General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I've heard about that incident but I wasn't on it when it happened, what was the AirBNB incident?
I forgot what were the exact circumstances, but Gura ended up in an AirBnB with Mori, i think after an offcollab. At the time, some relative of Mori (sister i think?) Was hosting a party at the same AirBnB. Mori held a stream in the closet to avoid being disturbed, mentioned the fact and that Gura was sleeping upstairs, and /vt/ went apeshit

Mori’s sister had the code. Mori was not expecting her sister to bring friends or through party. When mentioned the antis went nits and caused them to move.

It made me realise that Gura’s child like Avatar really does make people think Gura herself is a child.

How dare Mori endanger and make a child uncomfortable.

But the "Pink woman bad" posters went nuts with it, not only in the fanfics they wrote about how "Mori got gura raped at a party" but also by subsequently doxxing the location through Mori's sister's Instagram and harassing the owners of the place leading to Gura and Mori having to flee the place and find somewhere else to stay because having the location published to ravenous antis ACTUALLY made it unsafe to stay there (AKA the shit stirrers literally caused the unsafe situation they were pretending to be so upset about).
I see now, an uncomfortable happening turned into a serious incident by product of mass hysteria. Early Myth had to deal with a ton of bullshit (Kiara's stalker, Mori's different incidents, Ina's VISA, Amelia's termites) and I'm glad that most of it was resolved.

I think it's a good example on the resilience of the 5. Another group would have left on the spot at the minimal sign of incidents like those.

This phenomenon is pretty common I find with a lot of folks, I remember back when shit first started going wrong for Rushia and some folks reaction around the sphere was "oh god the poor girl she doesn't know how to handle this situation why is everyone so mean to her she's just a soft hearted young girl"

And I was just sitting wondering whether or not folks remember that most of these girls are in their late 20s to 30s, that they're fully formed adults (even if menhera ones) not teenagers like their character age.

I think another thing to note about the Airbnb thing was that Mori made some comment during a stream in the Airbnb that she didn't know where Gura was and said something along the lines of "Maybe she's out partying.", which is what I think really started the ball rolling on the wave of unjustified shit thrown at Mori.

Na Sera formerly of the now defunct Nijisanji KR now in the main Nijisanji branch has not been streaming for a couple of weeks. They've now revealed one of the reasons for their absence has been them being involved in some court battle X A

I don't subscribe to the dogs because after 5-10 minutes of them alone, I've had enough. They're better in collabs and small clip doses.

It's too bad that they stayed so dedicated to being in-character as FWMC. I bet slowly turning the baby voices and BAUBAU down over the course of 18 or so months would've let them both keep their core autist fanbase, and made it easier to bring new fans in.

Autistic twins with pleasant normal voices, who have regularly demonstrated a sly sense of humor, and are fans of pro wrestling, old anime, and old video games, and have done quality control on porn games would probably make for a pretty entertaining duo if they were *ahem* let off the leash a little.
Ironically, this is why they are so popular in Japan. They are insanely dedicated, having had the same haircuts and color palette's for over a decade and view their characters as extensions of themselves. They have no leash, feel free to look up Ally and Sally, they are doing pretty much exactly what they want and won't change. Complaining about their content is just saying you don't like them, that's OK.

Not everyone likes Luna. I image some JP viewers cringe when Miko or others use their name as their pronoun (Miko wa vs. watashi wa) as it's basically only small children who do that. Hololive is a cringey company but it's also fun and positive so people are drawn in. For the EN sphere there is little to no chance it becomes mainstream. Families sit down together and watch Miko. No one was going to watch Gura in the same way.

whats funny is two talents have hinted at real issues within cover but they still hold back their tongue.
its ex holostar talents so it could just be the stars side being awful.
I think why we never hear anything from ex hololive talents is they hire the type that would not start drama. Many talents have talked about how cover does big background checks on people to make sure they wont start shit with other talents or the corpo its self. Also cover most likely has contracts that aren't jokes like niji and many other smaller corpos.
Lando and Orc? Two well adjusted individuals...

Kronii, Towa, Calli, Suisei, Kson, Kiara and more have commented about fighting with the company for various reasons. The Altare clip in your replies is one reason - lack of timely support. Perms, copyright issues, stream ideas, model restrictions and more. Some talents flow around those issues, some take matters into their own hands and some work through them with brute force. And some leave instead. Also, yeah it's a fun company because they scout people who are low drama.

Personally, I am more confused about Mumei and Gura not taking the affiliate route.

So listening to Kiara talk aind ‘Gura has not been herself for awhile, it was probably best for her’

Makes it rather clear it was illness and stress induced burnout to me.

For as easy a job as people see streaming, even if it is only streaming, the streamer I find rarely actually relaxes.

And with Holo there is way more on top.

Sure Holo would let her do nothing forever, but is that really actually relaxing or resting? Is she in a position where she can honestly shut everything out and not worry?

Mumei is super sick, she has gone to ton of doctors and none has a way to fix her throat. She took a lot of break last year and she still sounds very sick when she stream once every 2 month. Even now, she has to move streams around because she is not felling that great to stream. Before her graduation announcement, She has talk about people should stop paying for her membership when she couldn’t delivered so it clear that she feel guilty about not being able to stream or do more project.

I think Gura feel the same since she has talk about streaming anxiety and her being sick both mentally and physically, another factor is that Gura doesn’t enjoy being Gura because how huge her number is compared to the other girls and she knows she is important to the EN branch so those added to the anxiety.

if they can avoid anymore graduations its probably not going to happen soon, Advent and Justice are strong enough with viewership to carry EN if necessary
If they stick with four channel groups like Advent and Justice, that would fill the voids of the recent EN graduations. I bet we are getting another en group this summer.

They want to quit. They both seemed really unhappy with the job sometimes, and they're both sick all the time.
Being ill is not nice when you have a demanding and draining job and it’s clear they think it best if they clean break.

Working yourself to death can permanently mess with you.

The only visible work that Ame has done since she left was some announcements at Holofes. I know they are both sick, but it seems that they left because of expectations for streaming and such. I understand JP's not taking this route as they have complexions about their persona's, some even deleting their entire channels/twitter/etc. after graduating. Cover has stated that IP is important going forward and in the EN sphere getting paid royalties is pretty common and accepted. So I would think EN would be more likely to take that route.

Fauna seemed angry at Cover and wanted a complete break so it makes since she did not want to work with them again. Mumei and Gura seemed sad to leave. Gura and Mumei are just leaving what looks like free money on the table as the work appears minuscule. Cover for sure wants them to stay, they would for sure have utilized them like the Ame mascot as Holofes. For Gura, she does a Dodgers voice line and gets paid. For Mumei, she does a Holotori voice line and get paid. Maybe my idea of what it is to be an affliate is skewed but if it's not then their decissions are confusing. More so because they are sick as many vtubers are making money as vtubers because they can't otherwise (Ironmouse).

It's all speculation other then Cover specifically talking about the importance of IP and the current "tea parties" that aim to retain talent.

To be fair ironmouse's alleged condition doesnt actually seem to interfere with her streaming as much as before now, Mumei and Chloe specifically had throat issues that would've taken time to heal
Ironmouse also doesnt really go all out, to the point where she gets paid for sleeping on stream and idly doing reactslop with her chat
