Let's Sperg Mods to De-wokify Woke Games - It's up to the player to fix everything

Introduction​

With the mass influx of developers, both AAA and indie, shoving in so-called "woke" concepts of race-washing originally white figures, "feminist" tropes, fanfiction writing, and LGBTQ themes into video games, it's very easy to be cynical and apathetic of the state of the industry. As a result, players soon took it upon themselves the make mods that take these stuff out to improve not only their experiences, but the community's.

Unfortunately, these mods could never be put out in the public due to the censorious nature of the duopoly of modding websites NexusMods and ModDB in favor of the topics above, which can discourage players to continue modding. Sure, there are sites to dump such "offensive" mods such as BasedMods, but its extremely niche appeal and non-engagement leads to a lack of updates and commitment to these mods.

This is where the RPG-oriented forum RPGHQ and its modding community ModHQ come in.

As exiles of the forum RPGCodex, the users of RPGHQ managed to broaden their appeal due to retaining discussion of multiple RPGs of all genres from game reviews to play-by-post threads. The forumcan best be described as a smaller version of Kiwi Farms, but instead of lolcows, it's role-playing games (RPG). However, that's not the main interest for me at least.

What I am interested in RPGHQ is their extremely ambitious, dedicated, and tightly-knit modding community (of both moids and femoids). The folks there have a desire to mod to create better gaming experiences and thus found themselves de-wokifying video games, even those that are not RPGs. Modders of RPGHQ host their content on RPGHQ's dedicated modding site MODHQ, which links to certain mod threads on RPGHQ that includes download links, with information on most recent update and what type of content is covered on their OPs. Modders of RPGHQ often collaborate and specialize their roles, resulting in these mods becoming bigger in scope.

In addition, if a mod is abandoned by its author, other modders of the community take up the role to maintain these mods to keep them updated. For example, following his ban from ModDB, American Krogan abandoned his Fallout 4 mod "Grounded Commonwealth." RPGHQ owner rusty_shackleford then got Krogan's permission to re-upload the mod on his site and RPGHQ modders has since maintained the mod to a playable state.

Such advantages can only be seen in Nexus and ModDB and not Based Mods, so it's pleasant to see an active non-woke modding community working together.

As a result, I am compiling a list of high-quality mods that RPGHQ has removed modern-day messaging in video games that are recently released. The list is two sections down. Video games that will be modded in this list has overlap with games listed in @Activelo 's KF Guide to Woke Games and games in the "Are there Any Woke Properties that you Unironically Enjoy" thread.

Why this thread?​

The thread is intended to be more optimism-oriented than other threads in the Games sub-forum so that users' gaming experiences have a chance to be improved in a world where it's so easy to be cynical about gaming. The purpose of the thread is to provide a central source of information of the Kiwi Farms for users who want to patch "woke" stuff out of their games through high quality and recently-updated mods that just throwaways that you see in BasedMods.

The modding community of RPGHQ, of which they dedicated their full autism in creating the mods to enjoy and tolerate the most modern video games to play. With me having done my first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 modded to remove all the "woke" content away, I really enjoyed the game and pretty much tolerated and liked all my companions (except Karlach constantly saying the word fuck a lot in the most Reddit-esque manner), of which I heard their vanilla sides were more insufferable. Now, I want to share how you can have the same experience.

Help find, support, and curate better mods on Nexus using the "Content Curator and UI Revert" Userscript​

If you are looking for mods that is basically just extra content for the game, Nexus Mods, even with its censorious nature has a plethora of them, in the tens of millions. However, due to the enforced toxic positivity and author-set permission policies, Nexus users are unable to know if the mod is not just working but also if its author is worth engaging in case bugs popped up.

RPGHQ modder loregamer has created a userscript that lets you know if the mods are

• broken
• whether or not an author is worth engaging with
• if the mod author was stingy with their permission policy
• Viable alternatives to the mods you are visiting
• etc.

In addition, the userscript allows you to expand the database of faulty mods by reporting the mod with the report then reviewed by loregamer to determine if the mod is added to the database. Instructions are in the link above.

I will dedicate the second half of the OP to spotlight Baldur's Gate 3 and the lengths RPGHQ went to fix the game's primary flaws. In this spotlight, I provided the tools to help you start modding Baldur's Gate 3 and the heavily recommended mods to remove the "wokeness" if you desire an immersive experience.

