General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

It's honestly a brilliant PR move that can only garner them a more positive reputation among those artists and their communities.
Phase could use more well rounded fan artists
Weird. I think the consensus here has been that she's obviously faking most of her persona for attention and doing some degenerate shit behind the scenes. I don't think anyone here would touch that with a 10ft pole, so I don't really understand why you thought the KF thread of all places would give two shits about the drama.
Never heard of the hole and im not downloading catbox pdfs because some lazy faggot didn't want to archive it.

A few of them I've seen on twitter do some interesting stuff. Plushies, coins, figures, etc...
So honestly I think if there's one thing out of it all its how impressive and industrious phase fans can be.

I just worry for fishman cause I feel the second that they're down and not able to throw money at Offkai they'll kick him. Commies are parasites and leeches the second you no longer provide them sustenance they'll throw you away and latch onto something else. I hope phase never has that happen.

I'd love for some cons that aren't in commie hell holes across the US though.

(Picked out the word just to reply; don't take it too seriously.)
I don't care about cartoon coommershit or GFE or lolishit at all, so I don't mind if girls do it or don't. I'd like Fallenshadow if her voice wasn't so annoying, I like Gura even though she's an ironic/"ironic" loli who plays into it, and I liked Rushia because her unlucky-girl-who's-totally-dependent-on-you character was uniquely funny (though I understood the "grift" there).
Early Vshojo each had their own thing. The ones I liked best were Nyanners (funny) and Silver (friendly). Kson's cool of course, and I really like Nagi (the one who shot her monitor) from their newer girls. But they've lost what I liked best, which was specific people.
Same as HoloEN, which without Fauna and Gura and Mumei seems kind of strange to me.
Others prefer the change.

I was thinking, with all these major graduations, there will come a day where many large indies will be Hololive graduates and they will constant parts of the collab market.
Cover will have to accept more direct collabs with former members or they will end up become very separated from the outside industry.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next WrestleTuber event includes a former hololive member, for example.

How did people find out it was Mint in the first place?
Twitter (as it was called back then) did its algorithm thing and started recommending Pomu's (as she was called back then) personal life account to everyone right around when she graduated. She played the "I don't know why you're all here but I'm just me, if you think I'm someone else you know you're mistaken" angle which we all understood - maintain the separation.
To expand on this a bit.
The tweet that was "algorithmed" was a tweet she did right after Pomu's graduation saying something like "I'm unemployed now"
She never tried to pretend she wasn't Mint/Pomu, she just says she doesn't want people threating her like Pomu/Mint in her private acc.
In fact, before she re-debuted as Mint, she did a few tweeter spaces streams in the personal acc. talking about life and shit, and like, it was obviously the same person.

Reactions: Can of Bread
I did not know they went that far. Wow.
they all basically do some flavor of erotic ASMR.

Noel as her PL Canan literally does webcam streams regularly of herself masturbating into an ASMR microphone. Aki and Choco to my knowledge have only done some one off things going full 18+ on DLsite that I could go dig up the codes for again to prove but I don't think that's actually necessary and I'm not exactly looking to come off like I'm unironically shilling porn here, just bringing it up for the sake of showing how little Cover cares about what their talents do with their off time.

I will however post this funny clip from one of Canan (Noel)'s streams where she accidentally called herself "danchou" (what she calls herself as Noel) and promptly raged out and smashed her keyboard.

And just because it's funny and I can't post one without the other, the only Kiara clip I'll ever share for entertainment purposes, and an absolute classic.

They'll become very seperated from the outside industry? you mean like they already have been for years? at the peak of the vtuber boom Cover already kept 99% of their collaborations in house, which has loosened a bit in recent years but for the longest time they just didn't really do much outside, and didn't really need to as proven by their growth and success. This was also compounded by the fact that outside collabs are just an additional hurdle for talents, needing approval to do so, so many of them just wouldn't try. It took literal years for Kiara ond Pomu to be able to collab because of autism on one side of the fence or the other. Only really HoloID or Holostars have generally seemed to have an easier time working outside of the company in collabs, and reasonably so with both of those markets being places where additional outreach was needed to pull in new viewers to the respective branches.

The meme of hololive being a "walled garden" on /vt/, while stupid in their use of it to bitch and moan about any outside collab that happens, exists for a reason, because in a lot of ways Hololive does operate like one.

(the tradeoff for that has been that I think someone like Froot just needs to be told to shut the fuck up fairly regularly)
That's not the only thing she needs to keep shut.
TBH If the next Offkai was like around the corner from me, I'd definitely go. Lotta merch you can only get at conventions. It's gonna be funny if one of these tards tries to get Pippa kicked out again because of her friendship with Kirsche. I don't think Fishman wants to throw more money at them.
Honestly, Offkai needs to hire someone who isn't a brain damaged Californian to do PR.

I feel like barring an extreme talent drain, Holo itself will forever be enough for collabs, with maybe one or two people pulling a Bae by having a token ex-indie/corpo friend like Miori

It seems like Fulgur was well liked at least

Also Gura's going over her graduation
e: ft multiple soft confirmations that she'll be back. Hopefully she takes enough of a break that the drama vultures lose interest and move on
e2: new MV produced by Cased Edwards of DMC fame

The only lacking aspects are you cant meet up with people and get drunk with / buy merch in person. Do you really need to spend several thousand dollars to do that?
Being honest, drinking with another vtuber fan at a con seems relatively boring, and spending thousands of dollars to spend hundreds more on merch seems asinine. If you were unveiling tech or some other stuff for streaming and vtubing, it'd make sense.

Also, imagine the smell.
If they don’t go to con they can’t fuck the crazy cosplayer cosplaying their Oshi.
Implying any of these schizoids get laid.

Offtopic, but are there any episodes you'd recommend starting with?
A little late but here are some that I really enjoy:

Thanksgiving 2018
I like to watch this one every year around Thanksgiving. This was back when he was living in Ukraine so it's interesting to see how much has changed since then. There is also an impromptu interview with a well known lolcow.

March 23, 2023
Here is where he talks about the Pikamee situation. Pretty good stream overall.

There is also his most recent stream where he talked pretty positively about us.

Shill posting:
Probably the most relevant commentary on recent events in the industry.

Kara was monetized and finally has a fan mascot design.

After much delay Armcha1r is weighing in on the small corpo meltdowns of 2024.

Gura's final project is a song with Casey Edwards. It'll be a music video animated by Mazumaro (who animated Myth Bad Ending)
Still teaser

It's live
I really liked the final project/song although I can see how it’s different from traditional Hololive/Idol music. I would like to see her make more of this kind of music if she returns in the future.
