If and when China decides to take Taiwan, what is to stop all of the talent from simply leaving the island ahead of time and taking their equipment with them or sabotaging it.
Nothing, and the tech literate Taiwanese would be like a new project paperclip
Maybe years back it was only about the landmass, but now Taiwan has a tech component that can simply be blown up on the way out to prevent China from taking it.
Right. Pyrrhic victory at best. The next step would be for our new doctrine island defense marine corps to deploy to all the tiny Philippine and Japanese archipelago islands with anti ship and anti aircraft missiles and pull a massive “hey we’re the houthis but we can hit shit” routine to contain China in the fallback perimeter

China is in ww2 Japan’s position, where to arrive at a stable stopping point they’d have to grab everything up to Hawaii

- I don't believe he's that stupid he can't see what's going on.
Louis Rossman had an entire rant where he basically explained he was pissed that people were taking advantage of Steven's stupidty, literally comparing him to a hot girl going "wow i can't believe so many guys are being so nice and welcoming"
As much as I appreciate Vance's way with words and attempt to explain/provide context to the deportation topic
i'm going to cry when he eventually gets killed, he's amazing when it comes to speaking on issues, the way he just deals with these journos, he's like if a Trump or Miller type was raised to be a Rhodes Scholar type glowie,

I’ve mentioned a couple times that the marine corps is changing its composition and doctrine in general. Specifically, the complete divestment of tank battalions, which would be impractical to move between pacific islands

Here’s where that’s from, Force Design 2030

The document came out in 2020, so it’s not news, but it’s relevant to claims I’ve been making

China won't accept anything that won't allow them to save face. But there are many ways to save face. They are taking a pounding right now. This cannot continue.

As for your second point, it's gotten larger if I recall in terms of their formations. But the fact remains that their last real war was against Vietnam. And they lost. I think they could win in a extended war against Taiwan, but holy fuck they would take enormous losses. The Taiwan strait would be a graveyard of warships with how many anti ship missiles Taiwan has stockpiled.
My grandfather fought in the Korean War. And I’ve known several veterans. Most Americans aren’t aware or even think about the Korean War, it usually gets skipped in history class and the next topic is usually Vietnam. It’s a bigger deal for Korea and China because of the casualties inflicted. For Americans it’s a footnote.
China would hit Taiwan with everything. EVERYTHING. Why do you think they have been building so many amphibious assault ships and landing craft. They would launch a non stop air and sea campaign while deploying as many land troops as possible. Now Taiwan's defenses are beefy. China would lose a lot, and that's assuming nobody intervenes in the meantime. It would be Normandy on crack.
I think their main issue is that many Asian countries don’t plan around taking a L. So once things start to go awry they tank fast. That being said “life is cheap in the orient.” And I would never underestimate China’s indifference to their grunts and the suffering of their average people. They won’t care how many of their elderly will be left destitute without their sons. They don’t care. Which is a terrible and disastrous combination tbh.

Korea was a big "win" in Chinese culture, even though it ended in a stalemate and many chinks dead. They fought back against the Capitalists and shit.

China would send millions into the grinder without question. That said, there would be consequences. The risk of revolution would be high if victory wasn't achieved.

This is a bit old, so apologies if I missed it.
DJT is going to pay illegals to fuck off.

As long as we're keeping new ones from coming in and the fuck off fee is less than what it costs to round them up and give them a hearing, this is a brilliant idea.
It's probably a lot cheaper to pay an econo class plane ticket than to get an army plane with ICE and US Marshals on it.

The principle sucks, but the practicality makes it tolerable.

Every one that takes the buyout is a potential aclu lawsuit averted
