it'll probably take them a very long time to get the site back up. I feel like they don't really have a responsible server administrator, and whoever is fixing this is basically going to need to:
1. Reformat the entire device.
2. Reinstall 4chan.
3. Restore 4chan's database to the last save state, if available.

But who is the person responsible for this? Does anyone know how to do this? They're running it on FreeBSD, last updated in 2019. Does ANYONE Hiroyuki has contact with actually know how 4chan actually works right now, enough to completely reformat a server and get this running?

Not a board I frequented since it was essentially /x/ with trannies, but it's a sentiment you'd find about jannies on basically every board. No interest in preserving actual discussion, but instead protecting shitposters and even banning users who criticized their lack of moderation. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn a good amount of spam came from janny ips.

Yeah unfortunately the moe site isn't the legacy 8chan, it's ran by all the people that made it shitty. Probably the closest thing I've seen for legacy 8chan is the actual webring but it's a slow burn there.

Even if it comes back how are mods going to deal with the endless mockery and spam? Because mind you they didnt get "hacked" by some 14 year old boy from Pakistan (unlike this digital Fort Knox) but the fucking sharty of all places. I mean, it's not like imageboards have "content" to speak of, it's just a DB skeleton. People finding their way into stuff and going rageDELETE goes back to the earliest bulletin boards. No reason that the same posters wouldn't just resume their shitposting the second it's back online.

I remember the front page being the reason all the boards were slow for awhile. Something about cache not clearing or something, but the front page of 8chan was for awhile the reason why it was slow.
