I don't use this site, reddit, soyjak, etc, but I don't hate them or want them taken down or their posters miserable. 8chan Moe seems to have the most refugees based off of raw numbers. A few went to 7chan but if the Sharty is first place, then Moe is second

How likely is a balkanization of the site if/when it does come back? Like /pol/ and /lgbt/ get their own containment domains (sorta how the 4chan/4channel thing worked but on a greater scale) and the hobby boards also get a site.

The reality of this is that the website staff is so lazy they’ll keep the popular boards up while nixxing your niche hobbyist board. /pw/ /vg/ /ck/ the fiefdoms with the most jannies will stay.

It's pretty hilarious given how easy it is to find the actual leaked info how many people are still parroting the "there were a bunch of .gov emails" and "israel was the top posting country" misinfo across the web, and even here. And we've known for years that 4chan works with the feds in some capacity, how else would they have stayed up in the early days with how much CSM was posted there? This thread, since the hack, is flooded, hard to parse. It's like a couple hundred pages of people being MATI about 4chan and its moderation, and maybe a few pages total of actual info from this hack. Here are some cliff notes / TL;DR

• The hacker was a sharty user, he had complete access to the workings of 4chan through global user priviliges but seems to have tipped his hand shitposting with hiro's capcode instead of doing something funnier or more destructive, then the site got kill switched
  • he claims to have gained access via a lack of security measures against uploading malicious code as a .pdf on boards where pdf uploads are allowed
  • he mentioned that he won't leak/doesn't have 4chan pass info
• 4chan's code was leaked and it is very predictably a mess and mostly very old, some people (retards) are surprised by this
• janitor, mod, and admin emails, usernames, hashed passwords, and last IPs were leaked
• screenshots of the mod and admin interface got posted
• /j/ got leaked, again, and archived
• it was confirmed that janitors have assigned boards, again
• stuff from the 4chan staff discord got leaked, again
• a couple of farmers and shartiers who claim former 4chan janitor status talked about how the system works, including that janitors don't ban people or have access to report info such as IPs, they send requests to a mod queue and delete stuff
• some plausible phonebooking of those who were retarded enough to use personal emails, but also a some schizo tier reaching
  • a few .edu emails were found
  • no .gov emails, this rumor comes from idiots seeing an ESLpost that says "gov names" and thinking it meant "gov emails" and the general internet public running with that
• some IPs were run through a tool that shows what torrents that IP is downloading, but some of the IPs that this was done to are VPNs
• IPs showed that most of the janitors and mods seem to be in the US and Asia
• a tech journo wrote an article about the hack which was zero-info slop
• all of this got posted on sharty and farmers dutifully archived it here
• chicken jockey was the last thing posted before it went down
