Bots and glowies have practically destroyed almost all corners of internet discussion and discourse. The worst part is that its more or less too late to course correct since corporations have homogenized everything about it.

At that level it's almost impossible to know who is running who. Is MI6 running the CIA? Is the CIA running MI6? Is Mossad running them both? We don't know, and it's impossible to figure it out. Also, if you're someone who is capable of figuring that type of shit out, they'd probably just kill you.

yeah they really didn't signify anything except hiding an actual country. however sincere someone might be about the symbolism of a memeflag, you can't use one without depriving other anons of customary metadata, which totally routinely contributes to judgment of motives in a given thread. all such hints are merely circumstantial evidence, yes, but it's not for some unseen meddler to decide which statistics are unnecessary after noticers learn to notice them

Anyway, I used to be an avid user of the 'chan before it got hacked, and now that it seems like it won't be back anytime soon, I figured I should finally migrate to the 'farms. My boards of choice were /pol/, /int/, /v/, rarely a couple others.

My honest opinion about the 'chan situation? Japanese moot got too cocky and didn't invest in a better security, the jannies were too dumb and used their real E-Mails. Janny trannies deserve everything that's coming to them.

Welcome in. Gookmoot like most japs is shit with technology, and left the website untouched for too long to a point it's held together by rotting glue. He didn't give much of a shit either which allowed janitors to take over or sleep.

So since 4chan is dead, and I did read the post in detail about how long it will take to recover, is it the best decision (though by no means less effort) to just shut down the whole site and rewrite it from scratch with up-to-date PHP, FreeBSD etc?

Oh, and while a man can dream, I would love to see "new 4chan"'s code open source. Yeah, open source 4chan clones exist (vichan, tinyib), yeah, the source code has been leaked, but I would love to actually have a new version of 4chan which is truly open source.

Also, I like the dancing Miku animation. Wish I could save it but whatever. And of course Hiro probably doesn't give two shits, so I doubt a new version of 4chan (or a rewritten version) will ever happen.
