General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I have been here for years and I can speculate and criticize the multi million dollar vtuber idol company. You are the one needs to fuck off.
since I guess you need it spelled out for you more clearly.

He's calling you a tourist not because you're 'new here" but because you're saying things that are easily disproven by actually listening to what departing talents are telling you (regarding Idol stuff) and complaining about some stupid in joke they make (idol meeting) like it's some sort of sign of something deeper that doesn't exist. It's like getting mad and trying to say "cover just tells them to joke about being comedians so that fans don't think they're forced to be idols" it has no basis in reality and seems like just weird seething to try and hamfist a rrat

You're posting like a tourist, someone who doesn't actually watch streams, maybe just some clips and reads shitposts,

And whatever the trend of "I can say whatever stupid shit I want if it's about a company because I can just deflect any criticism of what I say by acting like the person criticizing me is a corpo bootlicker" Can genuinely fuck off.

Nobody is telling you "no criticize rich company!" they're telling you "yeah that doesn't make sense or check out with reality. Bad criticism, of even a big company, is still bad criticism. Cover's definitely had their fuck ups but some of you guys tread way off the path of reality and just write basically fanfic while ignoring reality.

shit talking your boss is a really bad idea when you're quitting your job, especially if you're hoping to sign with another agency. if she talked shit and called people out by name she would basically be forced to retire or go indie. iirc someone said earlier nyanners went indie and it killed her channel.
Cover is the biggest company in the game, and formerly the best. 0% chance that anyone who leaves will join Phase or VShojo. Nyanners fucked herself over. Dooby, Nimi, Dokibird, and Mint are all doing fantastic after going indie.

That sounds like something someone in the know would say, and what would be the how "Managements handling of them" is causing a shift in vibe?
I'm just about the least "in the know" person you could find for a topic like this. It's just personal intuition. I don't think it's the biggest factor, although that math looks different for every individual talent.

My mental image of the landscape looks like this: pre-Advent, we already had some talents partly or even mostly doing the bare minimum to fulfill their contractual obligations. Whether it's health issues, workload issues, travel issues, burnout or something else - several of the talents have simmering discontent of some kind. Then Advent debuts, and we get a dual talent in FWMC who are both an instant hit and champing at the bit to capitalize on the windfall of success. They instantly gel well with JP talents/audiences; they're (for all appearances) a dream come true.

What if JP management looked at these magical white girls and thought to themselves "Why can't they ALL be like these two? It's obviously possible." These impossibly, perfectly weebtastic twins who speak the language and have appeal for both JP and general audiences... I think they landed with an impact that everyone in the company felt. Any of the talents who already felt a little distant or checked out might take one look at FWMC and think "You know what man, maybe this whole scene will get along just fine without me" or some other flavor of mentally hanging it up. Bonus points if the twins are suffering from the professional version of re-feeding syndrome, gobbling up everything they possibly can because they're FINALLY getting somewhere after languishing forever in the clutches of GGN. Throw in a manager or two who are just "doing their job" and not considering the possible downsides of giving FWMC too much leash, and I can see the whole situation becoming kind of a mess behind the scenes.

ETA: To answer your management question specifically, I'm thinking staff/managers gave FWMC a lot of leeway and positive attention to the extent that other talents might have felt slighted (or perhaps they actually were, in one or more of those weird ways that JP work culture operates). Like I said, this is just speculation on my part and I'm going off my personal intuition about how the different cultures and personalities involved could play a role in things.

I am worried about Bae, though. Her generation fell into pieces and all of her friends seem to be leaving/are doing stuff without her

She just seems to be on a roll of losses and failures, and that could break anybody
I don't watch Bae too often, but isn't she closest to IRyS, Calli, and Kronii? I don't know about the latter, but the first two are leaving anytime soon.

