What are people here's thoughts on Jonny Kim now that his astronaut mission is going on?

To me, he appears to be another case of a SEAL with a grossly exaggerated resume.

But Jonny appears to have only ever had two jobs: combat medic and astronaut. The Harvard Doctor and Navy SEAL are the same job. It's still impressive, but there are countless medics in the military with a similar story (minus winning the astronaut lottery), none of whom get articles and memes written about how much of a genius they are.

Compared to Apollo-era astronauts, his resume is sparse. Armstrong and Aldrin were both engineers who flew dozens and dozens of combat air missions in Korea. Armstrong tested hundreds of prototype airplanes and Aldrin had a PhD in engineering and his thesis (and later work experience) focused on orbital rendezvous, which was cutting edge (and relevant to NASA's mission) at the time.

It's kind of funny because he did the trifecta of memes. "SEAL, Doctor, Astronaut" in choosing "meme cool" jobs.

Though, being a combat medic and an actual Harvard MD are very different and so is the flight surgeon pipeline. He also did a BA in Mathematics and went to sniper school. He also did two deployments and got a Silver Star.

It's a very impressive career. And while yes, most of the people who were Astronauts also had a super impressive careers, Kim is respected because the average brovet pipeline after leaving is generally substance abuse, peddling stimulants, selling shooting courses and/or shooting themselves. One of the cool things is that Kim took advantage of all the things the Government offered to advance instead of remaining an enlisted sailor.

Not sure who this account is, so may be straying a bit from the Tier One stuff, but I think it's good to remember that this is a fairly common mindset with veterans and the civilians who suck their cocks.

Saying this stuff on a verified account shows high confidence that they'll never be held accountable for the murders they're referencing.

We saw similar things with the Australian SAS guys a while back, the ones who were openly podcasting about these same "drop gun" tactics that they used to cover up their murders of unarmed civilians.

If I'm not mistaken, the allegation is that "Hayden" is one of several civilians from various countries who have successfully catfished Delta Force Operators on Instagram, getting them to share deployment photos they should not have. Then they threaten to release the photos to the public unless the Delta operators sell old kit to the catfishers and/or share more photos. I have no idea if this is true, or who exactly Kraken is. But it is true that several photos and videos of Delta that seemingly were never supposed to be public have ended up online. This loose collection of civilian catfishers also appears to have internal beef with each other not related to the actual operators.

Naw, It's just such a horrible situation to be in. The helmet cam and photos that was released a while back of that too is hard to watch. I'm not sure about the numbers it could just be the news site reporting old information, but 20-30 guys ambushing you is a lot. The whole story of that ambush is really frustrating and sad. It is pretty strange the degree to which these guys "talk beard." Supposedly the military let the special forces guys grow them out so the locals would relate to them better. That strikes me as probably irrelevant. You're an invader from another race in a foreign uniform with a different language, I doubt the beard makes Ahmed feel more secure and I doubt that he was confused that you were a woman or something. Also, I don't think Ahmed spends more than 2 seconds thinking about or discussing beards with the other men of Afghanistan, it's just part of their background culture and religion. I could be wrong. Just a hunch. But given what a thrill our guys seem to get out of having them, it seems more about making the operator feel more confident as he runs into a house at 2am.