Spotlight to mod the gay away: Baldur's Gate 3​

RPGHQ modders has done mods on a whole range of video games such as Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and Helldivers 2. However, there is no other video game that these modders are so autistically invested into fully removing the so-called "woke" elements than the Dungeons and Dragons: Forgotten Realms, 5th Edition video game and 2023 Game of the Year: Baldur's Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, based in Ghent, Belgium.

There is an average of 2 mods per game in MODHQ. The amount of mods for Baldur's Gate 3 in MODHQ? 78 mods. And that number is growing with new mods being planned for that game, with modders so dedicated that these mods are high-quality and heavily updated (unless the owner goes inactive).

I presume people that are interested in this section to be divided among these four categories:

• Users who do not care about the "woke" crap but would appreciate a more immersive gameplay Dungeons and Dragons: Forgotten Realms experience.
• Users who bought the game and loved the gameplay and narratives but with effort attempted to mentally block all the aforementioned content from ruining their experience.
• Users who tried to enjoy the game but the flawed content made them abandon the game. They realize they played more than the 2 hour limit so they can't refund it on Steam (or it's 2 hours they can't get back in life if they pirate it) so they are stuck with this game.
• Users who want to buy the game because it looks fun but they do not buy it because of such themes that may ruin their experience and make the playthrough too awkward.

Baldur's Gate 3 has three issues indicative of the infection of modern Tumblr and Reddit culture and identity politics:

1. Companions trying to bang you when you befriend them in the first act, with the most notorious culprit being your wizard companion Gale. In addition, all companions are player-sexual, meaning that they are all attracted to the player no matter the player's gender or race. Its blame can be put upon fanfiction writer and former senior narrative designer Baudelaire Welch, who has since left the developer Larian Studios and was responsible for the games' romances that includes the bestiality sex scene with the druid companion Halsin, a man who likes to fuck people's asses while dressed like a bear. That means if you can write a fanfiction shipping yourself to a character in the game, it's a feature of the game.
2. Constant LGBT themes everywhere. At this point, the setting that this game takes place is pretty much 85% homosexual, so you wonder how the fuck a society in the Sword Coast (the region the game takes place in) can survive at all with such low replacement rates. The two most important quest-related NPCs of Act 2 are lesbian lovers. The only couples of the Ironhand gnome refugees are all gay. Most of the love letters are referring to gay couples. There are several trannies in the game, which includes the former love interest of your companion Shadowheart, of that is played by Breadtuber and tranny PhilosophyTube / Olly "Abigail" Thorn. Several kids of the game also identified as trans.
3. For a medieval Western European-inspired setting (Sword Coast), there's a lot of Chultans (Africans) and Kara-turans (Asians) in the game. In addition, Chultan dwarves and Kara-turan gnomes (not going to lie, they are the most confusing things in existence) are somehow a thing. As a result, the game can feel too "modernly cosmopolitan" analogous to the demographics of American cities with the concept of racial diversity heavily pushed upon you, rather than feeling like you're in a medieval European-inspired setting.

With the last patch having been released recently (15 April 2025) with new subclasses, you can start a new playthrough using the mod list I have below in an experience that I think is most ideal for you.

Step 1: Downloading the Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Manager (3rd-Party)​

To start modding, you'll need a mod manager to automate installation of downloaded mods into the game. The in-game mod manager does not have the plethora of mods that are provided from modding sites such as Nexus Mods and ModDB. Meanwhile, using the Vortex mod manager makes you beholden to the mercy of its developers, Nexus Mods, of which you can't control if something goes broken. The mod manager I can recommend you is Laughing Leader's Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Manager (BG3MM), which is easy to use and not that resource-consuming. In addition, many of the mods will not work on any other mod manager except this one.

The only thing I will tell you is make sure you start a playthrough in Baldur's Gate 3 before you download the BG3MM if this is your first time playing Baldur's Gate 3. The campaign dropdown was blank in the BG3MM because it could not find any campaign because I haven't installed Baldur's Gate 3 yet so I have to uninstall and re-install the mod manager after starting a playthrough in the game.

Step 2: Fixing your companions with the "Even Better Romance" mod​

In my opinion, the first priority is to fix your companions because they would be the NPCs that you'll interact with the most.

