A 16-year-old track athlete was killed during a championship meet Wednesday morning in Texas by a member of another team, officials said.

Frisco Police confirmed the student-athlete died "despite lifesaving measures." The suspect, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, has been charged with first-degree murder.

A student from Frisco Memorial was the victim, according to local reports. Frisco Memorial Principal Brook Fesco wrote in an email obtained by Fox News Digital that Austin Metcalf, a junior at the school, had died Wednesday.

The incident occurred at about 10 a.m. at Kuykendall Stadium at the University Interscholasic League's District 11-5A championship meet. Anthony attends Frisco Centennial, roughly 7 miles away from Frisco Memorial.

According to the Frisco Independent School District, the meet was suspended shortly after the incident. The ISD added that the stadium "was immediately secured, and students were released and sent back to their home campus on FISD buses with expediency."

In her email, Fesco said the school "will acknowledge Austin’s death during 2nd period and will offer support throughout the day," adding counselors would be available.

"As a parent, your guidance and support will be important in helping your child process grief. Talking about this together, face-to-face, will give you a chance to discuss how your family understands and copes with loss. You may also want to discuss with your child how to be a supportive friend to classmates," Fesco wrote. "This loss might remind your student of past losses as well. The most important thing you can do is provide your child a chance to be heard and to express their feelings."

"The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain," the department said in a statement. "The department is collaborating with the Frisco Independent School District and will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult time."

Metcalf, who also played football at the school, participated in both the boys shot put and discus events earlier in the day, with threw distances of 39 feet, 9¾ inches and 86 feet, 4 inches, respectively.

Anthony ran the boys' 100-meter dash in 12.38 seconds and was scheduled to compete in the long jump.

Eight schools competed at the meet, according to MileSplit.

Oh God I hope so. This county is not likely to go easy on him. Remember this is Texas and Frisco is in DFW but it isn't Dallas. Collin County is where he's going to be tried, much like other counties that are rural or technically rural the DA is going to string him up.

It's unlikely he gets a sweetheart plea bargain. Despite the bond being lowered.
Even if he got offered a sweetheart plea deal (let's say 10 years for manslaughter, out in 6.5) would he take it? That type of sentence seems like a lifetime for a 17 year old, especially for one who is not good at long-term decision making. And now he's living it up in a mansion with a new car, would he really voluntarily agree to go back to prison? His family does not seem equipped to offer good life advice either, plus they are profiting from the ongoing attention to this case. If he takes a plea, the gravy train disappears.

He's going to try and run.
That would be the funniest shit to me. I don't know what would be more hilarious, him running and getting caught by the police or going out in a hail of gunfire. I'm leaning towards caught alive because I'd rather see him tried, found guilty and locked up for 99 years. Though, that gives the chance some faggot judge releases him eventually......

I really wish the death penalty was on the table.

I would say the odds he takes any plea are low just because of the fervor around Penny, Rittenhouse, and Zimmerman parallels here.

I agree, this hoodrat will try to ride it out because arrogance is their primary attribute. I'm sure he'll try to testify in his own defense as well and start spouting a lot of hood shit too. I hope they stream the trial.

The charge is first degree murder which DAs almost never bring unless the conviction is a slam dunk.

He's fucked and probably too stupid to know it.

Someone should correct me if wrong, but Texas doesn't seem to be a State that has "first degree murder" (to be clear) and instead characterizes the charges in a different way:

According to the source (a Texas law firm) this charge carries death penalty OR life without parole (obviously unless a deal is made):

So, is he definitely catching a Capital Murder charge?

Edit: bc phonefag

Odds he does something else stupid very soon?
My prediction is the nigglet going to kill one of his parent niggers over a dispute of the fund raised money. The question is before or after his prison time... Its depends how fast they gonna blow out half a million $... I give it a 50-50 odds the "before jail time" and 100% odds the "after jail time"...

It would be very funny tho, nigglet going out from prison after served X years in it to found an empty bank account an foreclosed mansion then turning to the prime niggers in his herd "Yo dis is was ME moo-neeey yooo.!!! BAM... BAM... BAM..!"

If he's 17 they can't give him life without parole so it will be a 5-99 years charge. Of which he must serve 1/3 before parole is possible.

I am not a gay ass lawyer but reads like so:
The capital felony and first degree felony statutes in texas mandate life with possibility of parole for a 17 year old on a capital offense and 5-99 years for a first degree felony.

There's really no way he doesn't do at minimum 30 years in the clink here.

