Hydrogen is like fusion power, it requires a gazillion times the input for every output. It would be cleaner to stick with coal because of how wasteful a hydrogen plant is.
100%, and the frustrating part is that the efficiency of fission (i.e. good old nuclear power) has been increasing (as has the safety protocols and understanding around it), yet Australians writ large seem really, really cynical/negative on it. I can't think of an energy source that has a worse PR attached unfairly to it - the country seems to either want to bet long on solar, wind and hydrogen OR people on the other side of the spectrum, just want coal infinitely.
What I'm saying is, free my nigga (pressurised water reactors)
