General Wrestling Discussion

Nino Hamburgesa occasionally does a high spot of eating a burger while standing on the turnbuckle for a power up
Every time you post shit like his, it reminds me of Vinesauce reacting to RLM's video making fun of the names of metal bands.

Mike: "This band is called Satan's Bloody Stool Factory"

Vinny: Oh, those guys? *proceeds to rattle off half a dozen facts about said band completely off the top of his head*

You're like that for lucha libre.

I used to watch a lot up to coof. It was an embarrassment of riches the stuff that was legit free, often live.
So I got to see a lot of guys move up the card
And I got to see Nino Hamburgesa

I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think the power up gimmick was roughly around the time (cubsfan says) one of the main Lucha Underground guys was ghost writing for Vampiro booking
That era had Marty The Moth in his AAA Original Do Not Steal version Marty Cashew (because he's nuts!) with a specific variant Marty The Shaman who had a brown paper bag to huff paint fumes from. He would share this bag with his teammates to give them a powerup, as is common for shamans

Now that I think about it Nino was more like Kensou from KoF

I watched Dark Side of the Ring with Vader.

I had no idea he was such an asshole to Joe Thurman before the back break. I had heard differently but honestly, fuck Vader. I don't blame HBK and others for not wanting to work with him

I say this as someone who loved the fuck put of Vader: Shawn not wanting to work with Vader was NOT an example of his selfishness or ego. It meant he was smart and cared about his health. I do not understand why people still get on Shawn for being mad that someone was being way too stiff with him in the ring and going to management about it after the fact.

Absolutely.

And guys who would take advantage of jobbers and legitimately hurt them are huge pieces of shit. Vader, Steiners, Road Warriors, etc... The job guys are there to make them look good. Yes, they should absolutely squash them to make them look good, but the guy going over has the responsibility to keep his opponent safe. It doesn't take a tough guy to hurt someone who can't fight back.

That reminds me of Adrian Adonis trying that shit on Dan Spivey and getting his shit wrecked for it in the ring and then again back stage. Adonis was supposed to go over but he was legitimately punching/kicking Spivey and even put him in a real choke hold. Spivey got out of it and proceeded to knock him out for real, and the ref said "Adonis is supposed to go over" and Spivey said "I am changing the finish" lol. Road Warriors tried it on the Undertaker when he was in the Sky Scrapers with Spivey as well and Spivey saw them doing that shit to Undertaker, so he took a chair and proceeded to legitimately hit them with chairs as hard as he could. Taker was supposedly scared they would charge their dressing room but Spivey knew that the Road Warriors knew not to fuck with him (guy was legit on Haku level toughness) and they just said "thanks for the match!" after. Spivey was apparently an accomplished collegiate football player, amateur wrestler and was training to become a pro boxer before he got into wrestling, so you didn't want to fuck with him.

Yeah I’ve heard the stories about Spivey. He seems like if you’re cool with him he won’t be a dick to you. But try something with him well good luck. I also watched the Vader episode and I do agree, he seemed like a massive cunt for what he did to that guy. I mean I feel bad for his son losing his father the way he is, but he wasn't exactly taking care of himself. He had diabetes but kept drinking himself until he paid the ultimate price for it. So far the season has been pretty decent. But man the Foley one really shocked me with how much damage he took from that cell match.

It's not just you, things have changed for the worst. I used to love to dip my toes in watching the indie scene back in the early 2010s, and I used to usually have a great time when I did.

Somehow along the way, probably after AEW and NXT scooped up basically any worthwhile talent, it turned into a freakshow of no dimes shitters, troons and people who couldn't even job in WCW in the 90s running the indie scene.

It's sad, I feel bad for the young wrestlers trying to gain a following in this shit show of an indie scene, we are a long ways removed from the Chris Heros and Claudio Castagnolis that were internet darlings back in the day.
I mean, I do think it's pretty good that WWEID and to a extent, ROH/TNA are still there. OVW isn't buttfucked either.

but to go to a indie event without either encountering jobbers who book themselves as superstars, tranny's/fags, or just green as fuck wrestlers in the main event is rare now. I'm not saying be prime PWG level, but at least give me a reason to go. I'd rather get my passport and go to an AAA Event then go to my local indie that isn't NXT.

I mean storyline wise. The whole constant cheating and never losing the belt. How do you end it and move on?

In my mind you go with finally his reign is over and they open up the stupid case in the middle of the ring, and it's empty.

Moxley has a breakdown in ring. Tony offers him rehab. That gets him off TV for months. Then he can come back as a baby face and take on the rest of the death riders who have just devolved into a meth gang.
on one hand, I would genuinely pop for that. on the other hand, that is a INSANE angle to pull off in Television.

90s HBK was a lot of things but yeah not wanting someone to work stiff on you is understandable
Kidd Bandit would’ve never made it to a 90’s locker room. He’d have been booed out of the business on the indies by then.
honestly yeah, for all the complaining about "le Transphobic Wrestling fans" now, if someone like him came out to the ring back then all bets were off, even Flair would get "Faggot" chants as a general heel heat thing, dude would probably cry if one person chanted that
I personally liked Sid in Vader's spot in late '96 better anyway.
ive said this before but Sid had the most successful "forgotten" career of any wrestler, 2x WWE Champ, 2x WCW Champ, and two WrestleMania main events one against Hogan and the other against Taker, im glad WWE gave him a tribute when he died.

The funny part is that Sid could have been even more successful if he didn't like taking time off to play Volleyball

That is just beyond retarded. The whole gimmick is retarded but if he had pulled out the cereal and started eating it in the corner, it'd have been a lot funnier
I'd like to see him smash two of these together and pour them in his mouth, kinda like Stone Cold and his beer cans.

I can't help wonder if indie wrestling is getting worse or my tastes have shifted over time. I was never a forumhead, but I was with the IWC in rolling my eyes at Cornette for not "getting it." I liked the Kota Ibushi vs blowup doll match, I laughed at chuck Taylor's grenade spot, and I even got a kick from the Invisible Man vs Invisible Stan skit. This? I don't know, something about this in particular irks me in a way that none of that other nonsense did, and it isn't just the fact that Kidd Bandit is a worthless weirdo.
But see, back then DDT and Chikara were goofy, they could afford to do that shit because it had a place in the card. But selling a bag of Lucky Charms like you're getting pelted with glass and dragged through barbed wire is retarded, no matter the era or place you do it.

You could argue that if the Cereal Man did a spot where he force fed you the stuff like the Boogeyman did the worms, it could work as a silly spot, but otherwise its just self-indulgent crap and a waste of perfectly good cereal.

Dynamite going from an entertaining womens match with Toni Storm on commentary to yet another pointless tag match with a Deathriderz beatdown to end the show makes me feel like someone backstage is as pissed off with this shite as the fans are.

Show them what they could have as the main storyline vs. what absolute scutter TK and Mox are feeding them every week. There's 6-ish weeks build to the next PPV and every show is going to end with the fucking Deathriderzzzzzzz and i just simply don't fucking care any more.

This is as bad as any of the shit Vince did when he was spite-booking. It's even worse maybe because the AEW fans are much more vocal sooner when something isn't working. I'm actually surprised Mox is ok with this nonsense because he has a decent instinct for hack shit that isn't working.

Mox is probably threatening to leave if he loses the belt, I think its a combination of that and as you said Tony spite-booking, he's just as bad as 2018/2019 Vince when it comes to not getting the fans
