General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

People blame Cover going public as the reason for the graduations don't know anything about the sheer suffering that the girls had to gone through in 2022, a year in which the company was private. The graduation route for all 5 girls started in mid 2022, it's a miracle that they lasted until 2025.
I still say not surprising if you factor in covid and yearly contracts. They were always going to make it to 24 and then the Grad Queue would cover to now.

I really want to know fully what went on in 22 it sounds way rougher than anything current

A combination of factors that affected both JP and EN.

A - The hiring of absent and often incompetent management that didn't know how to address the girls' problems, didn't get them the permissions they needed, and often GHOSTED them. Kiara threatened resignation, IRyS demanded a new manager as soon as possible, etcetera
B - Amelia's termite problem, affected her health severely
C - Mori's self destruction continued from 2021 and it reached some of it's worst points, in some streams you could hear her slurry and half-drunk.
D - Sana graduating less than a year into her career due to health problems and the problems that came with it
E - The creation of HoloStars EN outraged the HoloStars JP genmanager (as he wasn't consulted on it) and to this day StarsJP wants nothing to do with StarsEN
F - Kronii's yab (her earnings went down by 50%)
G - Gura started to slowdown her output (you can see how she streams less and less since October 2022)
H - Mumei started developing her throat problems and went undetected for far too long.
J - No concerts for EN, HoloFES was in the middle of Rushia's termination so it was highly rushed and accidented,

Etcetera, etcetera. I find it funny how some people get mad that there are not enough daily streams right now in 2025 (with 5 or 6 streams per day not including events), when in 2022 you were lucky to have 1 or 2 streams per day.

Council had a rougher launch after the smash hit of EN1, to the point where some Niji talents snarked about how it was doing, it was barely a year after they had to kill off their CN branch, Omega was a bizzare bit/producer that seemingly fucked with Irys' output and general ESL-ness of her earlier lyrics/songs. Sana had to be in a hiatus right the fuck away and was pretty much non-existant throught the earlier tenure of Council, and arguably, it wasnt till they became Promise that they really actually made the branch right.

Not to mention that Niji had just launched the smash hit Male wave, while Cover launched a much less succesful but decently beloved EN holostars as a response. I think it was also a time where Kiara was dooming every couple streams about projects that fell through.

Ina used to have a mod that was pretty active in her chat called AO-chan. It was theorized that he and Omega were the same person based solely off the fact that AO are the initials for Alpha Omega. The schizo leap in logic turned out to be accurate somehow, as confirmed by Kiara in her most recent stream
Did she explain what the plan for Omega was exactly?

AO was Ina's manager at the start of everything, and there were some rumors that the two of them knew each other from their FF14 guild pre-Holo. JChad was Kiara and Mori's manager at the start, and Jenma was Ame and Guras. There were some issues with Kiara and Jchad early on so Jenma picked her up too and Jchad focused solely on Mori and her singing career. Honestly thinking on it more, it makes sense that the two Holos who were most interested in making music in Myth had the same manager at the start.
Edit: That's right, it was just the first mod-status for her chat that wasn't another talent. My bad.

It honestly sounds like the first two generations were held together by most weebs being in lockdown thanks to the virus along with hope, tape, and dreams.

There was also the China incident that was going on so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that things sort of fell apart after a while.

I’m not super familiar with Mori lore. Is she an alcoholic?
On her first years she was incredibly anxious when streaming and she had to drink before stream to calm her nerves, which sometimes led to incidents.

The Mori-Coco collab is infamous because Mori is genuinely, completely, DRUNK. Easily one of Hololive's worst streams of all time.

She stopped drinking when Advent debuted and she took them under her wing.

As someone who has had Mori as the primary holomem I've watched since her debut.

The talk of her drinking was generally overstated, while she did have a drink from time to time, and was pretty much the only EN member that did so. She was never in a position of "she had to drink before stream to calm her nerves"

This seems to be a twisting of the fact that she at one point said she would have a drink before live performances to calm her nerves, which she's talked about with like Suisei and the like (and I sure hope folks don't think her having a single drink is enough to get her drunk)

The Mori Coco collab is infamous because Mori was fucking awkward and stiff during the whole thing, in the same way that Moona's first collab with Coco was. I don't remember anyone even back at that time saying she was drunk during the stream (although it likely was said on 4chan if anywhere, which kinda checks out with some of the join dates I'm seeing in this convo lol)

She has for the most part quit drinking now yes but it's never been connected to Advent, Not sure again where that narrative is coming into the picture but likely stemming from again the 4chan narrative that Advent magically "fixed" everything they disliked about Mori.

She was just the girl that drank among EN, and that did have some repercussions (Leangate was the worst of which) But it was always also blown way out of proportion by retards on /vt/ who seem to treat any girl consuming alcohol like some mark of impurity (they also flip out any time Kronii mentions having drinks with Mori, or insist that Kronii is blitzed out of her mind on weed constantly nowadays)

The purity shitpostes from /vt/ would wither and melt if they knew the kind of shit Akirose used to get up to while drunk on stream (not even counting the time she actually just passed out drunk and had to have a manager cut her stream) but the people formulating those anti-narratives don't really watch streams, let alone JP. 1744844616283.webp

Dont forget the Gura AirBnB incident where /vt/ was making fanfictions about Mori getting Gura uncomfortable after an offcollab

Funnily enough, AirBnB banned parties like a week or so after that incident, lmao

I've heard about that incident but I wasn't on it when it happened, what was the AirBNB incident?

The Air BnB incident was wild in a couple ways because yeah at the surface level that was a crummy situation they ended up in with Mori's sister crashing the place t hey were saying and throwing a party, but one that would have passed without incident and just been a "well that was weird and kind of uncomfortable" story down the line.

But the "Pink woman bad" posters went nuts with it, not only in the fanfics they wrote about how "Mori got gura raped at a party" but also by subsequently doxxing the location through Mori's sister's Instagram and harassing the owners of the place leading to Gura and Mori having to flee the place and find somewhere else to stay because having the location published to ravenous antis ACTUALLY made it unsafe to stay there (AKA the shit stirrers literally caused the unsafe situation they were pretending to be so upset about).

To this day some shitposters pretend like that event was the reason Gura stopped streaming regularly saying Mori traumatized her with the event.

the short version as also touched on above. HoloMyth meetup in NA, Gura and Calli were staying together at an AirBnB, Calli's family was also in the area and her younger sister asked if she and her bf could stay at the house Calli was renting. Calli said okay, When Calli and Gura arrived they found out Calli's sister had invited other people to the house to have a house party, Gura and Calli retreated to their rooms to get away from the noise, 4chan lost it's shit with the narratives pushed that I described above. it was a shit move by her sister, but nothing that serious and the two girls just went to their rooms and went to bed. Till Schizos escalated the situation.
