Wondering if I asked this before but fuck it, my 'tism demands I ask you guys which color you'd prefer for the 7th chaos emerald: Cyan or Pink?

My heart says pink as an extreme classic Sonic purist and I feel it'd work better both then and now with Amy getting an emerald geared to her color.
Replacing the pink emerald color makes sense because having 3 colors in the red-ish category would be too overwhelming for the eyes when you combine them together (i.e. they would blend in instead of being distinctly unique).

So basically what we have now is the following:
  • Two emeralds in the red-ish category (Purple and literal red)
  • Two emeralds in the green-ish (yellow and literal green)
  • Two emeralds in the blue-ish category (light blue and dark blue)
  • One neutral emerald (white/gray)
Or to put it in another way, with the exception of Orange, all the chaos emeralds are the colors of the rainbow (indigo, from what I've seen online, is sometimes displayed as dark blue for whatever reason, so the purple one would be the true "violet"), which pink is not a part of.

I highly recommend the total conversion for the steam release of SADX that turns it back into the Dreamcast version in terms of visuals and controls.

I never really understood the appeal of Sonic Adventure until playing this version. Seeing the art style, presentation, and gameplay unfucked has turned my opinion of the game very positive. I even really liked the Big the Cat segments, platforming in order to explore for better fishing spots is actually a very creative take on the fishing genre id love to see a standalone elaboration of.

Running out of characters to use, it seems.

I thought Sega said they wouldn't use him anymore. There goes that off the window.

Re: Alex Yard. While I like hearing this guy's insight regarding Sonic music, it seems like the guy has a serious elitist streak. The first time I noticed it was his "You Have Only Experienced 25% of Sonic 3."

Holy shit, this video was what redpilled me initially on this guy being a fucking tool. The absolute arrogance that if you don't score attack Sonic 3 you're a casual baby loser who didn't understand the game, not like high IQ individuals like himself. Yes, you little autist, you're so much better than everyone else because you chose to score attack a game that doesn't have a ranking system. Your parents must be so proud. The fact that he managed to stretch this out to 45+ minutes is baffling, and I can only imagine the people that agree are high off their own farts that think they need to be so much superior to others online. They have "media literacy", right?

he pivoted fully into ragebait and attacking other youtubers for attention and is still pulling DSP numbers, SAD.

What I find more interesting is that they made this and then removed it later. I figured they were planning on having an Episode 3 with Knuckles but killed it when the 2nd one didn't do that well, but it seems like they scrapped the idea before that game was even out.
According to our cousins at Retro, that's probably what happened:
Blue Spikeball said:
I wish someone at Sega would open up and reveal what they had planned, but as I understand it they're under a non-disclosure agreement not to speak about it?
I've been given permission to share what I know, from a guy who knows some guys:

Episode III didn't get much further than the idea of Knuckles being in it and brief talks about moving development from Dimps to SSA and getting Taxman involved. As far as I know, basically no serious pre-production had started on it. Anyone who thinks there's some big lost Sonic game in Episode III is probably going to be disappointed. There was really nothing much planned for it by the time Sega killed it.

As for why it was canceled, Sega seemingly didn't want to do a third episode that was another complete rework that would have to be released as a standalone product. It was already really annoying for them that Episode I and II had to be released as separate apps and couldn't be a singular one like most episodic games were. Episodic development in general ended up creating way more problems than it solved (which is why Telltale was the only dev who really stuck with the model). Episode III was seemingly canned well before Episode II was finished.

The fuck is this guy attacking J’s Reviews for? The guy is a harmless nigga autist who just spergs about the justice league for three hours. It’s like kicking over a retard’s sandcastle on the beach.

How's the PC modding scene for sonic adventure 1, 2, and Generations in terms of new levels, gameplay, not including all the bug fixes and unfucking the ports?

I've heard 4 is dogshit but i'll bite the bullet if its worth it.
I can speak for Sonic Adventure 1.

The modding scene seems fairly decent, but not super robust. There are some character mods that not only replace the characters in question, but even so as far as to attempt to retrofit them into the story with new cutscenes, such as this Rouge mod or this Cream mod. However, outside of the new cutscenes and character models, the game itself seems to be completely unchanged from the original, as you still play the orignal levels from Knuckles's and Tails's stories respectively.

However, there are a few mods I've tried that completely overhauled how the game plays. The first is this Klonoa mod which takes you through Sonic's story mode with all the abilities of Klonoa, so instead of homing attacking everything, you have to pick things up with your ring and throw them around just like in Klonoa's games.

The other is the Mario 64 mod, which as you might expect, sees you playing as Mario with all the abilities from Super Mario 64. It's quite difficult at times, since it's pretty obvious that the levels were scaled for Sonic's abilities and Mario is no-where near as agile as Sonic, but it did give me a chance to slow down and appreciate some of the finer details in the levels that otherwise would've gone unnoticed, such as some posters hanging around in the final section of Speed Highway.

As for new levels, I took a quick peek just now and found this one that appears to be a custom level based on Hill Top Zone from Sonic 2, including an entirely new boss. Haven't tested it yet, but the comments make me feel pretty optimistic. There's also this mod, which restores the first section of Windy Valley to that of a beta version. So it would appear that we're now starting to get new levels in the modding scene.

Hope that helps!

As simple as it is, it's also the coolest fucking thing I've seen today.

Like it works in some sections, but in more obvious sections (e.g. sliding down a 90 degree angle building) it doesn't.

I kind of wish the finale for Ice Cap went as far as giving Mario a snowboard or something to that effect. I know in the original game you can surf on a Koopa shell, so the animation exists for it. Instead, Mario just power slides down the mountain on his ass and it looks rather silly, especially as you go over the ramps.

Thanks, I'll look at all of them, however

You know as well as I that real men only care about shadow the hedgehog gameplay mods.

After the Tee Lopes thing I think he's just lashing out at anyone and everyone to get attention to his floundering channel. Should've stuck to doing autistic music theory.

I'm partial to the cyan emerald, but not for any particularly noble reason. I just like Sonic 1.

Once they let you access them multiple times per level, they stopped being anything close to “special” stages; an irritating detour in a game which should be about going fast.

I mean, once you get all 7 in Emerald Hill, you can go REALLY fast through the rest of the game in Sonic 2... so that's something at least?

Speaking of Sonic 4, a beta of Episode II just dropped and it contains a teaser for what Episode III would’ve been:
According to these posts from inbReddit and Xitter there was unused concept art that was hidden in Episode II’s game files featuring what’s presumed to be Angel Island and an updated look of freaking Mecha Sonic of all people to be implied to be in it.

Now this could be some fake art some guy made since people would’ve already saw this back when Episode II released or if this was found via beta build leaking so it’s up in the air for now.

AKCHUALLY that's the MK II version of Mecha Sonic. The original one was the silver/robo version from Sonic 2 genesis.

And after seeing that pic, I kinda want a "Metal vs Mecha" moment now.
