Let them try. Let them get the same treatment as Roblox got when they tried that, with the news and the dark secrets of the company getting signalboosted to the masses. Imagine the bad publicity Discord would get if they sued someone for building a system to keep predators out of kids' communities.
I mean, they should considering that most of them these days are millenials and know fucking well how awful the internet is, but this shit is wildly illegal on Discord's part. Specifically, they are absolutely not doing their due diligence to protect users under 18 from being exposed to sexual content, legally speaking. Considering that the bar for that is literally "make a user pinky swear that they're 18 before showing them hardcore porn" and "ban people who admit to being under 18 in places with porn" these days AKA some of the simplest shit you can do, it says a lot that they won't even make the legally-required token effort.
It would make a hell of a lot more sense if that was the reason it was banned, except that isn't the reason they listed on that ban.
Pedophiles are running the show, and pedophiles are bringing in the money. When nothing else makes sense, follow the money.
Publicity isn't everything. People will still use Discord even if the CEO comes out and admits that he created it to facilitate the exploitation of children.
They can make up whatever reason they want. It's less justifiable to issue legal threats over "protected characteristics" for an off-site platform, so I'll imagine they'll use invasion of privacy as the casus belli to take down the pedophile database.

Your theory has already been confirmed time and time again. Look at someone like kanye. Dude is a known porn addict, and has so much fuck you money that he can say things like "i sucked my cousins cock up until I was 14" and not really face too much hardship financially. Many people have come forward dropping hints that kanyes been into boys for some time now.
Stuff that doesn't make money (open source, tabletop rpgs, other nerd hobbies) are being ruined by exactly the same people. You can, to Discord's credit, simplify it a bit to saying that it's less Discord itself are paedos as their audience is full of them

The thing that really boggles the mind is that someone, probably several people who were banned by that bot, felt entitled enough to have access to children that they brought it up to the Discord management by complaining about it.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some employee overlap between the two. I definitely think the pedos have friends in high places - both in Discord and Roblox.