I know you were being hyperbolic by saying 0%, but come on..... samuel-skimdog-kim-kson-final2-642327963.webp

Yeah, she is on very good terms with IRyS, but you have to consider that the three that you mention are burning all their time in their personal careers

IRyS and Mori are becoming stars, making songs, albums, concerts, the whole deal. Mori herself said it an hour ago, that she wished that she had time to talk more with Gura. There is no time in their schedules, that's also why Mori hasn't hung out with Advent since HoloFES.

Vei and Nyanners were 10k+ viewers streamers in the past, the reason they killed their channels is they had inconsistent streams for some long periods of time and usually brought their BFs into their streams and literally flirt with them 3rd wheeling their own audience(it would have been funny as fuck if they worked for hololive) and of course their streams became more boring. They also had alot of collabs with different vtubers in the past but Vei, Nyanners and Silvervale after they left Vshojo became hermits barely streaming and barely collabing with different people other than themselves.

I mentioned this a couple weeks ago but Bae's biggest enemy is herself.

She's consistantly been heaping more and more onto her plate trying to do the "mori thing" and go ham focusing on music while not reducing her streaming output. While at the same time she keeps cutting short any break she puts out for herself (most recently she was supposed to be taking this entire month off but reduced her break to just 2 weeks instead of the full month so she could be around to collab with Mumei before her graduation)

Any Talent that puts out that they want to try and emulate mori's work output is an immediate red flag for me (I think Kobo has expressed something similar before as well) which I don't say to glaze my oshi (Mori) but just that Mori....... is not normal in the way she works, she's found a way to make it work for her (fixing her schedule to stream in the mornings did wonders for her mental once she finally set it in place) but she just genuinely does more than I think any normal person ought to force on themselves because most people aren't wired in the head like a workaholic.
she wished that she had time to talk more with Gura
Keep in mind as well in the context of this, Calli is busting ass in Japan while Gura is primarily in the states. Timezones would also fuck with their schedules and ability to talk and hang out more than it would for Calli and Bae (whom Calli talks about often how Bae is a close friend she can always reach and hang out with if either of them need to blow off steam)

The advent of...Advent (lol) gobbled up basically every audience whose original oshi was absent or in crisis. That's why you see a lot of ex-Nijifans now supporting Nerissa and to a minor extent Shiori.

It was literally just the right place on the right time

Anyone hand waving the obvious management issues away needs to remember these two points.
In the context of the post you quoted, he was citing NDAs as a reason why a talent would never say anything negative about idol culture, which is brain dead stupid. NDAs would be about the company operation, not about how the talent feels about being an idol.

Meh, I don't really buy into the "They could get into legal trouble" narrative ever since the Selen Incident. Dokibird and Anycolor barked at each other for weeks and at the end there was no legal battle or anything, even if that really was a huge deal, unlike these graduations

ah shit ? looks like they lost the Hulk Hogan of Vtubing, sad but it was a long time coming, might as well just combined Myth and whats left of Promise at this point
It would be very confusing since that's two whole numbered gens getting merged. I'd wager merging JP Gen 2 and GAMERS would be more likely if one more Gen 2 member clocks out.

Fuwamoco was always going to be big because they are: Halfus, speak JP fluently, were well regarded "not-indies" who got fucked over by a creator who thought people were tuning into their streams because of the game, and like old japanese shit. The girls in JP were all over them.

It took a bit of time before the rest of Advent caught on and found their niches. Biboo was way too scatter brained at first. Nerissa leaned in way to heavily with the GFE shit. Shiori was always doing weird streams.

It just takes time for the filters to kick in. Shirori is still Shiori and doing Shiori shit, but the casuals were filtered. It's like that for all of Advent.

It was like that for Council too. It's nothing new.

There is also the possibility of Amelia coming back. She said that she was in no condition to stream (as Dooby) and that she needed to find herself before anything. She refunded memberships even.

Having an organized schedule and homework could give her mind some much needed dopamine, but it's near impossible for a company to ever stage a return.
