He's fortunate it's not a version of shock probation like that used in Texas. 6 months confinement served on a 2y with the rest of the 2y suspended as long as you successfully complete 10y probation. The smart man takes the 2y gets paroled after 11-12 months with the remainder on parole. The courts don't want you to take that though, they want you locked into the probation money maker mill as long as possible.
