My grandfather fought in the Korean War. And I’ve known several veterans. Most Americans aren’t aware or even think about the Korean War, it usually gets skipped in history class and the next topic is usually Vietnam. It’s a bigger deal for Korea and China because of the casualties inflicted. For Americans it’s a footnote.
I think their main issue is that many Asian countries don’t plan around taking a L. So once things start to go awry they tank fast. That being said “life is cheap in the orient.” And I would never underestimate China’s indifference to their grunts and the suffering of their average people.
