost every other type of vehicle up 20%, except , conveniently, Elon’s. And no, it’s not going to result in increased Tesla sales - because nothing is at this point, they’re toast. But it’s the sort of shit this corrupt douchebag would try without a care in the world for whom it hurts if he had just bought himself a president.

Closing out strong boys. TSLA been held up by retail investors I've heard, and tomorrow being the day the tariffs are going into effect proper, I'm hoping for a historic crashout from elon as said retail investors get spooked.

But downstream, it is likely not domestic for all the parts. So even if it is an American factory treating the screw, it might be Chinese Steel that feeds it.
