lol did that little send-off for Wesley happen after Roddenberry's death?
Wesley goes with the Traveler in the 7th and final season of TNG, the episode came out nearly 3 years (1994) after Gene's death (1991). But he was essentially written out of the show (save for some cameo episodes) in 1990, when Roddenberry was still around.

ol did that little send-off for Wesley happen after Roddenberry's death? Because if it did, that's fucking funny. Sending Gene's perfect widdle angel off to spend his life with a creepy pedophile after Gene wasn't around to "protect" the little shit anymore is just such a perfect "fuck you" from the cast & crew to Wil Wheaton.

I don't think this is really the case. The Traveler was introduced right in the first season, with the intent that Wes would go off with him someday, with the official explanation being that Wesley was the next step in human evolution (barf). Even if the Traveler did look at him like he was an especially tender pork loin he couldn't wait to nosh on.

No, the real "fuck you, Gene" moment was probably when Mr. Perfect Acting Ensign helped get one of his fellow academy students killed then tried to cover it up, going so far as blowing off Picard before finally cracking under the strain and admitting guilt. Then he was ostracized by his class and forced to repeat a year. Sterling record, Cadet Crusher.

Oh, this one is going to be good.

The fact that the new original IPs are flopping to the recognizable media aren’t because people are sheep that go to what they recognize, but because those original movies suck. They aren’t even fun enough to go kill time and still drip with the insincere writing and acting and editing that plague every other fucking movie.

No seriously every clip was either non-charismatic black leads or cynical sudden death scenes for comedy or shitty modern “satire” by TDS retards or swearing that’s shoved into every situation by the script. I understand they’re movie guys, but I cannot understand how you can watch any of these and not despair over movies as a medium. It’s the same issue as with written media: the people making them are either dinosaurs who long lost the spark that made them great, or newbies who lack any experience with people or events outside social media.

It's a cost issue more than anything. A $15 matinee for a movie I never heard of is a lot of time and money sunk into something I may or may not enjoy. Recommendations can help, but word of mouth needs to reach critical mass for it to work. Streaming and piracy is simply superior for indie projects.

If cinema is shit, and no-one is willing to pay $20 to see some shit French film, I have no problem with cinemas going bankrupt. RLM seem to want to suck failed directors cock. Well good luck to you. no-one else wants to.
I kind of got the impression that they are lamenting the death of the movie theater culture and how studios and audience participate in it. I get it, a lot of people a few years ago were complaining about the need for original movies yet historically original movie concepts fail; the accountability falls on us as well. We vote with our wallets and the wallets wants Zoomer energy with millennial nostalgia while the majority just want to wait until it is on streaming.

Here's why movies are failing.

The ticket prices are expensive, even for a matinee

The other patrons are loud, obnoxious, and sometimes dangerous

Even the "good" movies that are coming out aren't that great.

Why wouldn't I want to save time and money by either watching at home or not watching at all? It's really not that complicated. There's no mystery here to unravel.

Mickey 17 is a perfect example. It sounds like an interesting premise, and them relies on a villain who is a cardboard cutout of Trump. This immediately rules out half the audience. Is it no wonder it fails. No wonder no-one is interested in watching a film in the cinema.

The horse whip and buggy industry lamented the loss of the horse and buggy culture too.

Their brief discussion of "what was the first meme movie" missed the right answer, probably because it was a totally forgettable piece of shit.
