U.K. Top Court Says Trans Women Do Not Meet Legal Definition of Women Under Equality Act

Britain’s Supreme Court was asked to rule on whether trans women can be defined as female under a British law that aims to protect against discrimination.

The Supreme Court in Britain ruled on Wednesday that trans women do not fall within the legal definition of women under the country’s equality legislation.

The deputy president of the court, Lord Hodge, said in a summary of the decision: “The unanimous decision of this court is that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological women and biological sex.”

However, he added: “We counsel against reading this judgment as a triumph of one or more groups in our society at the expense of another, it is not.” He said the ruling “does not cause disadvantage to trans people” because they have protections under anti-discrimination and equality laws.

The landmark judgment follows a yearslong legal battle over whether trans women can be regarded as female under the 2010 law, which aims to prevent discrimination on the basis of gender, sexuality, race and other protected characteristics.

The decision was highly anticipated because it could have potentially far-reaching consequences for how the law is applied to single sex spaces, equal pay claims and maternity policies as well as to some of the rights available to transgender people in Britain.

This actually sucks because it changes nothing and closes a loophole for insane DEI policies.
The ability to change your sex on the fly for administrative purposes is the best piece of legislation that has been pushed over the last few years.

Some amoeba brained takes starting to filter into this thread.

Whiskey and cigars are for men, cigarettes and wine are for women is, ironically, troon logic.
I swear, it is like no one in this thread has reading comprehension. Because by the end of my comment, I am agreeing that it could be a nice way to celebrate. And the context of my comment was replying to an idiot saying she should have ice juice and weed to celebrate.

If you don't believe cigars and whiskey/scotch are traditionally a more masculine thing to enjoy, then I don't know what to tell you except you're wrong.

Whatever honestly, just more people for me to ignore.

its pretty obvious that the people freaking out about this ruling didnt read the article at all

No, they read it fine.

Trannies do not want protection from discrimination as trannies, they want to be able to discriminate against women by occupying single-sex spaces. Trannies don't want to be thought of as trannies (who are men), they want to be lawfully defined as biological women.

Exactly.

I wonder if the UK Supreme Court is more familiar with tranny behavior than they let on, because the protection from discrimination they left in place is nothing to worry about.

* Trannies have protection from discrimination in hiring. So a tranny interviews for a job. Doesn’t get it. Sues for discrimination. If they manage to get discovery in their lawsuit, they have to pray that someone put transphobic stuff in writing. Most businesses are smart enough to say the rejection was due to “culture fit”. Lawsuit over.
* Trannies have protection from discrimination as a customer. A business kicks a tranny out because they’re sperging out and making a scene. They sue. Business produces the security camera footage of the sperging. Lawsuit dismissed.

These trannies literally have more protection rights than me! And they’re bitching about the fucking definition of sex! No one wants you in their space! Women in domestic abuse shelters shouldn’t be stuck with a freak of nature. We all know these men are going to touch them or their kids. God knows they flock to the women’s locker rooms to show everyone their said little dicks. They don’t even care if kids there or not. Everyone gets flashed just the same. Blame your parents for your chromosomes not the government.

you are on point
i feel like some of these people arent grateful for all of the protections, laws, and representation that they already have
they want more
they need more

I think at this point, a lot of people are. Many people who vociferously supported the Troon Agenda in 2016 are now quietly walking away after discovering that it was about pervy straight men, not harmless oppressed gay men.

The point is that she didn't say Hermione was black, but that it didn't matter who was cast as Hermione.
Well, Samuel L Jackson did such a good job in Snow White, he's going to be wonderful as Hermione Granger.

They wanted to rope him in for How To Train Your Dragon, but they had already hired a female at that point to play Astrid.

Most unfortunate.

As much as this is a W, let's not forget that JK didn't this because she's a Based Trad™ but because she really, really hates men
She went quiet on that about that a couple of years back and has made a few small mumbles about immigrant men in the last year. She's definitely not a fan of islam. Those rape gangs in particular intersect with her general "protect girls" campaigning. Rainbow me to death, but I think she's at the stage with immigration now where she was with troons shortly before she wrote her open letter. Not expecting her to go all wignat or anything, but I do think she's taking a more hostile stance to immigration in general. Whether she'd admit it is another matter.
Not sure why badadook is getting the downdoots, and it's also no surprise that a lot of TERFS or anti-trans would soften their positions on migration when right wingers are so firmly in the anti-troon camp (a natural ally). But TERF ideology is basically the female equivalent of we wuz kangz reparations.

and you didn't read the law. the troons are banned from all women's toilets and changing rooms, and women's hospital wards, girl's schools, etc. possibly women's professional sports too.

They should qualify for public disabled toilets access which are under lock and key then.

The way she celebrated gives me pick me vibes. Such manly things to do. Smoke a cigar and sip liquor. It's an amusing statement to make, but to me it looks like she is only appealing to the men with this. A glass of wine and a cigarette would have been just as nice in my opinion, but I don't know the lady. Maybe she does genuinely enjoy cigars and liquor. Expensive scotch is actually really good, so I guess I won't critique her too much. She probably buys the most expensive shit out there. I bet it is tasty.
She posted 'I love it when a plan comes together' with the cigar pic. It was a homage to Hannibal from The A-team. Every week, as the final battle ended, Peppard would light a cigar, survey his team's success and say, 'I love it when a plan comes together.' It's fitting because The A-team were fucking cool. And also good guys that were treated like criminals but still always won out in the end.

Lots of coping and seething on Instagram from handmaidens and "allies" like this post here.

The trans community and its movement are completely oblivious that the backlash from "TERFS" wouldn't have been so severe if the trans community just stopped turning a blind eye and listened instead of throwing hands and sending women like JK Rowling death and rape threats? How many more incidents of MTFs making females in intimate spaces like hospital wards and locker rooms uncomfortable, beating up women in sports, sexually assaulting women, etc. had to happen to the point where this ruling needed to be put in place?
