For real. We have 16 hour ER waits, people being shoved onto stretchers in hospital hallways, and primary care medicine is in shambles... but sure lets spend 500M so that 20K Pajeeta Nightingales (lmfao) can get hired in 6 months instead of 12! Canada's healthcare system has been circling the drain for 20 years or more. Covid just sort of overwhelmed an already dying machine. Specialists? Even before 'rona, it was a 9 to 18 month wait to get into see anyone. Not just hospitals either, but it's a challenge to get even a family doctor in some provinces. I've been waiting to be assigned a new family doctor since the PS3 and Wii were the new hotness.

I haven't drank their coffee or hot drinks since the RBI buyout. Had a breakfast sandwich from there a couple months back that I'm pretty sure gave me food poisoning. Every Tim Hortons in my area are run by jeets anyway so that might have had more to do with the food poisoning.

That's only about $1,375. If you're going to sell out your country at least hold out for $20,000, if not enough to take a year off work and learn a new trade in a different country

Racism is one of many tools used by all governments to divide and conquer a population.
The canadian politicians saw that canada was suffering from a labour shortage. Rather than fixing the problems that were causing canadians to not want to work ( poor working conditions, drug problems in the population, inadequate support from the government given the steep taxes we pay ) They decided to open the flood gates to india in order to ship in cheap labour. Companies lobbying the government for this "solution" also share the blame.

So we have a case where the canadian government is fucking up on multiple levels and is steeped in controversy and corruption. But at every turn, they praise the pajeets they shipped in for doing such a "good job" in order to cover their own asses, and deflect attention away from their fuck ups. This causes canadians to focus their attention towards the mass of immigrants coming in, undercutting them at every opportunity to take their jobs. But they aren't the ones that should be blamed. They are simply scapegoats used by the government to secure its power. The government essentially lied to them to create an underclass that would do all the shit jobs canadians didn't want to do.

This thread is stupid, because it's a bunch of people unproductively seething rather than trying to use their autistic powers to solve their problems. I also suspect that there are alot of americans here, larping as canadians, trying to convince people that canada's situation is worse than it actually is. Because that's what americans do when they don't have control. They blame canada for the fentanyl crisis, for their gun problems, and for their fucked climate policy.

Most canadians see it for what it is, and are not swayed by the constant propaganda coming from our neighbours down south, that have a vested interest in our vast resources. Instead they go outside, and see people are more or less normal, despite the insanity being displayed in the news. We are in the middle of a GLOBAL recession. It is bad for everyone. This is why I am ambivalent to what label the ruling party is. The most important issue for me is anti-war. I do not need more tax dollars going towards ukraine, or israel, or any other fucked up scheme the united states is dragging canada into, like they did with the war in iraq. Those wars are the reason why social programs in canada are being cut. Canada has sent 12.4 BILLION (American dollars) to aid ukraine in their suicide mission.

We had no labour shortage, or we did, but not in the area people assume.

We had a labour shortage in middle management and jobs which require some level of competency. Why did we have this? Because for a decade and a half, entry level jobs didn't really exist, people have not been trained, and like- 1/10 people graduating have been getting a job in their field post great recession.

There's a shortage in mid level jobs and career jobs because practically noone has been trained from the ground up since that time.

So what's the fake news? We decided to import 8 million Indians to take these mid level jobs millineals lost our on (fucking over the zoomers now as well, because god forbid we actually train our own people or hire them out of university)

And also now the Indians are taking over all the McJobs, aka McDonald's, subway, Timmies, the LCBO, Walmart, etc.

That is because Boomers (and what remains of the Silent Generation) were conditioned to believe what they read in the newspapers and watch on television because that particular medium came to prominence in their childhoods. It never occurs to them that the man or woman on CBC would ever lie or withhold information from them. Something that should be addressed is the generational divide this election because much of Poilievre's support comes younger demographics, especially young men. Meanwhile, the Liberal base skews older and more female as they go for candidates that appeal to their base emotions. What I find funny is that they disdain Poilievre for "being mean" yet swoon over Carney, who runs away and hides whenever the heat becomes too much. Wouldn't you want a leader who will stand his ground, even if he can be abrasive and sarcastic? Odds are high that Carney would fold like a cheap tent in negotiations because even he knows that what economic leverage on the Americans is extremely weak at best. It would take years to pivot to a declining EU and Pacific Rim for trade as well as build infrastructure, which he will not do because he will not remove the bureaucratic barriers to construction.

In short, Canadian culture disdains critical thought and individuality. It is your fault for noticing the cracks in the system and not the people in charge of it.
