That's actually true. In the town I grew up in there are hardly any black people, everyone talks about how they all ran away because of a lynching in the towns square in the early 1900s. It's talked about as this horrible original sin of the city that the whites still need to atone for. I did some research on it and found out there's more to the story. The first two blacks lynched had just gang raped a white woman. After that, the mob broke into the jail and lynched a black man who had been legally convicted of murder of a veteran. I'm thinking, uhhh who tf cares if a murderer or rapist is lynched? Lmfao. I think the white people then were upset that these offenders were not getting their just desserts, that they were going to rot on the tax payer money or perhaps get off thru the judicial system (the rapists). If the justice system isn't serving justice, don't be surprised if people take shit into their own hands, especially in a small town.