The lesson to be learned is that white people should not associate with black people for safety of there family and self. Seems wrong to judge everyone based on one bad apple but fact that murderer is getting defended while the victim is smeared is, kind of proves they want to close rank and be judged by a bad apple. While if white kid this, be it a trailer trash or rich one, everyone tends to judge them harshly and that they deserved to be punished.

I hope it comes out, that he was clearly there to try and steal from another school tent and he was caught with no excuse

In every single photo I have seen, he looks like he’s trying to keep himself from laughing. Zero remorse.
I'm not saying this as a defense, but it's quite obvious this dude has no idea that what he did was wrong. He doesn't get why is he arrested, he doesn't think stabbing someone was a big deal. It's not just malice, it's the malice born out of pure stupidity.

Can't just blame him? For once, you can see just by looking at his vacant start that he's not smart at all. And second, he's been fed that anti white bs since he was born. And he's too dumb (as well as the rest of the family) to show some scepticism. He's never gonna rehabilitate, but people won't want to talk why though. Not one in the right had the balls to say "yeah, it's because he's black and blacks are stupid, and that stupidity leads to violence".

The Texas teen charged with murder for allegedly fatally stabbing a 17-year-old student in the bleachers at a high school track meet will not face the death penalty if he's convicted, according to the Collin County District Attorney.

Karmelo Anthony, 17, is accused of stabbing 11th grader Austin Metcalf at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco on April 2 during a track and field championship for multiple schools. He is charged with first-degree murder.

On Wed., April 10, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said Anthony will not face the death penalty if convicted. WFAA was the first to report Willis' assertion.

“The Supreme Court has said not only can you not seek the death penalty against someone who committed a crime when they’re 17, you can’t even get them life without parole,” Willis said, referring to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the 2005 Roper v. Simmons case.

“That would not be something we could do even if we wanted to.”

The Collin County District Attorney’s Office has not yet been given the case because police are still investigating, WFAA reports. Willis hopes the case is not moved to another county because he said he wants Collin County citizens to decide on the case.

At a court hearing on Monday, Anthony’s lawyers will ask the court to reduce his $1 million bond, Fox4 News reports.

“We know his lawyers would be asking for that, but we need to just let all that play out in the courtroom,” Willis told WFAA.

The deadly incident began when Metcalf asked Anthony to move from under a tent set up for Metcalf’s track team, witnesses told police, according to a probable cause affidavit previously obtained by PEOPLE.

Anthony responded by reaching into his backpack and allegedly saying, "Touch me and see what happens,” a witness said, according to the affidavit.

The witness said Metcalf touched Anthony, who allegedly responded by daring Metcalf to punch him.

When Metcalf grabbed Anthony to try to move him, Anthony allegedly pulled out a knife, stabbed Metcalf in the chest and then ran away, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit claims that Anthony admitted that he stabbed Metcalf to a responding police officer.

“He put his hands on me,” Anthony allegedly said, before he told the officers, “I did it.”

Anthony asked the officers, "Is he going to be okay?” and then if his alleged actions constituted self-defense.

Anthony’s family has been receiving death threats since his arrest, WFAA reports.

Anthony’s supporters started a fundraiser on GiveSendGo to help with his legal fees, which has raised nearly $300,000, Fox 4 News reports.

Anthony’s family wrote on the page, "The narrative being spread is false, unjust, and harmful. As a family of faith, we are deeply grateful for all of your support during this trying period. Your prayers and assistance mean more to us now more than ever."

A GoFundMe started by Metcalf’s father, meanwhile, has raised over $316,000.

“He was a bright young man with a great future ahead of him,” his father, Jeff Metcalf, wrote in the GoFundMe. “He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable.

“Voted team MVP this past season and carried a 4.0 GPA. He was looking forward to taking his game to the next level. His commitment, dedication, leadership, and sheer grit made him rise to the level of success that he desired.”

Anthony remains held in the Collin County jail.

His lawyers did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

SENT HOME : Family of ‘killer’ Karmelo Anthony to buy new house & security with donated $430k as he’s freed in Austin Metcalf murder

THE family of the teen accused of stabbing a student athlete to death at a track meet plans to shell out on a new home and security to protect the alleged murderer after he was released from jail.

Karmelo Anthony walked out of jail silently surrounded by his family on Monday, who posted his $250,000 bond after a judge agreed to lower it from $1 million.

