WLP himself always considered Diaries to be fiction rather than blueprint. Didn't stop a bunch of people from trying to kickstart the race war.
WLP himself received money from the Order that committed bankrobberies.

It's more apt to call it a facelift or expansion. "Rework" as a word has been completely ruined by TNO at this point where it's come to practically mean "delete everything and make it worse in 5-10 years".
