that's not necessarily a bad thing. it's painful for people who didn't already made the jump, but let's face it lot of people need that kick in the ass due to laziness and ignorance.
it's an hilarious repeat to 10 years ago when people first moved to 8chan and were blessed with thread IDs, sound videos and other comfort shit. after it went down, everything becoming more "no fun allowed", altchans getting smothered in the crib with cp, we're basically stagnated since then. now things have to move again. in which direction remains to be seen.

Come on. There is no FUCKING way it was anything but on purpose. They did it because 4chan has noticeably lost traffic over the last 5 years and virtually all of the threads on the top popular boards are subject to constant discord coordinated raids and samefagging.

the easiest fix would've been thread IDs and with timer so no easy ban-evading (changing IPs isn't an issue for most people unless they do it deliberately).
but like you said there's a reason they didn't do it and actually did the opposite. although I could also believe it broke and none of the retards in charge knew or bothered how to fix it.
literally no one can claim IDs won't improve threads.

When I started browsing /v/ in 2011, if someone made a bait thread it would be drowned in dubs posts and Piccolo dick, all using sage which still worked. While the majority of the threads weren't exactly high intellect, there was less successful bait than in modern 4chan. User self moderation like that always worked much better than jannying, because if you acted like a faggot you ONLY got people calling you a faggot and letting your thread sink. Jannies have done a lot to stomp out self moderating measures in all this time and the board quality has suffered a lot because of it. If you make some shitty ragebait with a Twitter screencap and you are guaranteed to get 300 replies, and only maybe being given a three day vacation, there's going to be a lot more trolls and bored fags trying to get attention.

The gacha and vtuber communities were super quick in reorganizing, I've seen people reach out to each other via in-game friend lists, archive ghostposting and the downdetector comments. The gacha board owner knows what he's doing, and most people seem happy that per-thread poster ids discourage shitposters.
