Due to recent events, my usual reservation to talk about Vidya is gone, so I figured why not try to build something similar here.

Been main lining Chaosclick these last few weeks and unfortunately got kinda good at it, I'll show you my knife zealot later.

What are you playan today, Kiwianon?

Want to start Phasmophobia again but I really don't want to mic with randoms. At least Outlast Trials has a good ping system. Been playing that and Payday 2 lately.

"It Takes Two" is some of the most fun you can have in vidya with a friend. Highly recommend to grab a good rl buddy and go through it together.
Darktide has been surprisingly pleasant community wise, especially the Ogryn players. I promise them extra rations in chat and they proceed to cleave through heretic hordes with a level of zeal that would make the emperor proud.

I love tide games even if they're made by some of the biggest mouth breathers on the wrong side of the Atlantic. Not playing much vidya at all right now tho.

Where does Vermintide 2 or Darktide rank in comparison to Space Marine 2 as a co-op game, and which of the two should I play(if either)?
I like Space Marine 2 but it is severely lacking in terms of maps, the weapons feel a bit weak and unsatisfying(I top the ranged charts with a melta but it really feels like I'm blowing a fart in the face of mooks, ditto on bolters) to use and I hate how little in the way of customization(perk or cosmetic, the fact that they're selling fucking colors and the cool looking armors/helmets pisses me off to no end) there exists in the game.

Also I played a single map of GTFO and I loved what I played, but unfortunately I think my co-op buddy wasn't too interested in it not being a standard horde shooter and instead being some weird really punishing stealth/detective hybrid so I don't think I'm ever going to see more of it.

Helldivers 2 is still amazing either with people you know or just Randoms'. Bugdivers still seem to be more high strung/more kick happy then botdrivers but still a really fun game. Never had to use a mic and the simple ping/marking system is good enough.

Vermintide 2 is pretty dead outside of sweats or modded servers so unless you have a group of friends you'd play with, the quality of your runs is going to vary a lot. There are a lot of maps. VT2 has imo some of the best first person melee gameplay out there. Darktide is still very much alive though. The game is probably in its best state both feature and meta wise. Its melee isn't quite as refined as VT2's but its gunplay and movement are superior. Compared to its state at launch, it's practically a different game.

While I haven't played SM2 since launch (and didn't like it enough to grind out better shit), I think Darktide is a better horde shooter, though doesn't fulfill quite the same power fantasy as SM2. That's just the difference between playing as a space marine vs not, unfortunately. A huge issue with DT early on is getting overwhelmed by variations of weapons, some of which feel great and others which are awful. The skill ceiling is high and the game becomes more fun the better you are. The community is comprised entirely of faggots but that's universal. Both Vermintide and Darktide have this issue where genuine shitters get filtered by the highest difficulty (VT2's cataclysm and Darktide's auric board) and instead pollute the penultimate difficulty lobbies. I don't think that really answered your question but both games are worth their sale prices.

Oh brother I already hate this tranny

Also enjoyed Unravel 2, though not as much.

Need more couch co-op that doesn't result in arguments about who fucked up and ruined everything.

Presumably anything by Joseph Faris(the fuck the oscars guy who directed It Takes Two) works for this.
There are also a couple of asymmetrical/escape room type co-op games like the We Were Here series and Operation Tango. I played them with my sister who is barely capable of controlling a mouse and keyboard or a controller but it was very playable and enjoyable.
I'm dumb and I didn't realize the "couch" part.
Destroy All Humans 2 and Ratchet Deadlocked were mainstays of my teenager co-op years with my brother. DAH2 has a remake I think was very well received(but no online co-op, splitscreen only).

Any suggestions for Switch games? Something other than 1st party offerings, since I'm already aware of stuff like Mario/Kirby, obviously.

Why would you get somebody who doesn't know anything about 40k? Troonberg will do it for free.
Why would you? I'd prefer someone who knows nothing about 40k but can effectively convey information about the game and interact with the community without saying profoundly retarded shit over some autist who knows a ton of useless 40k lore and has no idea how to do their job.
