What are you on about? Genie went from completely non-communicative to making coherent - if broken - sentences. They learned about certain aspects of her abuse from her first hand retellings.
What you are referring to is unstable scientists getting overly attached, and when her application to adopt Genie was denied she tried to nuke the entire project, and when that failed, she went to Genie's mother (who for some reason was still allowed to be her decision maker) and fed her misinformation and outright lies to tank the project. Furthermore, Genie did eventually hit a plateau, as we all do, and the governing body cut the funding. Genie was given back to her mother, who immediately surrendered her after 3 months citing she was not fit to parent. Genie was then placed in a foster home where she was abused horribly and immediately regressed.
Genie did, indeed, do it.

You need to stop talking yourself out of things before you've even tried. You are constantly going "I can't do X before Y". You need to start problem solving. You can't get there on your own? Make a plan. Can you bike there? Is there public transit? Can you bike to a bus stop and lock it nearby? Why can't you look into learning to drive? There are so many different things you can explore here. You need to stop telling yourself "I can't do this".
