The Economic Collapse of 2025 - Are you tired of winning yet?

Gas near me has “trended” down. I don’t know why people are touting it as being lower. It is 2.90 with cash at its lowest, averaging out to 3.09 with credit at most places. It has been at this number for nearly a year. Well before Trump was elected. Some places it is still 3.50. I do not think he has magically fixed gas.

The issue with eggs is that prior to the election every retard was saying that Biden was explicitly raising the price of eggs. You can find a dozen interviews where Trump’s statements boil down to “Biden and his administration are keeping the price of eggs high on purpose. I will lower them.” Locally eggs were sitting around 8 dollars at the time. Trump took office and the price did not go down immediately like he said it would. Instead the conversation shifted to “well it’s because of the bird flu” which is what the Biden administration was saying before the election happened. It was a lie then followed with a shifting of the conversation.

I only start with these things because they’re just two of the examples I see of people creating a narrative to justify turning their brain off at the polls.

Now I am seeing people say they want to be the world’s factory. It’s odd because the types of products that they will be making are essentially useless. Cheap plastic stuff that is cheap and you will be paid pennies on the dollar to make. It’s odd seeing people say “well no It’ll be good for America to be a slave state where we pump out meaningless junk to the rest of the world.” The issue sane people have with the tariffs is that they’re done with no critical thinking. Just blanket tariffs made by holding numbers up to a mirror. I can’t fathom why people are okay with it.

The fact that the majority of the people cheering them on can’t even spell tariff makes it all much more ironic. The American Empire is back? Maybe if you want to be living like a serf.
And with all that manufacturing of shitty plastic comes fun industrial waste.

I ain't crying, I just think your ideas are more romanticized than realistic. Whether America prospers or burns to the ground, it's gonna be more grounded than thinking you'll seize a foreign market you've historically failed to penetrate, no matter how much the idea tickles your pickle.
This trade war is a battle of ideals. The old world order and the rebirth of America. I refuse to stay chained to the 20th century any longer. It must be burnt to the ground and started anew. It'll be hard but it'll be worth it. That is Trump's vision and why I voted for him.

It's an attack on the EU, along with Switzerland, three quarters of global medicine exports come from Europe.
A lot of raw materials come from China and India. Like I said, we need to stop relying on other countries to make our medicine but doing it this way just seems risky since you're playing with people's lives. I hope things work out and my worries about this are proven wrong.

Yeah it costs more but the quality is infinitely better and there's usually god-tier warranties.
I don't consooom tech goods like a good goy. Get real fucking hobbies and stop being man-children.

The tariffs will only fuck the ultra wealthy in the short term, hold strong and pay the menial price increase.
This is how we erode wealth inequality and try to recover a modicum of what the Boomers had. Those fuckers sold us down the river to the lowest bidder for cheap knick-knacks and junk.

You are Mormon and tried to edate on the farms, Tyrone from the hood is smarter than you

This got me thinking, will tariffs affect Sonichu medalion prices?
Unlikely, they're 100% American made.
And the same people wailing and gnashing their teeth over tariffs are the same people who have been catastrophically wrong about everything since I've been on this mortal coil. The Dot Com bubble, GWOT, Subprime lending, Covid being from a wet market, "transitory" inflation, etc.
Listen, the global economy needs America importing cheap Chinese shit just because. I don't make the rules, it's just the way it is.

holy shit this thread is radioactive

I think the real takeaway about the tariffs currently is that nobody actually knows what is going to happen. we have some sort-of educated guesses based on some shit that happened almost 100 years ago. the rest is just "experts" jerking themselves off and media spin-jobs. and I worry that, even if increased protectionism would have a long-term positive effect, even if domestic manufacturing does have the ability to regrow, that:
  1. the robber barons that lead our economy will conspire to make it fail in a gambit to revert trade policy simply to make number go up;
  2. the media will lie and say everything is collapsing in order to smear Trump while sowing despair and mistrust at the behest of their moneyed masters;
  3. our political and business leaders are simply too greedy and self-interested to be up to the task of rebuilding the country.
that said, something has to be done, something has to give. the constant creeping enshittification of everything has risen to an outrageous level, it is nearly god damn impossible to buy physical goods that aren't made with slave labor and deeply compromised quality standards. China fucking sucks and Chinese business culture is degenerate as hell, even more than America's despite its dire state. I am not sure if this is the answer, but I am sure that continuing to lay down and allow vile shit-holes like China and India to extract profit from us at the expense of American quality of life is not just reprehensible but unsustainable to boot. America for Americans. Eurocucks stay mad.

W don't even need to sell to foreign markets we just need to manufacturer for domestic.
It's an attack on the EU, along with Switzerland, three quarters of global medicine exports come from Europe.
Like this person points out at any moment foreigners disagree with us they will try to cripple us as much as possible. With Europeans moving much more authoritarian this is self preservation. Why wait for us to get back stabbed later when you can just flip the board?

I highly doubt anyone has any more experience in this thread with the Chinese Supply Chain than I do. Sure, their products range from adequate to even good but that's not the problem I'm talking about. The supply chain itself is completely fucking broken. The Chinese cannot handle any of even the most basic of logistical issues. They are unironically zog tier retards and are so disorganized it's not even funny. Their logistics aren't there and they haven't been there for thousands of years and that's why they would lose a war to the US every single time. Their armies just aren't nearly as efficient or as smart at basic problem solving than Americans are. Work with international anything long enough and you'll come to understand that outside of a few key places, the rest of the world is genuinely just dumber than the US. There's no ifs, ands, or butts about it. Most of the world is just dumber than the average US citizen and that certainly includes your average chink.
The only thing that the Chinese have going for them is their ability to re-engineer products to be viable again, but like you said their infrastructure sucks. Waiting for a Chink handheld can be the most frustrating because they take forever to update their own logistics or at least communicate to us on what is going on

its almost like they're just repeating what they're told to say piecemeal because they're literal or metaphorical automatons

People really need to consider the idea that all the reindustrialization talk is mostly just PR, and that really the purpose of this large tax increase is to raise revenue for the government. See, I've been watching Trump's second term, and what I am seeing is austerity.

"Austerity refers to a set of economic policies that a government implements to control public sector debt, often involving spending cuts, tax increases, or a combination of both."

The DOGE stuff was about spending cuts, and the tariffs are a tax increase.

Pretty much all the stuff the US imports is still going to be imported, just with large taxes on it now. I don't know why people think that a shrinking economy is going to be great for reindustrialization, except for the fact that this was the PR campaign behind these huge new taxes. Basically if you are an American you are either going to have less savings, or less food and other goods. But you are still going to be buying your goods from poor countries where they are manufactured (or grown or fished) because it's still going to be cheaper than making them in the US. Besides, since the US economy is going to shrink quite a bit, there is going to be less available capital to build industries in the US. I mean I haven't heard that "All the money from the tariffs will go to subsidize US reindustrialization," or that even any of it will go to that, have you? It's just a tax increase to get more money from you and give it to the government. That's what it's about, it's not that complicated really.
I've seen this kind of talking point among some MAGA communities, that tariffs "would offset the income tax and eventually allow for the abolition of the IRS." To me, that just sounds like the "trust the plan bro" people in the 2020 election.
