Rating: Mild.
You can customize your character to wear a tie in the style of the eyesore omnipride flag and there is no gender option at all, you can select two version of each top with vaguely different torso structure in addition to choosing either a feminine or masculine voice. You can choose whatever assortment of body type, facial hair, and voice you want, but it all fits into the generally comedic tone of the game.
The dev team mostly has pronouns listed in their discord bios, they have a bluesky, and they made some jokes about heckin' capitalism in one of their latest videos about price changes. Their team in general has a reddit aura about them. They have not, however, overtly engaged in political or even culture war discourse thus far and the game itself is consistent about being a survival craft with a half life flavor. Most of the in-game humor feels inspired by Office Space.

Overall, fun game and highly recommended if you like the genre.

I did the quest. It seems to be unchanged. I met the brotha in Anvil that got tricked by some Nord gash, I met the Nord "Home-wrecker" at the bar, she invited me back to her cabin, and I slaughtered her and her gypsy friends right before the undercover brotha (and sista) came bursting in. When it comes to RPG's I don't mind it THAT much. I mind the philosophy behind it in today's world, but in principle it's not a stretch to imagine a fantasy world where there is maybe more than male and female. I believe Ultima 2 or 3 had 'other' as a gender option back in the 80s for this reason.

Personally, its not the type 1 or 2 that gets me. Its the "Its not that important, but you're a massive bigot if you make mods changing it, so we'll delete those mods". It really is. I don't give a damn about text on a screen, but the blanket gaslighting, hypocrisy, and deleting of mods based on ideology is SO annoying and should have more criticism by normies.

The Pre-Sequel was much worse imo, which was especially annoying because it had the best gameplay in the series because of all the zero-G mechanics, which Borderlands 3 discarded in favour of adding the ability to climb ledges (so innovative!).

But yeah, the woke stuff: the second major NPC you meet in the game is a lesbian and isn't shy about making you aware of it, in fact I think several of the female characters in that game turn out to be gay. There's also an extremely cringe scene where the dudebro Torque guy who speaks in all caps gives a speech acknowledging that his constant shouting is a coping mechanism for his insecurity rooted in toxic masculinity.

I don't really remember the woke stuff from Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Not saying it's not in there, but at that point I'd learned to turn off the dialogue and listen to podcasts while I played these games. Gameplay-wise I'd say it's probably the best Borderlands game, aside from the fact you still can't display multiple mission objectives on the map at once. If they don't fix that in Borderlands 4 I will consider it wilful malice on Randy's part.

It's thoroughly, intellectually dishonest. "Body Type" in lieu of gender/sex would seem like a fair compromise if we hadn't already seen what cutting their community a little slack does. The people that are saying "It's not important, snowflake" absolutely think it's important, they just want to calm you down while things are slightly slanted in their favor.

"Body Type" by itself is not the issue; the issue is the gaslighting in the interest of keeping that as an industry norm.

I just want to say that I am a culture war faggot. I long for the days when video games weren't used as a vehicle for preaching personal politics, and instead any "political" video game content only got as esoteric and abstract as Metal Gear Solid, what with the "La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo" African gorillas and vague threats of nuclear proliferation. Instead, we have to worry about androgynous assholes this side of the world ocean, making sure we remember they exist every 2 minutes of playtime and trying to scrub any fun out of our childhoods.

I think some of these are available in archive.org but that's impossible to search for, and we all know archive.org is missing a lot of things, either blocked by robots.txt, bad scripts, or tranny jannies.
