Maybe this speaks to the state of politics more than anything else, but I find it more undignified that a journalist I generally trust is having shouting matches online.

Is anyone online not doing some emotional, performative dance for validation?

Jesse has been crashing out for like six months because the sensible center coalition he thought he was participating in was destroyed when most thinkers defected to the right and started sucking Trump dick. He's gotten it into his head that he needs to be the guy to countersignal and drag discourse back to the middle, but he simply doesn't have enough pull. He'll hit rock bottom sooner or later and be back to normal (I hope!)

It's not so much validation for him I don't think. He's trying to use his platform to stop the pendulum from swinging past the middle, and he's getting upset that it isn't working.

I get how you feel. It's pretty embarrassing but also kind of funny. Personally I think if you hold any form of office you should be banned from social media. Have an official White House press release account that puts out general information and that's it.

They can't grift people if they're not 24/7 dancing clowns. The days of smartly dressed men reporting factual news with zero emotional editorialism is gone and it's never coming back.

He'll stop acting like the final judge of mankind and remember he's a journalist whose beat is trannies and internet bullshit, and that if he wants a new beat he needs to do the work to find new stories and get access to subjects. He's a pretty poor pundit and a pretty great journalist. He explained the tranny crisis so well because no one else competent gave enough of a shit/was brave enough to really look into it. Now that everyone sane agrees with him, he needs to find a new underappreciated crisis to investigate, and leave the political shit to people with a unique and well-developed perspective.

Jesse was on the Fifth Column podcast this week. Nothing particularly special aside from them kind of talking him down from his TDS a little bit.

On today's Blocked and Reported Katie describes DFEing her prior internet presence including getting things removed from the Internet Archive. She'll never have a thread now. :(