Anthony is charged with fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf in the stands at a track meet on April 2.
He is now on house arrest, where he'll be required to wear an ankle monitor and stay inside his parents' home.
Over $420,000 has been donated to Anthony's family in an online fundraiser for the alleged killer after he reportedly faced racist threats following Metcalf's murder.
During the judge's ruling on Monday, prosecutors asked Anthony's dad why he couldn't use the donated money to pay the original bond to release his son from jail.
Andrew Anthony responded that the money was going to be used for his son's legal defense.
He also said the cash would be used for security to protect Anthony after he reportedly received racist threats since the stabbing.
Andrew also said the family plans to move into a new house for extra safety.
Defense attorneys insisted the money raised online "is not a bond fund" and that the family needs the funds to get by because Antony's dad is currently on leave from his job.
"This family needs to be able to survive," defense attorney Mike Howard said, according to Fox affiliate KDFW.
"There’s been a tremendous amount of pressure. I think at this point, living in a gated community, given everything, the safety of their younger children is very warranted.
"Security details and criminal defense are not cheap."
Meghan Metcalf, Austin's mom, put her head down and cried when the judge ruled to reduce Anthony's bond on Monday.
Anthony's lawyers originally asked prosecutors to reduce his bond to $150,000, saying $1 million was too high because the teen had never been in trouble before.

'IN SELF-DEFENSE'

While prosecutors have charged Anthony with first-degree murder, the alleged killer is insisting he stabbed Metcalf in self-defense.
Anthony took out a knife and stabbed Metcalf in the chest during a fight in the stands of a stadium in Frisco, Texas, on April 2, cops said.

According to an arrest report, Anthony told a school official that Metcalf "put his hands on him."
When cops referred to Anthony as the alleged suspect, Anthony reportedly said, "I'm not alleged. I did it."
Witnesses said Anthony told Metcalf "touch me and see what happens" after Metcalf told him to leave his seat.
Anthony then reached into his bag and stabbed Metcalf, leaving him to die in his brother's arms.

LEAVING JAIL

While leaving jail in a gray suit on Monday, Anthony was stone-faced as he made a beeline for the car while ignoring reporters asking him how the killing could be considered self-defense.
After Monday's bond hearing, Howard told reporters outside the courtroom that Anthony acted to defend himself.
"Every Texan deserves the right to defend themselves when they reasonably fear for their life," Howard said.
"Self-defense is a protection that applies to each and every one of us. There are two sides to every story.
"Karmelo is a 17-year-old kid and an excellent student. He is the captain of his track team and the captain of his football team. This is a tragedy all the way around for both families," Howard said.

During the hearing, prosecutors argued the murder was not justified.
"For reasons unknown, the defendant brought a knife to a track meet for what probably could have been a fist fight at worst," Collin County First Assistant Bill Wirsky said on Monday.
Prosecutors also said Anthony was involved in another altercation in school on February 4.
As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser for Anthony's family has raised $429,857 of its goal of $500,000.
The fundraiser has sparked outrage online as people demand the donation page be taken down in respect of Metcalf's family.

I've always said that your two options are:
1. Niggers are human and deserve human rights, trials etc, and like humans must be held responsible for their actions with jail time or the death penalty.
or
2. They are stupid animals that can't control themselves when someone says 'nigger' and they react purely out of animal instinct, in which case they aren't people with the right to trial, etc, and should be summarily shot like a rabid dog.

It is a simple dichotomy, they either have agency/control or they don't.

Nice breakdown. I'm really REALLY hoping they've found a video of him telling one of his buddies "ayo Imma go to the Memorial tent and fuck up some wite boi". At that point, Murder 1 (or whatever TX calls it) is a slam dunk, and there will be no plea.

My prediction is the nigglet going to kill one of his parent niggers over a dispute of the fund raised money. The question is before or after his prison time... Please god, let karma deliver on this. Let his parents waste the massive pile of blood money they grifted in front of Karmelo while he's stuck at home. Let him figure this out, lose his mind and off one or both of them.

Massive W for both society and justice.

Kipling's "White Man's Burden" in a nutshell.

I am so tired of two-tiered social justice bullshit.

I watched most of the Asmongold video as well as some other outlets. It feels like someone's forcing another race war to cause a distraction from other issues. Reduced bail and house arrest? Whatever. Spent the money on other things? If you were stupid enough to donate that's your problem. Innocent until proven guilty of course, but short of a bonehead prosecutor or an OJ jury it's a safe bet that this kid's life is over.

The universe takes out its trash when it's ready.

You need to be loyal to your family.
That's not an excuse for the hordes of unrelated people rushing out to support Karmelo though. Pure evil.

Okay even if you have some deep seated sense of obligation towards your kid, surely you’d be locking them in their room and giving them only gruel, water, and a Bible. Not buying them a fucking Lexus
