From a technical perspective, this is very impressive. And from an ethical one it's even better as the data is supposedly trained from previous works at whatever anime company this is from. Obviously there's a couple of hiccups and strange jitters that comes with typical AI image gens, but as it is this is the most impressive demonstration of AI use in animating I've seen yet. Of course like with any creative works that breaks out using new tech, this will probably only be remembered as a historical novelty rather than anything more substantial because this just looks like another moeslop anime and not something more ambitious or unique in storytelling like Akria or Toy Story. But that's okay because every "first-time", "baby steps" into new tech isn’t gonna be a strike out with the masses. Tin Toy was released back in 1988, 7 year before Toy Story, was one of Pixar's first short films utilizing CGI as a way of storytelling, yet you'd be hardpressed to find anyone who really cares about it outside of interesting film trivia (not to mention the visuals not aging the best especially the baby model).
That's what I'm guessing this anime will be: a proof-of-concept demo of what AI can be used for that shows you can make interesting visual storytelling while not having to use so much human labor previously. Very rough, but very promising for what future animators will look forward to like how Pixar employees looked forward to the advancing tech of 3D.

Not gonna lie, this actually looks cool. Some sort of surrealist horror exploration plotline is actually perfect for an experimental AI work, the uncanniness actually adds to the atmosphere. And also I'm just a sucker for shit like this, look how cool this is

And why are talented people forced to make kiddy shit? Because that's what the executives order, because they know that's what people are gonna watch. Fact of the matter is, something that Youtube video essays will never tell you is that the group of people that are into tik tok e-celebs, pedobait characters and generic moeshit are the silent majority. We people, that demand new, captivating experiences that stay with us for days after watching something - are nerds. We are the loud minority, that everybody hears, but nobody fucking listens to. People will keep on watching garbage and garbage will continue to remain to be more profitable than something serious or unique.
Oh I know, most normies hell most anime fans under 30 don't like AKIRA, they don't want a gritty story, they don't like body horror, they don't like that the characters look like actual japanese people instead of pink-haired underage girls (Otomo mentioned quite a few times how people asked him why he didn't make women look like fap bait in his works) and I could go on but my point was that what makes cool good anime hard to make is that its more expensive and in less demand than cheap mass produced moeshit, but AI levels the playfield, so if they want to showcase the possibilities of AI why not try to make something comparable to what was the highest point of "analog" anime instead of yet more crap? we're already flooded with crap.
die from heart attacks due to being severely overworked like Kentaro Miura
Berserk guy died from overwork? Wasn't it a congenital heart condition?
(not to mention the visuals not aging the best especially the baby model).
The baby looked like crap even when it premiered, IIRC from an interview they did to Ed Catmull he mentioned that because of that they centered toy story completely around the toys and kept the human character scenes to the minimum to avoid that.

I'm not saying this is good, or anything close to acceptable quality, but I'm surprised that they decided to invest in a production of what was originally a bunch of Tiktok shorts with only a few thousand followers. https://www.tiktok.com/@hinahimaa

None of these shorts were super viral to warrant it to be expanded into a longer format series. There must have been thousands of other candidates they could have adapted from significantly more popular AI assisted web-series, but it's a little confusing why they'd go with this.

It's the passive aggressive threats that annoy me. Those people have no problem taking concepts, code and style for their tranny games. But god forbid if it has graphics not approved by their gestapo.
Well, they are annoying fucking assholes who don't have anything to do all day but to whine that they are being "robbed" of the "right to produce content", even if it is distasteful pornography.

What happened to the wage worker and the everyday blue collar man? Well, not so funny anymore.

If we're being generous, they chose this specifically because along with being "hip" with the kids, AI is the "current and new" thing that's hitting the world so what better way of tapping into current events than using tiktok and AI for your show? (Along with it not being as "action packed" in a fantasy setting and instead opting for a more safe and mundane setting, probably to not push the AI into extreme cases where it can't handle intense scenes).

If we're more cynical, then this is a psyop to make people further detest AI and that this isn't the "future" by making it as cringe and unappealing as it can be, and that yes overworking the nips to the point of Seppuku is more ideal than letting a computer handle all the work.

Realistically it probably is out of touch old businessmen trying to appeal to the youths while experimenting with AI in order to diminish manual labor, nothing more nefarious beyond "we need more cost effective measures, so let's see if our servers can handle most of the work."

Ex Nintendo of America CEO posted AI art of himself onto Twitter - as you'd expect this has lead to immeasurable cope from Nintendo fans.

Funny, I just got done watching a video going over Reggie's time at Nintendo. Whatever happened to "having fun" like what Reggie was doing at his time as NoA's president? Playing around with AI is the kind of thing he would do, sorry he didn't drop $200 for a quick gag to post on Twitter.

New technology that will totally wreck the AI scrapers just dropped:

Also could someone who knows more about this than me explain why this would or wouldn't work
Basically, you make webscrapers mine Crypto for you as the cost of access rather than rely on captchas or robots.txt. This is supposed to stop websites from getting crawled and DDOS-ed by scrapers by making your website more expensive for them to frequently access millions of times per day, and earns you money if they do.

Asking a truly unbiased person - say, a person who somehow uses the least amount of internet as possible - would definitely say the eebullllll AI.

Microsoft made an AI playable Quake 2 demo. People are outraged. John Carmack (lead programmer on quake 2, among many achievements) responds saying how impressive it is.

You can play it on copilot labs

I love that the usual suspects are bitching about this expect a fully fledged game created by so AI in it's early stages? But people will excuse half baked games when developers slap an 'early access' sticker on it? The peak of irrationality.

Also, Carmack continued from there & gave even more nuance to his argument. Which made Quake Dad become even worse.

Obligatory:

I see it as no different to using a 3d modeling program & 3d printer to print out scale models that are easier to assemble for someone with impaired motor functions (doesn't solve the issue of painting the models but again, something is better than nothing). Or a program that you can use to make soundtracks/beats instead of having to play an instrument.
3D printing is not the same as creating images via text prompt, and I can say this from experience of working with some guys the last few years on and off that do 3d printing shit as a hobby. Unless you're printing something someone else already made, you need to make a model and get all the scaling right and then account for the materials and layer layout and shit. A lot of trial and error, but also a lot more control than using image generators for stuff.

NEVER H!T SEND ON THAT SOMEHOW

wealready have gh!bl! lord of the r!ngs though!

The gh!bl! f!lter p!cs do somet!mes look a b!t soulless but once aga!n th!s !s more of a "us!ng a f!lter" !nstead of "mak!ng a completely new !mage from a prompt" !n a lot of the sol!d look!ng cases. They also do not 100% capture the gh!bl! style but look "close enough" for !t to be REALLY funny.
