Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

When I first heard about the remake I was excited since they said they wanted to tone down the comedy aspects of the original to make it more serious and realistic, so I was expecting it to be like Kenshin: Trush & Betrayal. I watched both seasons and was really disappointed. All the characters just seem flat and one-dimensional.
We were spoiled with good quality too early, at least I was... the EDs are a great example. I was too young at the time to really understand what was going on, but ED 3 fucking blew my mind as a kid. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now that I'm grown ED 5 has become a bit more impactful for me simply because of the downbeat vibe in relation to what's actually being covered in the arc.
I can't wait to see funny haha president valentines day man getting animated
They better not fuck up Mandom...

Is anyone watching Kowloon Generic Romance? I wasn't sure what to make of it but it's starting to clarify its genre.
It's in the title. Romance. Okay, scifi and mystery are the other two, but it'll take a while for these two genres to really pick up. Some people dislike on scifi and mystery parts, because they involve with few more characters. Taking screen-time away from Kudo and Kujirai more. Well, the two additional characters are in homosexual relationship. I'm aware seeing fags is enough turn some people off no matter what.

So far, with two episodes, they cut few bits and re-arrange already. Introduction to Xiaohei is cut, this part is before Hajime Kudo sleep-kissing Kujirai in manga.
Flashback when Kudo first met the Kujirai-B is after Kujirai talks to Youmei (anime) instead of before Kujirai wants to talk to Youmei (manga). Another part get cut where Kudo and Kujirai help a chicken store, walk through small alleys and see a giant billboard of Dr.Hebinuma. Most important part is Kudo's opinion on Hebinuma and the second time Kudo talking how Kujirai ears aren't pierced after Kujirai visiting Hebinuma clinic. Two times would be more convincing than one time to Kujirai wants to try on earrings right?

Ep 2 ends on middle of chapter 15 manga.

I'm interest in the mystery part. I originally thought she had lost her memory, but they make it pretty clear that she's not the same person with the ear piercings and crows feet. Dr Prick's reaction seems to indicate that she isn't a human clone but unexpectedly feels human, so i guess she's a synthetic construct? I'm guessing there will be a bigger rugpull about Kowloon being a medical experiment, which would explain the free medical checkups by Dr Prick.

Why are women like this?

Well, except for that one time the alien killed her best friend and most of her friends family in a hit and run and was never caught and held responsible. But she has aliens for fans so it's fine.
Does she even know it was an alien that was involved? I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt unless she's been fucking her fans.

Also I'm honestly liking Lilly♪, gonna be sad when it inevitably comes out he's not as wholesome as he makes it out to be.

I assume, under the normal way things happen, that Protag gave his description to the police and there was some sort of public statement about looking for the suspect of a hit and run that cratered 3/4 of a family.

I watched the first episode of GQuuuuuuX
The show had me at "good guys won the OYW", though I fully expect the eternal Nip to fuck it up and remind us why letting all of humanity be ground to dust under the heel of the Federation is ackshually a good thing.

I love the Zaku redesigns, but the Gundam looks like complete dogshit. That being said, the protagonist is likeable because she actually has guts, so we don't waste three episodes on her existential crisis over having to attack people trying to kill her.

I do wonder where they're going with the plot. Zeon has won, the Sides are free and the Federation is, I assume, no more, or severely diminished. They'll either have the Titans or some other Feddie remnants be the villains, or make Zeon the bad guys for the n-th time.

If aliens = niggers there was no way they were going to give out to the public what the suspect looked like.
Yeah but I would assume like in the real world even normies see through the lack of description for what it really is. So either it never really occurred to the author that people would question the official narrative so they didn't (not really a rare affliction in manga writing) or pop idol is just holding an idiot ball on the subject and managed to dodge all IRL conversations about her friend's death and believes the official description uncritically. Of maybe she's just a self centered cunt but I didn't pick that up from her character.

I'm starting to think the aliens are more general Americans because of the Status of Forces Agreement the two countries have.
Supposedly because of the agreement japs (particular ones from Okinawa) accuse US servicemen of getting off scott free or receiving slaps on the wrist in relation to the crime the commit, the most common thing they point to is in the 90s two different soldiers killing someone while drunk driving and each getting a 1-2 year sentence or when 3 servicemen raped and killed a 12 year old girl and each got a maximum of 7 years. (Also recall something about another DUI fatality that was used in the election cycle).

I swear, Vigilante is basically "what if we make the premise of Hero Academia actually good". Every character is a better version of the original cast, Knuckleduster especially is fucking awesome with being hobo Batman.

I said it before, that it's American allegory (especially with the running over story appearing a lot in regards to American troops). The nigger allegory is funny, but (still) not happening in Japan. Not that Japan isn't infamous for being absolutely corrupt with how the elites can get away for crimes.

Watched that Twins Hinahima with a friend and I feel like all of the complainers have missed what the studio was trying to go for because they only read the background to the production and made up their minds before watching it. It's obvious that an AI wrote the script (and it's meh), and did majority of the animation, and I think it went through archives of the voice-actresses' recordings to splice them together, but you can definitely see that there were still actual animators involved for clean up. It was obvious as soon as the girls enter further into the city and it literally melted into AI slop while the girls themselves remained relatively the same, unless there was multiple overlays of AI input edited together in post (which is likely). There was careful consideration involved, and I can appreciate that.

So in a sense, I think I get what the studio was trying to prove in how AI should be used, but the animation community (mainly in the west) will not or refuse to look at it as such. It's okay to say it's still too soon to use AI or to just put limitations on it, but it's absolutely insane to just outright reject it because you're literally afraid it will take your jobs when it's just a tool no different from your drawing utensils (traditional or digital). If one of the goals was to help cut down on production time so an animator doesn't have to feel like they need to do crunch time, I think that's a goal worth pursuing.

Also weirdly enough, the animation made me think of early-2000s web animation. I don't know if that was intentional like the rest of it, just that it was weirdly nostalgic?

I should go rest my eyes for a bit, though... I dunno if it's an aftereffect from the anime or if it's just from writing all this text with the current theme.