With this mod, all of your companions are now straight with the player, no longer player-sexual, and are no longer ultra-horny in the first act. That means if the player is male, you can only have romantic interactions with only female companions: Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Karlach, and Minthara. In addition, all these interactions are initiated by the player, with the exception being Lae'zel, but she was going for a one night stand due to sex being more of a commodity due to being raised in a warrior culture. That means you can delay your romances till around Act 2, though don't do it too late (like in Act 3) or else the option will disappear.

Meanwhile, all your male companions: Astarion, Gale, Wyll, and Halsin, became pretty much your best buds due to lack of sexually-charged dialogue if you're playing a male character. I thought Gale was a really cool and friendly wizard when I was playing with the mod (can't imagine without), and sure, there were two moments that I thought he was a bit too "touchy," but he retained his limits to be just friends.

"Even Better Romance" is an improved version of the older "Better Romance", which would prevent dialogue scenes from triggering and stops you from selecting specific options. "Even Better Romance" utilizes the game's new toolkit, which allowed the authors of the mod to alter the flow of dialogue depending on gender.

Planned features include racial restrictions like in the previous entries of the Baldur's Gate series (ex. the dark elf/drow priestess Viconia DeVir in Baldur's Gate 2 only dates humans, half-elves, half-orcs, and halflings while not responding to elves, gnomes, and dwarves).

To head off a detour from RPGHQ, there is a really good mod in Nexus that was definitely assist your relationship to one of your companions.

Shadowheart remains the Baldur's Gate 3 community's favorite companion to romance due to being white, female, and feminine (with a really good character arc), in contrast to the initially-arrogant frog warrior Lae'zel (also great character arc though) and the stale and cringy says-fuck-a-lot Karlach (character arc all over the place). However, there are some interactions with Shadowheart that can take your immersion out due to writers shoehorning their fanfictions in that ruin the consistency of Shadowheart's character, mainly making her being promiscuous and a degenerate when she is mentally recovering from her abusive cult background.

The "Really Shadowheart" mod makes Shadowheart monogamous if you direct her to a good path, meaning that she will disapprove if the player character cheats off of her with different characters. In addition, you have more romance interactions with Shadowheart such as more hugging animations as well as being able to sleep in the same bed together per long rest. The game finally allows the player to propose to Shadowheart in the epilogue of the game, but only if you meet certain conditions that require you to be faithful to Shadowheart.

Now to talk about the biggest elephant in the room. The Baldur's Gate 3 "No Alphabets" is a massive mod pack that removes 99% of all LGBT references (only two-three were kept) and ensures that the gender, sexuality and politics of world NPCs match the medieval status quo of pre-pozzed Forgotten Realms. Using Voice AI, the game fixes 1 major, 4 quest-related and 23+ minor NPCs, and altering appearance, voice, SFX, subtitles, and how other NPCs refer to the target NPC and his/her identity.

And here are the biggest changes:

• The major NPC of Act 2 Dame Aylin is a straight man named Ser Aylin now, making the other major NPC of Act 2, Isobel, a straight woman.
• The drag queen owner of a circus in Act 3, Lucretious, is now a straight woman.
• The victim that Astarion sexually lured to his vampire master Cazador to be sexually assaulted and imprisoned, Sebastian, is now a woman named Sebastienne.
• If you also download the Character Creator install - CCreator, it will remove pronouns and replace body type A and B with male and female in the character creator.

The only gay couples that are spared is the tiefling lesbian couple Alfira and Lakrissa because they're more of a closeted lesbian couple and the devil Raphael and his gay incubus and lover Haarlep because all devils are degenerates. However, orinEsque (who's a femoid) may turn Lakrissa into a guy in a de-girlboss mod.

Make sure your load order has NoAlphabet Aesthetics ALWAYS at the bottom of the mod list, followed by the rest of the No Alphabet mods, if you intend to download this mod. There is also a bearded Ser Aylin mod, so if you download that as well, then make it lower than Aesthetics. Load orders of the BG3MM are based on the bottom-most mod of the list, which makes the game prioritize those mods first before the mods at the top of the list. A flawed load order can make mods not work.

Spoiler: Harassment from journalists and social media

Of course, the "Ser Aylin" mod and the "No Alphabets" modpack was targeted by journalists and Reddit for being bigoted for turning a lesbian woman into a straight man and making the world of Forgotten Realms mostly straight. The creator of the "Ser Aylin" mod yedlike was banned off of Nexus Mods for being anti-diversity and anti-inclusivity. Ironically, yedlike is a brown Muslim woman.

