Would you do it? Imagine you were a holostar and you left to stream under a new independent persona. Would you start talking shit about Cover and how bad the people working there are, how favoritism and certain holos and shareholders dictate who gets to take a shit at what time etc (for example) only for corpodrones to swarm all of your media and make it unusable, similarly to Coco's chink spam, and for that company to say "He's lying, don't listen to him, everyone should stop associating with him." On top of all that potentially get sued by the corpo for breaking NDA. Would you do it? I certainly wouldn't in his shoes, it's like he said, not worth it.

If I was going to remark how bad things were every time I was asked in a non too subtle way, yeah. I would do it. So listening back to Gura’s announcement, what makes her obviously tear up isn’t disagreement or direction, it’s talking about how happy she was about the fact people waited for her when life got too much.

I’d posit that she’s finally decided she can’t keep doing that, even if the company and fans are more than happy to let her.

The vtuber sphere works inverse of reality. The second most viable career path, after Hololive, is going indie. Doubly so if your debut has a lot of eyes on it from previous drama or "drama". Yeah anyone listening to Gura knew the health issues combined with workload and fame was going to make her quit. Everyone is just surprised she held out till 2025 when the issues started in 23. But then you think a bit and realise that contracts and graduation queue would explain why now.

Definitely not Aqua. Even as Sakuna she seems to just keep to her area & seemingly her fans as Aqua have transferred over.

Funny thing, she hasn't even talked about Cover that much besides saying that yeah she left, but really she leaves happy anyways since she still has her fans. Overall, if Gura DOES come back as Senzawa, she will probably see a good portion of her fans back while you get the Britanny Venti types going after her still.

The punishment in vtubers case is that corpo or indie the business is highly nepotistic and incestuous not only amongst talent but these people share artists, animators, music producers, editors etc. so it's important to remain amicable for networking purposes and to not fuck things up for people that might still be in the corpo you left.

Pretty much all the Talents have said at some point Cover does not force them to do anything if they don’t want. But how long can you do that before feeling guilty?

They wouldn’t even need to bring up the others, the others could have been fine and understanding. But there is no way she doesn’t watch other talents, we know she does privately. Seeing everyone else work hard while you sit happy reading LoTR would get to any girl.

Then you get to the fans that keep waiting and waiting and missing you or the people that are saying your horrible or graduating or who knows what else.

Eventually pressure becomes too much.

Hopefully if she chooses to go back to indie most of that pressure will come off and she can keep doing her own thing on her own time.

If nothing else pressure to stream and work constantly will be gone and she will likely be able to stream more things that make her relax.
