To be specific, as I remember it he got bootyblasted hard because people started calling him a cuck (first real introduction of "cuck" into internet slang I believe), then the GamerGate shitstorm caused him to all but give up on actually running 4chan the way it used to be. He censored /v/ which caused the (short-lived) 8chan exodus, then turned /pol/ into the toilet bowl of the website, which even after being restored to "normal" it never recovered from. 2014 was in fairness a shit fucking year, between the fappening and the (((gaming journos))) descending on 4chan, I don't envy his position and the things he had to handle. But his sensitivity to the push back you mentioned obviously made him lose his passion for running the site.

Hiro never had an interest in running the site. It's pretty obvious by the way moot and Hiro handled themselves - while moot would appear fairly often around the site, albeit less frequently as time went on, Hiro appeared what, like 3 or 4 times tops? I wouldn't be surprised if half the time it was someone skinwalking as him using his account. I don't know what Hiro's ultimate goal for 4chan was. Money, presumably. The shilling of 4chan passes made that clear enough, but I still wonder if he had any other goals with the site. It's been discussed for a while on /v/ at least that RapeApe was running the show instead of Hiro anyways. I just hope we know at the end of this fully what the fuck has been happening for 10 years, because I believe there's some serious tomfuckery at play with the site for a long time now.

Yes they were , but the list they pulled from didn't separate by boards, the best way to find this would be to use the discord leak and cross reference it. See what tags they were given in the discord leak and you might have your answer.

If you wanna know a little about the inner workings of 4chan moderation I can field a few questions. Not sure why this maddens people so much. I was able to crack another hash. Bcrypt is used for a few of them, such as the site "rolld20." It was fairly simple, as I simply bruteforced the previous passwords in, and it worked. I logged into the mod's account (Aeolian,) and didn't really do anything except change his profile picture to that one photo of a black guy eating a croissant. The good news is that the data breach is becoming easier to understand.

I thought i would feel more broken up about 4chan being down considering i have been on that site since 2008. But its true as people on this thread have already said. the site is not even a shadow of what it used to be. Gamergate is when the decline really started and since has been the death of a 1000th cuts (from SJWs, the 2016 election, the normalization/federalization of the Internet, GOOK selling out the site to marketers and the feds, people in general just becoming more weird/radicalize turning into sexpests and giving them positions of power etc). It makes you wonder what all these people will go now. we joke that reddit was the continent site that keeps all the worst derange lunatics at one spot, and the fear of the site shutting down would flood the rest of the internet. Where will the 4channers go? will they just end up becoming full-blown redditers? migrate to X? or open up a private discord?

Either way, the death of this site is another death of the old internet that would remind us of how things used to be before all the normalfags got in with their smartphones and made everything gay.

Hiros ultimate goal was making money by selling data. You can look into this more via Google. He worked with a company that used precice mobile geo location (down to the direction you were facing) to sell to whoever was interested. Aka if you stopped and looked in shop window for 30 seconds. Put 2 and 2 together.

Glad he kept the site running but moot was a superior admin. Actually invested in the culture. Hiro has let bait and trolling OPS run wild on the most popular boards.
