Currently, I don't see how this is helping. Doesn't mean it won't, or it can't, but it's not apparent. It appears to be doing the opposite from my place on the low rung of the totem pole.

I said it on my previous post but it's a problem that a lot of third world countries have where their industries become so reliant on the government and, while it's good for the people short-term, as they hire their own people and have good wages, you are essentially racking up costs for the upcoming government. Then, a new President is elected and they find out that none of these companies are solvent and you have to keep subsidizing them otherwise you'll have a bunch of angry workers wondering why they aren't earning enough to live. Meanwhile, your spending spirals out of control as the costs of keeping the industry alive grows and grows.

That's the problem, the orange retard hasn't even said what those "manufacturing jobs" are supposed to be. Plastic tupperware? Steel? Baby Yoda funko pops? You're supposed to decide what industry is of strategic importance and only target that, have very specific tariffs on foreign competitors and subsidize local production to get it started, you can't just tariff everything including raw materials for processing and pray.

Hey, as long as it's profitable. I don't care if they want to make Baby Yoda funko pops as long as it sells and it hires American workers to do so.

Companies will only move to the US if it's cheap to do so, you can do that through subsidies or tariffs, both have their risks. Chyna gets away with subsidies because they are essentially ant people ran by a government that couldn't give less of a shit about the impact it has on their population.

The US is a large market and it's using its influence to make companies come here, will it work? I don't know, I'm betting it will because if there is something companies understand is profit (and the loss of it), the US is a consoomer country, and businesses like those, especially those with the money to afford the things they sell.