After one year of development and anticipation, RPGHQ modders have released "Realms Restored," the successor to the "Baldur's Better Aesthetics" (BBA) mod by SniperChris on 20 April 2025, and it's massive.

The original "BBA" mod improves the aesthetics of several NPCs belonging to specific races to fit the lore of Forgotten Realms, such as dwarves no longer being beardless and githyanki no longer having facial hair. However, modders at RPGHQ have upped the ante and decided to change everything in regards to head shape, clothing, makeup, and facial shapes so that they're no longer ugly, to race-swapping NPCs from one species to another, and to ensure all humans, elves, dwarves, and halflings are white, to fit the setting that is the Sword Coast and Faerûn which is based on Western Europe as dictated by the lore of Forgotten Realms.

Say goodbye to ugly heads, beardless Dwarves and a city full of people from distant lands! Gone are the pink haired snowflakes, hairy Duergar, men in makeup and flirty ponytails. Over 1500 NPCs changed!

The mod can be divided into two core mods and an optional mod, but all should be downloaded for the best experience. A more full description per core mod can be found in the link.

Aesthetics​

This core mod changes NPC color complexions, hair styles, beards, makeup, etc. to ensure that

• there is no purposeful uglification of NPCs (no more NPCs with vitiligo)
• all races are of the lore-accurate racial color. Ex. High elves are always pale with some being a bit tan than others and all tieflings are red to human colors (833 NPCs changed)
• make sure hair colors like blonde and ginger are given to NPCs with paler skin
• gender-appropriate hairstyles and race-based hairstyles for male and female NPCs
• make sure eye colors are appropriate for each race, such as githyanki no longer having blue eyes
• all dwarf NPCs have beards
• all grey dwarves (Duerger) regardless of gender are bald
• female citizens in Baldur's Gate now wear more dresses
• Society of Brilliance is now staffed by only Underdark-only races
• And way much more that this OP itself can't cover...

Heads​

This is a core mod that replaces vanilla head models and/or textures where appropriate, removing heads that are ugly, androgynous, or originating from distant lands. Although seemingly subjective, this mod significantly enhance the aesthetics and geographical lore of Faerûn and its regions and will help allow players to easier tell fantasy races apart.

Swaps​

This optional mod selectively changes Race, Sex, Body type and in some cases Maturity of NPCs. Changes include

• Turning interracial and inter-fantasy couples to mostly human (with the exception being human-elf),
• Make hirelings attractive and lore-accurate (paladin being a strong human instead of a half-orc),
• Swapping NPCs based on their voice/dialogue/role, turn mute female NPCs that are in the Flaming Fist to male (voiced NPCs will be dealt with in a separate De-girlboss mod)
• Include more instances of male strong body types.
• According to Forgotten Realms lore, the majority of the residents living in Baldur's Gate are humans. This mod aims to fix that by replacing halfling and gnome NPCs in leading roles to humans.
• More than 400 NPCs were affected by Swaps!

If you want to rid your playthrough of all black people of the Sword Coast, you can use the Wylls of Toril 2.0 mod and pick different races for your black companion Wyll to your liking, from Kara-tur (Asian) to Neverwinter (European) to Calimshan (Iberia-Arab). The mod got banned, and after a period of time, the Nexus admins with their wisdom banned the author but unbanned the mod.

I didn't download the mod for my first playthrough since I decided that Wyll be one of the region's exotic folks. It's also better to keep vanilla Wyll because it's funny how Wyll's Duke Ravengard is an awful parent and stereotypically abandons his son.

All the clothing in the game has are hypersexualized and promiscuous to the point they all look ugly. Dresses now cover up women's legs and cleavage while noble outfits no longer have pants that highlights where the private parts are. Astarion and Gale's default clothes now use normal leather pants.

Future content include dignifying the Emperor, the Umberlee (Bitch Queen) priestesses, and Orin.

Future plans​

• RPGHQ modders are already planning to transform most, if not all, of any girl-boss NPCs in the game into a male unless there's a lore reason to keep the NPC a female. This is probably the last thing of the list to turn Baldur's Gate 3 from a Medium-tier game to a None-tier modded game in accordance to the KF Guide to Woke Games.

I think the major thing is that BG3 is a good game that has little tidbits of wokery. Personally I think wokery isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be most of the time, niggas are just embarrassed to enjoy a game that Man On Youtube says is gay.
