There is definitely value in a professional critic openly stating "this was such dogshit I walked out halfway through, sorry." That in itself is quite a strong sentiment about the quality of a production.
This does not explain the box office reception Minecraft got and I've heard good explanations from people who bothered to watch the entire thing.

Minecraft has always somehow had unusual interactions with money, from prompting Microsoft to pay billions to buy it from Notch to this mid-at-best film on track to earn a billion over its lifespan.

Autistic building block simulators are big business :story:

But why really? The answer is simple, it made a genuine connection to its target audience while Boomers scratch their heads at it.

Honestly, I hope it does so that every front-running midwit who makes a particular movie into a cause celebre is told to shut the fuck up because if Minecraft can make a billion, the movie you have pledged allegiance to as some sort of "movement" (Black Panther, Barbie) isn't that great either.

I used to watch these guys all the time, but after that one episode they did trying to berate the audience into liking woke shit I watch them sparingly. Just deep fucking down every one in the entertainment business no matter how small is secretly globohomo who begs for Talmudistic rule. Not because they believe in it but because they believe following it will let them fuck kids.
Yes yes, perfectly normal view of the world you have there. Not at all indicative of mental illness. At least "Mr. Racewar1488" liked this absolute babbling lunacy, so you know you're in good company.

Has that been proven though or is it just a nasty rumor?
Not the Polynesian part, the other thing.
It was on video, I'll have to find it.

I'm using Rumble bc it's closest to the original, but there are a squillion YT videos out there also.
Bless them, 4plebs has a gif:

Funnily enough, Momoa had gone on an apology tour prior to this after chuckling about enjoying his rape scenes on GoT at a convention:
preservetube

A similar thing happened with Jeffrey Dean Morgan:
preservetube
As you'll see, after yukking it up, he clarifies that he was being sarcastic, all smiles, with a cheering adoring audience. Rape is a real crowd-pleaser for the niggercattle.

In a re:View first, we're covering a movie we've already talked about before! Oh wait, I guess we kind of did that with the Friday the 13th movies. But ignoring that, this is the first time we've done it! Rich and Mike sat down to have a discussion of Star Trek The Motion Picture. If you were unaware, there have been many many many re-releases with various tweaks and changes and that's discussed amongst other things. Coming soon!

I'm actually looking forward to this. Their last Re:View of TMP was Mike and Canadian Jim indulging in delusional Trekkie ballwashing. This might end up being the same thing, but Rich's takes are reliably normie, so we might actually see some arguments.

So what you're saying is that Rich is the key to all this

I welcome this and honestly see no reason why they wouldn't go over all the Trek movies for Re:View. All the movies, even the really bad ones, have interesting stories and behind the scenes tidbits that I'm sure they could talk a ton about.

On that note, I want them to actually go through and talk about each season of TNG like they did with Season 1 as well. It was them talking a fair amount about Star Trek in 2021 that pushed me to watch the show again and fall in love with it all over again.

I don't know how they haven't made a series about watching DS9 with Jay.

Agree wholeheartedly, BUT with the caveat that y'all should rate me autistic because I know I'm just biased. I love Trek and these two dunderheads are my favorite people to listen to talking about it. I could watch like a dozen more episodes of Trek Trivia, it's so fun.

In general, anything that isn't just reviewing popular stuff + new stuff is the best content from the channel. That I think shouldn't be a controversial opinion at least. Whether you like Trek or not, at least it's not halfhearted discussions crapped out to appease the algorithm. Right?

I always avoided it because everyone said just watch 2, 4, and 6. Is the first movie actually decent? What version should I watch?
The big issue with it is that it's basically several episodes of the cancelled TV show put into a movie. It's long and meandering at times, but the visuals are gorgeous and I do like the premise, it's very Star Trek. The movie being way too expensive and bloated also paved the way for Wrath of Khan, which cuts out the fat and, having to make do with less, did so much more.

They clearly still love the old stuff, they are still massive fans and that passion bleeds through the discussion. More ST talk, whether that be TNG, DS9 or Voy or hell, even ENT will still draw people because they've already proven people will tune in to watch whatever they put out. Why not talk about older stuff that could entice someone to look for it and become new fans? There are too many recommendations to count I made for movienight just because they dropped a Re:View a few days before.

What are your thoughts on the shockingly high overlap between Star Trek fans and child molesters? That Venn diagram is shockingly close to a single circle.
