You are absolutely right the Farms is an extremely poor environment to make such connections though. It's a bit of a shame because you can interact with really interesting people in here, especially in some of the slower, more niche threads where there are a couple of well-known regulars and discussion is generally well thought-out and engaging. But it is what it is I suppose.

For a bit of anecdata (with a side of powerlevel), way back when I was a teenager I met a guy my age playing an MMO that was popular at the time - think WoW or the like. We partied up a bunch of times, somehow made it into a regular thing, and the friendship persisted well beyond the game. Dude's from a different country but we've met IRL a couple of times, spent a week or so vacationing at the other's place. Still talk to him occasionally, to this day.

I agree, but I think that I've met some of my favorite acquaintances in my adult life here. People here generally aren't acting fake, and after having been kicked out of every group of contacts I was ever in because of identity politics bullshit I can now look back on those times and think those people were never friends to begin with. Threads like this have been genuinely fun, and I can't think of any other place online today where you can talk with each other like this and not have somebody get so asshurt that they try to have you fired, homeless, and killed. I like you faggots.
